Morning all! Another hot one today, I think. They are saying that London will be hotter than Barcelona this weekend. Time to put up the parasol in the garden.
Enjoy your day, everyone.

Good morning all :D
Sounds like someone's using a Bushwhacker in a nearby garden .... I hope they finish what they're doing soon ..... I've had to shut the windows 'cos of the noise .... can't hear the radio.
I've just chased up delivery of our garden pergola which is a week overdue ......... they don't understand what's happened ...... they'd better find out ........ I explained that at the moment I have all the time in the world to keep hassling them until it arrives :x That focussed the Customer Service chap's mind a bit.
I could lob a couple of Conference pears over your way Scully .......... with them might come a heap of paperwork which needs sorting and filing ... ;)
Enjoy your day folks :D

good morning, all.
sunny.
at the minack again tonight - with bought pastys - i don't have time to make them at the moment.
after a cup of coffee (already offered) has been brought i will disappear into the back room. life would be so much easier, at the moment, with a dressmaker's dummy. my daughter's body has been substituted by a coat hanger, a couple of bath towels, a piece of parcel ribbon, a t-shirt, a bra and a couple of socks. i'm not sure she'd appreciate the look.
i'm running out of time to produce my own outfit.
have a gorgeous day, everyone.

Good morning all :D
Life is beginning to return to normal ... I've hobbled around the terrace with the hosepipe watering pots, deadheaded the roses and hung some washing out. I had my mobile phone with me just in case.
Now I'm on the sofa with a :mug: but in my imagination I'm with Rick Stein on a barge in France .......... Problem is he's making me hungry :hungry:

good morning, all.
sunny.
the little day is thursday, the big 'party' day is saturday, suffolk.
i may be able to start my garb today, if i'm lucky. this is the longest i've ever spent on making a dress. it hasn't helped having to take a pattern off another dress, using a very, very lightweight silk and not having the wearer to keep trying it on. there may have to be some last minute panic stitching done on wednesday.
coffee is being consumed and i'll retreat to the back room very soon. they tell me the sunshine is lovely!
have a glorious day, everyone.

ps. i've been given permission leave out the hat.

If you sat outside and hand sewed fine silk here today you'd end up with grubby sweat marks on it (done that)
It's a tad warm here....

it's the fabric and embroidery from a very old sari - i was sent home with a bar of vanish last week - there are tiny marks already and although hot here, not as hot and sweaty as 'up the smoke' - and the hand sewing is on the lining.
but coffee has been drunk so i'll get on with it now.

heading for sunny.
off to the docs again this morning then a quick trip in to the city to get a bit of heap curtain lining (or other cream, cotton fabric) and a bit of shopping - the cats will start gnawing at my ankles otherwise.

Overcast and muggy here .... it seems having had the soaker hose on the Shady Bank yesterday evening gave the hedgehogs an opportunity to harvest all the slugs and bugs who came out to play in the damp darkness :D
More watering today ... but also reaping the rewards ... Swiss chard yesterday, more broad beans and courgettes today ... and maybe a lettuce for lunch ....

Morning everyone! VERY hot and sweaty again in London town. Sleeping only just about possible under a sheet and with the windows open. The pots almost need water twice a day - everything is so dry. Both birds and squirrels are coming to drink from the bird bath. I wonder how they manage to keep cool. I do feel sorry for those dogs with the big shaggy coats!

Good morning
I have a visit to the dentist this morning, hust routine.
Was very hot last night, I ended up sitting outside with an audio book for a whike with all the windows wide
I walked back from the tournament last night about 11 pm, and due to the damp heat the air smelled wonderful, like honey, mainly lime blossom I think, and then every so often a hint of scent from a garden. (OK, and the odd ripe dustbin). My terrace smelled of mint and lemon basil
Have a good day, keep cool

good morning, all.
getting sunny.
we had 31°C yesterday - i'm happy with that, i know others aren't - my partner was sat in his underpants for the afternoon (sorry for that image at this time in the morning).
we are promised the same today - the weather, maybe not my partners attire.
lots to do today.

Good morning
We too got to 31 or 32, not really pleasant as quite humid, as the day went on we acquired a breeze which helped, and luckily for me it was overcast first thing, so I didn't get the hit of solar warming on my east facing windows and that helped a lot.
Got quite a lot of 'stuff' to do, but will resume my beach dress and sit outside too. Pub quiz later
Happy solstice everyone

Good morning all :D
It was cooler here yesterday ... overcast and around 25C ... much more comfortable ... think the cloud was coming down from the north Norfolk coast ... but daughter in Suffolk said it was another hot and sunny day there. Think we're getting hot and sunny here today too 8-) I've done some watering and put the soaker hose on the Shady Bank ... OH is at work today so I'll make a potato salad ... IIRC he said he'd planned supper today and has put a pizza in the freezer.
The fish van will be at the farm shop this morning so OH will ask Adrian to make up a pack of his special fish pie mix and tomorrow I'll make us a fish pie for supper ........ :chef: That shouldn't involve too much standing.
Yes, Summer Solstice .......... better get the sprouts on ...... ;)
Have a lovely day folks :D

good morning, all.
overcast.
the weekend was wonderful. everyone enjoyed themselves and said what a brilliant time they were having, the food was fantastic, the booze didn't run out (they have sensible friends), there was only one glass broken (on the steps during the photos), i had one very sedate dance and there was copious laughter and smiles during the rest of the dancing. the candlesticks looked amazing on the tables - and we now get more sunlight into our living room as all the bay, left long for decoration, has now had its yearly, rather drastic, cut back.
- and my daughter looked incredible in both the dresses.
brunch yesterday morning, at the beach cafe in falmouth, was well attended and the sun shone.
this morning, we have to go to the venue for the clear out job so i'd better get moving.
the job after that will be looking at and photographing all the fabric, with the labels, given for the quilt and finding out what style of embroidery they want on it etc.
better move,
have a good day, everyone.

good morning, all.
overcast with a promise of rain.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BVwjdfKhpyp ... ted_brides - this is a link to the photographer's instagram account. we haven't any other photos yet - we left the day to the photographer - who was brilliant. the only time we saw her was during the time before heading to the venue for 'dressing up' and relaxing over breakfast with the bridesmaids photos, the 'ceremony', and then the group photos. the rest of the time she was mingling around - and i can, honestly, say i didn't see her. the dress in the photos that the link should go to does not show the dress i made - can you see me sewing on all those sequins‽‽‽ a photo may appear at a later date.
the quilt idea was a good one. they have all that they want and if they need anything else they would rather have their own choice of things. they also didn't want to make it even more expensive for guests who have to come down from upcountry with no family to stay with and then feel the need to shell out on a relatively expensive gift. so a bit of fabric doesn't break the bank - and it could have been something that they'd already had anyway.
anyway, tonight, we are off to the minack with the 'newlyweds' to see a miracle theatre production of 'the third policeman'. it is forecast to rain there, too.
have a lovely day, everyone.

Lovely photos Scully ... My mum made my wedding and bridesmaids dresses and I adorned them all with lace and made our head dresses too .. When my sister got married a year later, I also made mine and the other bridesdmaid's small bouquets, using the same silk flowers that trimmed the sleeves of our dresses .. .. such a satisfying thing to do .. :tu:

We had feint drizzle (but just cooling) with coffee and cakes at 11.30am today. Cool soup and dolmades on the patio with similar amounts of wetness for an hour and now it is turning into a steady downage. Pray homage to the water butts. :kneel: :kneel: we need it.

good morning, all.
raining.
it just about stayed dry for the minack, last night, just the odd, faint, blow in the wind of spit. not enough to put the rain hood up.
we all had supper from the 'hotpot' shack in the car park. very tasty - we may do it again while i'm not in pasty making mode.
my daughter also gathered a selection of succulent leaves (the fallen/knocked off ones, honest) for me on the way back to the car. i have a garden project coming on.
i think it may have been raining lightly all night so our butts may be full, too, and no need to water for this week by the looks of it.
have a mellow day, everyone.
