Date pickle

There's a lovely recipe using dates, that I encountered a couple of years ago on the BBC Food Programme. At this time of year there might be some in the house leftover...

It can be found by googling 'food programme date pickle' . It was broadcast in an episode called 'get ahead treats for Christmas' in November 2014. The recipe is courtesy of Sally Butcher.

Basically it's dates, tamarind, lemon juice and spices mixed together. It keeps for ages in the fridge (I've still got some from 2015 but have just made a new batch) and goes well with all sorts of things. :tu:

Looks very good BM - this year I included tamarind in my annual cobbled together batch of 'Harvest Chutney' which varies from year to year, according to what gluts I have in the garden and what's going cheap at the farm shop and roadside stalls etc. The tamarind was a definite improvement and appreciative comments have been received :D

There are several treasures on that link http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04pr6x4

I shall definitely make a note - thanks for pointing us to it :D
