I have four peaches

Out of the main bustle of the Coffee shop this is where people gather to share recipes and tips/tricks.

I have four peaches

Postby TeresaFoodie » October 2nd, 2017, 8:10 pm

They are very ripe and destined for the bin tomorrow if I don't think of a way of using/preserving them. I have sugar. Sorbet?

Any ideas?

Just eat them? If you cut them up and put them in a bowl you should find you can manage them for dessert and snacks by the end of the day.

Do you have any yoghurt? If so blitz/smash with the yoghurt and freeze in small portions - lovely alternative to ice cream. I did this with a mango that needed used up and froze in small plastic glasses. It was really tasty :)

If they're fully ripe I would eat them all straight away - they wouldn't last more than a couple of minutes   . I've been disappointed with the ones I've bought this year, been more like eating an apple than a soft, juicy peach :x

Cheers

I would have mixed them with yogurt too but thought maybe you didn't have any.

I love good ripe peaches just as they are.
But a tarte tatin style dish is very good. https://www.kaveyeats.com/2013/08/upsid ... tatin.html

Eat two and roast two for the next day . Booze is always good , especially amaretto or a sweet white wine.

I whizzed them up with four little yoghurts and they are in the freezer. The yoghurts were rhubarb, black current and gooseberry. Should be interesting. I will devour later and report back.

By the way, I would normally manage four peaches back to back in one sitting but they have to be in the middle of ripeness, as in not too hard and not wrinkly soft. These were wrinkly soft bordering on destined for the bin.

Wrinkley peaches should be easy to skin. I had them as a 13yr old sliced in a plastic cup slathered with Cypriot brandy.... I did not complain..... I slept very well that night.
