Bargains today..

I got some organic British Rump steak (0.248 kg) and some Chanterelle mushrooms £1.36 down from £2.00 for 100g …… suggestions please ? Mushroom and onion sauce with fried steak or something else ?

Stroganoff?

But to be honest I’d love a panfried steak, med rare with mushrooms and potatoes of some sort ... chips :hungry:

That's my preference too … besides, I don't have the cream for stroganoff :tu:

I would cook the mushrooms and finish them off with a little brandy, some fond de veau and a bit of red wine - then pour it over something else - maybe last night's veal kidney !! Mr R can eat the steak.

I think I'd go for the stroganoff for preference if there's a reasonably local source of cream. Haven't had a classic strog for yonks. :chops:

fry the mushrooms in a little butter with a couple of grinds of black pepper, pile on a slice of good, buttered toast. give the steak to the cat. (or the next foster dog).

I went with the first suggestion … steak, mushrooms (fried with a little butter) and fried potatoes ... :chops: :hungry:
