Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

good morning, all.
bright with a slight breeze.
been busy for the last few days so i'm being very lazy today and doing all the 'research' sort of things i needed to do while still in bed. i do not feel guilty.
i spent an hour of tuesday sat in a sauna powered totally by the sun - it was bliss.
yesterday was spent slopping slip at the farm.
nothing else is planned and the housework is taking care of itself (i.e. keeping quiet and out of my notice).
coffee is calling so i think it'll be down to me to make it as my partner is preparing abstracts of presentations for a conference - and my browsing is less urgent.
have a great day, everyone.

Good morning, all.
Sunny again.
Some hswk got done yesterday including a couple of loads of washing (why is hswk (spit) taken as a given but you get thanked for making a cuppa?).
Today, I may take on the bucolic task of picking apples. I should have picked up more boxes for storing them when the shopping was done the other day.
Have a glorious day, everyone.

Bright and sunny here. I have my little camera with me. I may take pics in Islington at lunch time. I may not. Very tired.

Good noon
We don't do bucolic here in the city, just a little rus in urbe, speaking of which I think I'll go for a walk to the local wetlands, either the natural one or the one on the disused reservoir

rain with a forecast of more rain - and then some more.
off to a ceramic agm in a short while, after abluting, which includes the rather good 'free' lunch.
i have managed to fix my email account. it was being disallowed by the antivirus. it still doesn't like me using eBay after a few page changes - but we're getting there.
better get a wiggle on if i want a coffee before i go.

Enjoy your ceramics scully,
Need to tidy up here and do stuff with photos, started doing it earlier this week but it seemed that every minor piece of software had updated in the two weeks since I last used it, and the new versions didn't want to cooperate with each other

yesterday's agm supplied us with dinner last night - the leftovers were mountainous - i just hope that there was very little to throw away when we had all done scavenging.

good morning, all.
overcast. i'm not bothering to comment on what it will/should be cos the forecast for yesterday got it completely wrong. instead of being dry with increasing sun later it was a total 'wet cat' day heading to soaked and 'i'll-sit-on-your-lap-until-you're-wetter-than-me' evening.
little planned for today but i fancy making biscuits - or do i mean i fancy eating biscuits‽‽
i have my coffee. why has the price of lavazza decaf gone up by over 30p in the last couple of months? from what i could see the other varieties of lavazza hadn't. do they have something against the people who react badly to caffeine?
i may have to change brands or drink less coffee (hmmmm - maybe not the latter).
have a good day, everyone.

there's a big bird trying to peck a hole in our roof - or a small bird that has learned to weald a lump hammer. it needs shouting at. if it's still there in a little while i'll go and do it - or instruct a cat to have a polite word.
jobs for today include washing, tidying, vacuuming, in fact hswk in general but at the moment i can think of quite a few ways of avoiding it. the one being employed right now is re-aligning a cat, who has pushed his way between the laptop and me, trying to sit on my chest with his 'poo shooter' in my face, sorry if that's a bad image to leave you with but why do they do that‽
he's moved, i've not - i'm trying out the coffilepathy.
have a good day, everyone.

Not a good start the day for me. I only just got into work due to crappy trains (should be in at 9.20). Finally manged to get on one, and 4 out of 8 coaches were filled with school kids. I asked if I could sit down on one of the seats that a child was sprawled across and a teacher leapt up and looked at me like I was going to molest the child, and said I could have her seat but not that one.
And now all the drinking glasses (most of which I bought) in my office are gone and someone at work is using my mug!!!! :o :) Oh and the elastic in my tights has 'gone'.

So I am playing Dandy Warhol's Good Morning on my head phones to try and simmer down.

Another dull day weatherwise.

good morning, all.
overcast and quite windy (more than the forecast suggests).
she has a strong thirties/forties influence in the dress, doesn't she, sue? the pin tucks and detail are good but, unless it's the angle of your photo or how it's sat on the manequin, she has a couple of issues with her fit and construction. i agree with you on the choice of fabric - it wouldn't have been mine. try it on though, things may be different in the wearing.
off to the farm in a short while so i'd better get my finger out.

Good morning
I think the problem with the fit is that it's a size 8 / 10 dress on a substantial mannequin, but when it was on the hanger and I picked it up and draped it over my arm it looked as if it would sit well - but on an 8 / 10, not on me!

Thinking of going to cook book club tonight, which involves making something to take, the book theme is On the Side, veg side dishes.

The garden centre is closing down (sad, but the owners are well into their 70s and lost interest some time ago) so I think I should walk up there, dropping off a parcel en route and collecting veg on the way back

Sounds like a plan

Apparently it's quite warm there. Husband thinks it's going to be 24 which, I am afraid, to his annoyance elicited a bit of a :? from me rather than the :D he was expecting, as I'd just packed my suitcase with winter things. I may have to shave my legs!!! But I am not taking sandals. Why is my carry-on bag so heavy...

re southern Germany, was surprised to see that (if you look at a standard map) it's roughly level with our house in Normandy! I suppose the more clement weather comes from being inland, and further east. My first trip abroad was to Goppingen, quite close to where OH is. It was very hot (mind you, I was coming from Sheffield!) and remember seeing peach trees growing there. You wouldn't catch peach trees growing (or fruiting, at least) in Basse Normandie - not even the bottom of it! :D

It's nice to have a bit of sun here in London, this morning.

