Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

good morning, all.
overcast - the forecast (at the moment) says it's going to be like that all day.
i'm off to the south in an hour and a half - i must remember to take bags to bring home produce.
hamlet, at the minack, started off a little ... well, hammy. i was set for a rather poor rendition. it got better and as most of the actors settled into the roles the story started to flow more naturally. there were a couple of exceptions where it was a case of just saying the lines as they were written on the page rather than as in normal speech. by the time the stage was littered with bodies it was going quite well.
i must hunt down a rather lovely piece of accordion/melodeon music that was played during one of the scenes.
coffee calls.
have a good day, everyone.

Grey here too, but we are supposed to get sun later today. I finish at 4 so toying with the idea of doing something, but very tired, and I ought to tidy a bit before husband turns up late this evening. will see. It may be dictated by trains. Took a very long time to get home again tonight due to mass cancellations - again. It might make better sense to go across town to get home and do something fun en route. Not sure what constitutes fun though :o

Zumba for me soon - I have been up since about 6.30 - first to wash the cover of a dog bed (and bath towel) for my next foster dog who arrives on Tuesday (more news on that once this little white westie is in situ) then spent an hour in the front garden tidying up the fallout from all the berries and dead leaves on a large Fatsia Japonica and trimming back the excessive growth on an Akebia Quinata that has turned into a bit of a thug ... it does have lovely flowers/fruits an perfume though ;) :tu:

Meant to add that lunch will be at the Dog's Trust café and later today going to see 'The Book Club' :bounce:

off out to the local young in a bit for cake and gardening help.
i have been offered coffee.
see you later.

Good morning all :D

I think my main responsibility today will be handing mugs of tea to the Pergola Builder who is having to deal with the manufacturer's dud screws that snap when halfway into the joint, even if the hole is partially drilled out first  added to the problem screws, he likes things to be done properly, and is determined that the joints will be square otherwise he'll see the problem every time he looks at it, even if it's covered with clematis :luv:

I will also be planting up pots and pulling out weeds.

Enjoy the weekend folks :D

Done a fair bit of that myself, and generally swept and tidied
Gave up on the botany walk, I beenplant wrangling for 3 hours by then

If I'm ever tempted to get a pergola, I'll be sure to have it installed, I hope you have some beer in for later!

good morning, all.
was sunny but now turning more overcast. we are predicted some rain later.
yesterdays cake was glorious. we refused to take some home because we would have been tempted to scoff it all that evening.
the garden was cleared of the rampant (ornamental) grass etc and has been taken to a state where they can plan what they want to do with it and just do it without much 'groundwork'.
let's see how long it takes for the tools to be returned!
nothing planned for today.

Good Morning

Dull and cool here, but forecast to be hottish (23) later on.

Husband is still here, as his plane was cancelled last night, as was his replacement plane at 7. he is not happy. Wheezing away too which is partly anxiety I am sure. I have a writing group tonight but no complete story to read out. Not sure I have had one yet this year :( May just read out one of the two I am working on (or not...).

good morning, all.
our internet is down for some reason so i have tethered my phone to check on the forecast.
it's bright at the moment with the prediction of rain followed by sun. i am beginning to get the impression that there are a couple of chaps in the beeb weather office with dice.
i think a bit of hswk is needed.
so is a coffee.

Good after morning all :D

A lovely sunny day with a light breeze ... not as warm as some places, but perfect for drying washing :D

Cuppa soup (asparagus) for lunch and a slaw with brisket for supper leaves plenty of time for gardening, reading, knitting, ordering clematis for the pergola etc etc etc.

Have a lovely day folks. :D

Good morning, all.
Overcast.
I was woken at six by jackdaws recreating 'riverdance' on the roof. I will be glad when they move out.
Still no router - using the phone for Internet is annoying - and my five pound goody bag only gives me a hundred megs of data - well, less than that in reality as when it gets down to thirty megs remaining any trying to open a website (when tethered) you get redirected to the providers website to bring foreward the renewal date. I don't usually use all my data allowance and as the renewal date was this morning I didn't bother.
Off to the farm in an hour or so.
Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning
We went to Kenwood House recently and there was one of those gangs of young jackdaws raiding the tables in the tea garden, quite funny for ten minutes but annoying for the staff
I just looked it up and the correct collective noun is a clattering, which fits well with Riverdance :D
Having a bit of an argument with giffgaff about where the money from top up goes and how it is accounted for (or, very much, not accounted for)
Sunny so will get out in it before it goes

Good morning. Dull and rather windy here, but nothing to what it is up near my mothers where its 40 something.

