Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

Good morning all :D
Overcast here too.
OH has to take his bike into the city as it needs new bearings ... he may come back on the bus or I may pick him up in the car. That's the extent of my planning for today ... other than making a Lancashire Hotpot for supper. The rest of the time is mine to do as I wish with ;)
Have a good day folks :D

Good morning, all.
Windy, and just getting light. I can't hear the predicted rain yet.
Off to the farm in a bit so had better get a move on.
Have a cosy day, everyone.

good morning, all.
sunny and breezy.
i got picked up half an hour early from the farm yesterday as we intended to go up to delabole on a slate mission. the conversation on the journey up the farm track changed our intention - so we went and continued the conversation over a couple of cups of coffee at the blue bar. delabole will be left for another time.
if i can drag myself away from looking for the alternative on the interweb i may do some of the dreaded hswk - which is becoming a necessity.
have a grand day, everyone.

Good morning all :D

A wet and windy dawn has given way to bright and very breezy ... however our plans have had to change because the gallery doesn't open until the afternoon and that's when I've got my appointments ... we'll catch the 11 o'clock bus instead of the 10 o'clock and pop to The Lamb Inn for an early lunch then I'll get my specs and have my hair cut OH goes to the bicycle shop ... we'll go to the exhibition one afternoon next week ......

That means I have an hour to spare drinking coffee and noodling on here with you lot ;)

Have a good day folks :D

Good evening
Awoke to a wet and windy start, but by 10 when we met for our walk we had brilliant sunshine with occasional cold winds, and that went on all day. We walked from Tate Britain along the Thames path to Tower Hill , really nice

Must have been very windy in the night though, I'd left a fairly substantial cover on the outside table, held on with four good clips, and the whole lot had blown off. Got them all

Hope you all had a good day

That's such a lovely walk, especially this time of year ... kicking the fallen leaves. Nearly as good as walking along the Left Bank ... we visited Paris in November when we first met :D

overcast. was brighter earlier but no rain at the moment - it isn't predicted to arrive until later this evening.
nothing planned for today, for me. my partner is going off to do some more hedge building, which translates to appetite building.

Good morning g
Though I posted but t'internet ate my homework
Was sunny but cold here, now clouding
No plans except a certain amount of scurrying round to collect parcels, prescriptions etc. and to make chilli
Was thinking of going down to Rotherhithe to visit the Scandinavian Christmas market, but part of the point was also to go the Range, and not going near there on Black Friday

bright/sunny but i think we're in for a mixed day. i think we may have had a bit of hail late yesterday evening.
off to choose some paintings (maybe) again, from the works of a friend, who died earlier in the year, in a short while - after a coffee.

Good afternoon
Went for a nice brisk walk, chilly but sunny here
had a quick trot round the park, went into the smart Winter Market, didn't buy anything, but the nice lady who sells lovely lampshades tells me that TJ at the electrical shop will rewire my vintage lamp bases for me :)
Then went to the Farmer's market and to the open studio day
Really fancied a ceramic dish ornament in wheel thrown porcelain by Jo Davies, but have nowhere to put it and not cheap. Same goes for a glorious landscape....
Clouding intermittently but still cold and clear generally

wet, overcast and chilly.
coffee on its way and then the f1 calls. at least we can see the sunshine in abu dabi - and light the stove.
i have gleaned a few pots, another couple of paintings, some handmade paper and a stack of books - including a couple of elizabeth david's, an old cookbook that i can't remember the title of at the moment and a stack of art books on anatomy, perspective etc.
i will peruse them after the f1.

Good afternoon
Went on a history walk of the cemetery, Vice and Virtue, notable people from suffragettes and salvationists to the most prolific executioner England ever had, taking in a surprising number of Met police heroes killed on duty along the way

Was a lovely sunny if cold day, perfect light for reading inscriptions on stones

The rain is supposed to hit us overnight

Think I'll do the ironing and listen to Neil McGregor on the Gods, at least ironing keeps the hands warm

Chilly, I think, and a dirty orangy-yellow sunrise. I am glad it's not raining again. I did not enjoy my walk mile to the station yesterday with a big bag of stuff to post for ebay.