Interesting, they grow and fruit outdoors in north herts.

Good morning, all.
Bright but overcast at the mo.
Where do they find the contestants on 'the apprentice'. Who, in their right mind, thought that (either team's effort) was good design? and that anyone would want to stay there.
I think we may need some shopping but I think I'm going to make the freezer disgorge some of it's archaeological specimens for the next couple of days.
The sun looks like it's trying to break through.

I don't watch the Apprentice, can't waste my life on that bunch of self-obsessed numpties

Yes, I'm tempted to go up to Enfield, easy by train, I'm on the right train line but there's another garden centre just below Dalston that kind of specialises in stuff suitable for small town gardens and there's always Homebase

I was thinking more of Oktoberfest than weather for Germany but I suppose one reason they can drink beer in tents is because the weather is suitable :D

Good morning from Germany. The sun is shining and the sky is blue. Not sure what the temperature is like. I am about to find out :)
I am itching to buy stuff for husband's rather basically equipped flat, especially the kitchen. But he probably doesn't cook... he only has two halogen rings, and that's it! No oven. No grill. No microwave even. I will probably persuade him to buy a counter top oven, but not sure I should as it's his flat. Also not much counter top! I might have to but some bits and bobs though :D . And some cooking basics. He has not even got salt and pepper!

I might have to do some cleaning too :o my feet got dirty on the way from the shower to the bedroom.

I used to like going to Enfield... is it Chase? (we were on the same line as you, Sue.). My husband used to enjoy the insects in the reptile shop :? Gosh was this really 16 years ago?

good morning, all.
sunny at the moment with a bit of a breeze.
coffee was handed to me, earlier, before my partner rushed off to buy something to beat the .... out of a lump of concrete.
i will be heading out to do the grocery shopping later.
i will not be buying coffee, that will be delivered early in the week from that big river online shop at more than a pound per packet cheaper than in the supermarket. i have a pang of guilt from using them, i feel as though i'm giving my support to their tax avoidance (evasion‽) but saving nearly ten quid on eight packs of lavazza is not to be sneezed at and i can put up with the guilt with the justification that if the government let them get away with it i will pretend that the saving is a tax rebate for me.

Is it worth taking the recently installed mid-weight duvet off the bed and swapping it for the lightweight one or will we be freezing if I do?

Enjoy the warm weather those of you who have it ... batten down your hatches if you're over there in the northwest.

good morning, all.
sunny, warm - and somewhat breezy.
i have put some washing in the machine; i think it may be a good drying day.
the beeb's weather forecast has been downgrading the wind level since last night, when it suggested that we would be getting 63mph. it's now down to 57mph at peak (2pm) and 49mph now. i have to say, it doesn't sound as bad as it has been in the past - it sounds like the normal autumn gales but that may be due to the direction it's coming from.
you can check the state of the sea here .

as my partner is 'sitting' at our son's house, with the plumber (an ex surfing buddy so they will be chin wagging at the same time), i have had to make my own coffee. - i know, tell me! - you just can't get reliable staff nowadays!
have a safe day, everyone.

What weird weather we are having here today..... The air is mustard yellow and the sun is orangy/red. It is about 20 degrees outside.

It's gone very dark and yellow here, now. Like a yellow-tinted eclipse. Very discomforting.

Good morning, all.
Normal weather has been resumed.
my partner has gone to get a tarpaulin for the shed roof before the rain hits this afternoon. A little light 'fencing' will be done as well. Mind you, metvu is showing another heap of weather coming in next weekend so the clear-up may be an ongoing operation. I must remember to go and check the roof - there were some odd sounds coming from up there yesterday.
Disappointed as I am not to have seen the colour changing sky, yesterday, I'm glad we didn't have to breath the air that came with it. Tough for those who did. I think I would have risked the ridicule and worn a respirator for the day.
Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning
Oddly enough the dust never got down to street level very much here, it stayed up in the sky on the whole
I remember we had a massive storm on the south coast early 70s when I was house sitting for my parents. The wind pulled out a row of mature floribunda roses just like you would pull out weeds and left them on the lawn. I heeled them back in and watered them and they were there for years

Pretty blue sky and sunshine here
Got lots of errands to run, and a WI celebration of Black History monthe to go to tonight, better
Have a good day

Good noon all :D

Brisk breezes and blue skies here in Norfolk.
Kitchen stuff happening today, rillettes, pies etc .......... but I do feel a bit tired after all our fresh sea air and walking yesterday ... I might have to have a siesta 8-)
Have a good day folks. :D
