My blue tits never did that.

How lovely. We have them in the garden, they along with sparrows were getting into the greenhouse we have put net over the open Windows now to stop them as they couldn't get out and were flying into the glass. They still perch on the ledges and they let me touch them through the net, they are so tame.

There is a country park and lake in Northumberland where most of the small birds will feed from the ice was thick enough your hand. The children loved going there, especially in the winter when you could also skate on the lake when the ice was thick enough. ... ntry-park/

I think the well kept garden just sets this off. What a lovely reward for all the hard work.

Very lovely! I have forwarded it to my friend who spends a lot of time in her garden studying wildlife and will appreciate that. And on the back of this thread I have subscribed to Woodland Trust and RSPB newsletters. Been meaning to do that for a while.

The bluetits in our local park will eat out of your hand - I went in to feed the squirrels and was amazed when a bluetit landed on my hand!
