Is there another dish very similar but without the eggs ? I found something in my freezer and recall that it was made from red/yellow peppers, onions, (garlic ?) tinned tomato and/or tomato puree ... I am sure I got the recipe from someone on here (Moira ?) I am currently using a Hairy Biker recipe, but stopping short of adding the eggs, feta cheese and lebheh.

Omit the eggs if you do not want them, I never use feta or lebneh. A little chili or oregano helps. I look upon it as one of those ME "what have I got in the garden " dishes
I freeze the veg stew base for shakshuka or piperade, adding the eggs when reheating
Is that what you were planning to do originally?
I think the eggs are the defining ingredient, der Hartounian gives Maghrebi recipes for various different veg mixes to which the eggs can be added, often without either tomatoes or peppers - spiced cauli for example

It does not usually contain courgettes or aubergines. I am told that the Israelis eat it for breakfast, presumably that is the influence of their North African migrants
I first had shakshuka for brunch, cooked by Beduin in Sinai, I think Israel is surrounded by the stuff, probably a Palestinian version too! Certainly Egyptian versions but the really like eggs, and cook them well
If you want to use your veg mix as a breakfast dish, try adding some fried potatoes left over from yesterday . Not the same as the eggs, but tastes pretty good!

Just to clarify - I found a portion of what I remembered was a very nice pepper type dish in the freezer .. shakshuka or piperade ??? I recall that when I made it, I really enjoyed it so had this portion as a side dish. I am now trying to recreate whatever it was. I searched and found a HB recipe using sweet peppers, onions, tinned and puree tomatoes - I have made it, and will use it as a veg side, or on toast (with cheese ?), but it just isn't as nice as whatever it was I made in the first place. So, my query is not what I would use it with, but where I may have got the original recipe from - I can only have been inspired on here … sorry if I have confused everyone.

I knew I'd posted on previous threads so I just searched my own posts for Haroutunian, as I was sure I'd have quoted him! Shakshuka isn't a good search term as there are so many spellings and misspellings