I spent about 40 minutes putting supports in for my tomatoes, which were already falling over in the gusts, so I hopefully they will be ok. Not sure about my homemade Quadgrow...

Off to my mother's after work. Must remember to pick up tickets!

Good mornig, all.
Overcast with a bit of breeze - although nothing like upcountry, quite normal really.
My partner phoned the internet supplier, yesterday, to make sure that it wasn't them. We didn't really think it was. He said that the chap on the line asked how old the router was. When my partner answered he said there was a silence followed by the chap saying "oh 'oswald', 'oswald'!" And he could imagine him with his head in his hands. Why shouldn't a router last for seven years?
the minack's offering this week is Dr doolittle. I hope the weather behaves.
Have a good day, everyone.

Ps he's not really called oswald.

Good morning  … again, Gizzy was still sound asleep when I came downstairs but he soon came running when he heard me in the kitchen making my tea ! He had a check up yesterday and the vet is really pleased with how his coat is improving, also that I have managed to keep up with the eye and ear drops. He is still on a very restricted diet though; not even veg (that I know he will wolf down) until they get to the bottom of his skin problem. And of course he's always starving because of the steroids, but I just have to stay very strong and not give in to his constant demands for food - and his begging. I googled yesterday and found a YouTube clip of Victoria Stillwell (a dog training guru for those who have no idea ;) ) .. I don't know if Gizzy will listen and learn, although he does sit for a treat ! I have started taking him out for short walks and he is a perfect gentleman on the lead - well apart from the sniffing and leg cocking at every fence post ! 8-)

good morning, all.
well, i say good but for glasgow (and the art world in general i would imagine) it's definitely not. i couldn't believe it when i heard the news earlier - i thought they'd played an old clip by mistake. the photos are shockingly sad.
we are promised a bit of sun but it hasn't arrived yet. i was hoping for a lot of rain last night but i don't think that happened either.
my haul from the walled garden yesterday was radishes, turnips, chard, spinach, courgettes and salad leaves. i have also come home with a large, healthy kea plum in a pot (the bare rooted ones i potted up didn't survive the dry weather while we were in france), a root sucker (with a small root system of its own) from an old pear tree which, hopefully, is a quince, and four purple sprouting broccoli plants (and some baby borage plants pulled out of the herb bed as weeds).
oops, got distracted for an hour.
better get on with stuff.
it's still overcast.

Morning, dull and raining intermittently here, with an occasional fleeting ray or two of sunshine (what is a ray of sunshine, in terms of quantity?)

I am rather tired and low after visit to mother's so should keep moderately busy today. Stuff to do in the garden. In the house, of course, as ever. Lots of washing. Meanwhile I've only been up half an hour  I might have another coffee before I get going.

I hope everyone has a great day :D

overcast. the rain that we were promised yesterday didn't arrive. i have yet to see if we had any overnight - if we did it wasn't much. the beeb says it should be raining now.
off to a friends to look around and help to prune plum trees, this afternoon. the forecast says it will be dry then - i wonder if they'll get it right! am i right in thinking that the forecast has been less accurate than it used to be? i am considering going to the met office for the forecast in future (or metvu).

Good morning
Sun is slowly coming through here, getting quite bright
Not a lot planned for today until local backgammon tonight, so will just amble on
Need to kisten to my audio book, or I'll never get through it before Friday book club, I do tend to underestimate how long it takes to articulate every word vs reading them silently
Might also be good to have ear buds on as next door's builder appears to making fitted shrlving, so alternating between power tools and hammering

good morning, all.
the met say's the sun will come out soon.
yesterday's weather brightened up to less damp than it had been rather than to sunny intervals. the plum trees didn't get pruned - they would need a drier day. instead, we pruned grape vines and had a tour of the 'estate'. they have elm trees which didn't succumb to dutch elm disease (others there did but these seem resistant) and some baby ones growing, too. very heartening. it was such a downer when the countryside changed, thirty years ago, with the disappearance of elm trees.
nothing planned for the rest of the day,

good morning, all.
bright with patches of sun and a slight breeze.
my partner has bought me a new phone which should arrive in the next hour. my present one, a hand-me-on iPhone (from our son) is about eight years old and is now becoming unreliable (apple hasn't supported the operating system for a few years) and the case has cracked. i am rather sad as i think the physical design is far more pleasing than the newer ones. it's a shame they don't make modern ones with the same shell.
i know i should go for function over form but good design is good design, isn't it?
a walk on the beach, later this afternoon, is the only other thing planned today. low tide is at around a quarter to five.
have a good day, everyone.