How were the Scythians, Sue?! I've heard it's very good. I had an offer from our picture researcher (she had job-related free entry) to go with her, but I'd have had to get up at half six for her intended start... (she had pre-public entry. Damn it I should have gone.)

good morning, all.
bright but heavy looking clouds looming - and chilly.
coffee is a self service affair today as himself has had to go into truro, early, but having just been reminded of the day, i've treated myself to a couple of biscuits. how's that for a feeble justification!
a trip down to marazion (for those who didn't know it translates from the cornish as 'market jew' - but that may be a further corruption) for one of the organic gardening groups' monthly meeting which is a talk on gardening for wildlife.
the sun keeps trying to poke through.

Bright and sunny here but decidedly nippy. Fortunately the boiler is still working, despite leaking the other evening. The engineer is coming tomorrow. Today OH is brushing up his CV etc ........ there's a job that looks interesting ........
I shall pop to the farm shop and buy bread and cheese

Good morning
Sunny here
The Scythians were great though I'm not sure why all the pictures to show detail or reconstructions were printed the size of postcards or A4 at most, not just a problem for my eyes but it meant that people were queuing up to get a good look which seemed unnecessary.
I could have read most of the labels (hurrah!) but it would have involved hogging the display case for a long time. I had downloaded the pdf of the labels and info and read it on my Kindle as I went round. A couple of people asked me about it when they spotted it, interestingly both older than me.

Went shopping after and got a new down jacket (my parka had expired) and a knitted hat in Uniqlo so will wear them later

So tired though having spent the night being disturbed by the fridge and moving beds

Suffolk, hope the Artist's CV catches the job

Have a good day

Good afternoon everyone (again)
Could have sworn I posted earlier
No rain here, just very chilly
Been to the Postal Museum, including the Mail Rail ride. Visit of two halves, the train bit is excellent, the main exhibition is so focused on being child friendly it seems they forgot the adults. In particular no large print guide, which is absolutely bog standard these days and a disgraceful omission in a museum only two years old
I feel an email coming on..
Had a nice walk back to Islington Green, calling in at a few shops

chilly but bright with a bit of breeze. the beeb has given us a yellow warning of ice - well, the whole of cornwall - there is a huge difference in weather probability between bodmin moor and the far west of the county. i'll be surprised if we get ice.
nothing on the cards at the moment but coffee is being drunk so a plan may evolve with the stimulation (even though it's decaf).

Nothing on the cards here either Scully other than warming up some homemade tomato soup for lunch. OH will bring two of the farm shop's home made ready meals for supper as the boiler man said the new part will take about 3 hours to fit this afternoon
I will shut myself in here with the knitting ... at this rate OH's new jumper will be finished in time for Christmas :xtree:

Lots of snow here in a North Yorkshire, I was planning on driving over tonight but OH phoned me at lunchtime saying if I was going to come to set off now.

The drive was OK, even over the Pennines, but it’s really coming down now, big dry flakes that are sticking.

good morning, all.
sunny but chilly.
pinch and a punch, etc. and no returns.
i will be off to use some sticky stuff remover, soon, on a wash basin that was given some weird sort of skirt, maybe they were offended by the nude pedestal 'leg'.
coffelepathy is being engaged.
the remains of half a massive savoy cabbage, steamed last night, is waiting in the pan with the remains of the mashed potato for bubble and squeak tonight. it can't really be called leftovers if you've cooked extra for the purpose, can it?
the cabbage was as big as a football and cost 50p from the farm gate.
the coffelepathy isn't working yet.

good morning, all.
overcast, a bit damp and chilly but not as chilly as it has been lately.
a scalpel and the sticky stuff remover worked its magic. i now have to find something to remove the same sort of thing from upvc window frames it is proving resistant to the sticky stuff remover.
some housework is needed. i suppose i may have to do it soon. i'll try to ignore it a bit longer though.
nothing planned otherwise.

