Toasted Pasta

Postby Zosherooney » March 29th, 2017, 6:26 pm

Tonights supper is eggplant shoes. I plan to serve them with toasted pasta for a change. Have any of you toasted pasta then boiled it? Apparently it gives a much better flavour (for the pasta). I will do mine on the hob as opposed to in the oven. Planning Orzo as pasta.

Will report back later. :chef: :chef: :chops:

No, I haven't toasted pasta. Is it really worth it? Do you have to brown it?

The only pasta I have ever toasted is giant couscous, it wasn't a great success, though I have had it ready cooked like that and it has been nice

I've had baked lasagne crisps at Slimming World! Not something I'd care to repeat!

I had no idea that toasted pasta existed. How interesting.

The idea is you brown it, dry, in a pan (or oven, not enough reason to turn it on for in my opinion). Then when toasted, you add the liquid and cook till it suits your palate.

I think stuffed aubergine wedges just shaped like a shoe. Greek maybe.

Papoutskia (sp?) means slippers and they are individual moussakas in halved auberine shells. Or they are when I make them!