Good morning
Overcast and humid here

I went for iPhone 7 plus as the screen is so good. I like it but the absence of a fixed back button drives me nuts and I had to invest in a pair of Apple ear buds with a lightening connector - on the plus side, they are very good and pretty comfortable

my new one is an iPhone se. at the moment my sight is good enough for a small screen and the se does all that i need (and probably a lot more). i prefer a small phone and it has all the basic stuff i need. i rarely use it for the internet (i often don't use the 100 megs i get on the goodybag in a month) so it doesn't have to have a big screen. i read on it when i haven't got my ebook with me but that would only be on an unplanned wait etc.
and i often use a very small handbag.
i'm now waiting for it to transfer from the old 3gs. it feels like i've taken it to have it put down!

I know that before too long I am going to have to replace my Sony with an Apple, I have no memory left and I have had it for about 4 years. It will interact well with the MacBook pro. Mr. Z has one and he can't put it down. I just need to wait for the funds to do it.

Very warm and humid here today but no sun..... GH is steaming.... in fact everything is growing like Billyo ! Including the weeds. The fluffs are finding it cooler indoors and are fast asleep.

Still need my water butts filling...... Some overnight torrential rain would be good.

yesterday was really a farm day although i drove some of the guys down to marazion for a yoga session in a field, next to the beach, followed by a pasty.
tonight the minack's offering is a play called 'journey's end' - set in a trench during the first world war. i have bought pastys for the occasion (i would have made them but i don't have a turnip (swede) and no room in the freezer (i make a large batch at a time, usually). i may only be able to eat half - yesterday's was very filling (philps's) - maybe i'll save the other half for tomorrow's trip 'down south'. they are good but we prefer mine - which have thinner (and slightly less dense) pastry and more filling.
wasn't 'in our time' interesting, this morning?
the coffilepathy isn't working.
have a grand day, everyone.

Good morning all :D

Am I right in thinking it's Mazey Day Scully? Are you joining in the festivities?

It's been a hectic week with family 'stuff' , visiting etc. Now all we have to do this weekend is go to my niece's wedding :D I've painted my toe nails ...

Have a lovely day all :D

good morning, all.
sunny with sunny spells followed by a bit more sun.
yes, it is mazey day but we won't be going. we went some years ago and penzance was so packed you couldn't really get to see anything. from what i remember my son had his driving theory test in 'mens pants' on mazey day. i dropped him off and it took ages to find somewhere to park.
we are in the time of year that we prefer not to go anywhere - coming home yesterday the road from the south up to the north, a road that is usually quite free of traffic, was busy both ways. i'll be sorry when the course finishes in two or three weeks but i won't be sorry about the journey at this time of year.
i got home yesterday to peanut and ginger cake cooked by the sun. he got distracted so didn't make dinner. there is only one chunk of the cake left so i think more is being baked today - i'm not complaining (other than the amount of bowls etc i had to clear up).
i was offered coffee over half an hour ago.
have a glorious day, everyone.

ps. sunscreen

Good noon
Overcast and not too warm heres, today is the last day before it starts to heat up (allegedly)

Woke up very late so will potter around before I tart myself up to be taken out for my birthday dinner
Just turned the hose on my mac to check the waterproofing, as it's the perfect conditions for doing a bit of maintenance on weather gear

Have agood afternoon everyone

good morning, all.
sunny and dry. i need to go and do some watering.
i noticed that the 'elephant garlic' had died back, yesterday, so i harvested. i had planted a bulb two or three years ago and though it flowered last year i couldn't harvest because it had started growing again while the flower was still young (and i wasn't able). the flower was very attractive. i have a reasonable harvest drying off in a large seed tray. i will give a bulb (or two) back to the friend who had originally grown it and who had eaten all her crop rather than saving some to replant.
going to look at another friend's garden down in mullion, this afternoon, hopefully.
have a lovely day, everyone.
