I've not heard if it either but had a trawl round, they think it was introduced to eastern Europe via Italy and also say, as in your clip, it has similarities to Biscotti. I am not fond of egg white based biscuits, including Biscotti. Mandelbrot doesn't contain eggs so will be different in that respect. Do let us know if you try it!

I was thinking of Madlebrot set patterns, the ones that look organic,but are governed by a set of mathematical equations, derived by Madlebrot, OH was at school with his nephew, also very mathematical

Mandelbrot is simply German for almond bread

thank goodness for that - it was my first thought, too. we had a really lovely program about thirty years ago that produced mandelbrot fractal patterns. i would sit and watch them for ages. i was almost annoyed when we got a faster computer as it ran the program far too quick to appreciate the pattern cycling.

it was only after clicking on the link that i did the translation.