Glad you got the sticky stuff off Scully ... Depending on how much sticky stuff there is on the UPVC frames, DS swears by peanut butter to remove sticky residue from auctioneers' labels on porcelain .... put a liberal amount on a soft cloth and keep rubbing.
I will not do housework today ... I will knit :D

good morning, all.
overcast and a bit dull at the moment. the odd shower is predicted.
we are off to the beach for a walk, a coffee and maybe a touch of lunch at the beach in a little while as it's low tide at around eleven and my partners birthday.
he has gone back to sleep so this may be delayed - the going - all the rest are unchanged - especially the tide and day.
i will try the peanut butter although it may not be the right cure. the 'sticky' is the old, dried, yellow residue of masking tape/duct tape that is no longer sticky but welds itself to the surface it has been applied to. i would have been inclined to try to scrape it off but that'll damage the frame.
have a good day, everyone.

Good morning
Had a good walk yesterday and looked at the remakers, which turned out to be rather less than I hoped, just a small pop up shop, none of the crafters there, and the shop keeper was determined not to reveal her sources. Some really nice upholstered pieces, but not what I was looking for.

good morning, all.
overcast but supposed to brightening a bit later.
don't you wish you were young enough not to have to care about - or subsequently feel - the quantity of food you eat in a day. yesterday was one of those. big lunch, cake and mince pie at a meeting i went to in the afternoon then, although i didn't really need food, a bigger dinner than i should have dished up for myself. i think i shall have to take myself in hand!
I'm on cat feeding duty today and parcel waiting. i'm a little peeved as there was no notice about the parcel other than a text a couple of hours ago - they didn't even tell me where the cat food was kept. i despair of the young, sometimes.
have a grand day, everyone.

they have done in the past - or have asked the next door neighbour. i don't know why they didn't with this one - unless they think it would be bigger than we could store or carry down the steps. it's the lack of warning that's irritating.
as for the cat, well, kitten, i think it's more to do with company than actual feeding - he has dry food but they're giving him wet pouches, too. our first cat had wet food - a good attractor of flies in the summer if it isn't all eaten in one go - our present cats get dried (or wet on special occasions and to tempt appetite when ill) in gravity feeders - we could go away for over a week without the need for someone to go and feed and water.
i have found a couple of balls with bells in for the kitten - that'll teach them!

I may have to amend that as the kitten has settled on my lap for a quick nap - and I haven't finished my coffee.
I'm being bought a present from a chilli farm for my effort. I think some swapped hours should be added on, too.
Oops, got distracted.
Have a good day, everyday.

A drizzly start to this morning. And the trains are all delayed and thus so am I. Finishing at lunch time (well a bit before hence my anxiety about being late. My company sticks to specific working hours rigidly) to travel to Karlsruhe. Torrential rain tomorrow there then snow!

Good morning, all.
the wind has dropped to a breeze and has swung round to the north west. The sun is elbowing its way between the clouds.
A bit of hswk, that couldn't be done over the last two days, is on the cards for today. Not a prospect I'm looking forward to but the bullet must be bitten. I'll have to reward myself when it's done.
Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning
Drizzly here too
I have spent a ridiculous amount of the last couple of days tidying up the little craters in a bit of wall, putting up two new picture hooks, and restringing a huge and heavy lithograph that dropped off the wall, smashing a wall socket on the way. It fell off not because of weight but because there was such a thick bundle of cord it wriggled out of the hook.

Trouble is it has been face to the wall so nobody kicked the glass, and only when I went to clean the glass and rehang it did I notice that the print has slipped out of the mount so it will have to go back to the framer (I'm not opening a frame of this size and quality myself)

Have a good day everone

Good morning, all.
Sunny with a few clouds and a bit breezy from the north west.
We went to the cinema to see the 'live' performance of 'young Marx', yesterday evening. It's on at the bridge theatre - for those in or near 'the smoke'; for those who aren't there's, hopefully, an 'encore' showing sometime soon. It was very good, very well written, very funny, very well acted - just very everything, really, I would highly recommend going to see it.
More hswk today, here, while my partner continues with the hedge building, there. He'll pick up some veg from the farm gate on his way home.
Have a cosy Friday, everyone.
