Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

Smitch sorry to hear your news. Herb, glad to hear the cloud lifted. Mr. Z. found that after 55 it was impossible for him to get a job. It would seem that the age is now getting earlier and earlier..... Employers can employ a youngster and not have to pay so much for them. It's not good for the older ones. Hopefully in the near future we will be in a different scenario, and we will be able to relax when these blasted continental lawyers sort out the situation.

A smattering of frost on the back lawn today and the sky is cloudy ? Hair appt. @ 9.30. Dotty the hen seems to be starting to lay again, There were some very odd 'egg' occurrences/shellless/ tiny/misshapen ones, thought she might have egg peritonitis but she seems to be sorting herself out.

Thanks Zosh. Poor Dotty.

Cold here. I am heading up north to see my mother, so I imagine even colder up there. The cats are (thus) keen for a cuddle, but I have to go soon.

Hope Dotty is fine, and good journey Herbi.

Off to the Travel Show at Olympia then on to my friend's

Cold and sunny here so far, very cold, so will wrap up as if travelling rather further than Olympia

Have a good day everyone

blue sky with clouds.
we are off for a walk on the beach followed by a fuel run and trip to 'traygs'.
the lazy boy cat seems to have decided it was too cold while we were away and may have decamped to someone else's house.

I was trying to explain the above to Mr. Z. today on the journey to Southall, he asked me what your hubby does, but said I was not sure....

We had a dry very cold and mainly sunny day, wind was cold but no rain. Mud on the back roads means the car is in need of another clean

good morning, all.
sunny and chill with an easterly breeze.
it only takes one word in a contract to be wrong to lose a firm a lot of money - or a stock market punt to miss the mark. in those sort of situations a million is rather less than it would be to us plebs. next time can he lose it my way, please?
the lazy boy returned to the fold the night before last (along with a tick), dribbling his head off with pleasure. he has been attached firmly to us ever since.
off to a meeting later, which i will follow by picking up some post and chipping some tile cement off what was/will be a kitchen wall.
have a glorious day, everyone.

Good morning, all.
Sunny but chilly.
Today, I plan to take the vacuum cleaner etc to remove the ex tile cement from the floor - along with dried mud and sawdust.
I also need to think about about getting some sewing done - but it's a little chill in the spare room so it may still only be thought about.
Coffee is needed before I do any of that through.
Have a grand day, everyone

Good morning all :D

There does seem to be a tummy bug sweeping the country Sue ... not a violent one but an 'out of sorts' with 'a bit of discomfort' sort of thing. I'm recovering after a week of feeling 'not quite right'. Actimel drinks seem to be helping. Friends in France who spent time in the UK about ten days ago seem to have spread it throughout their part of the Dordogne.

Flippin chilly here too ........ I was going to do a little h*wk but that's been scuppered by OH who is photographing paintings in the open plan living area ... I don't do h*wk after midday so that's obviously it for today. I shall find something more interesting to occupy my time.

Have a good day all :D

He trades energy for an energy company. The change in the weather had an adverse affect on the markets. Not sure if he is still trading options, but (I think...!) he agrees on a price then has to wait to see how the markets go. (Sorry if this sounds ridiculously childlike as an explanation and the real one is more obvious. I have always had trouble understanding what he does. A bit of a mental block. My job is so much easier to understand :) There is maths involved as well as experience and knowledge, but there is also an element of luck. 1,000,000 is a lot of money but no, it's not as devastating as it could be. It's a large company that can take losses, although if he doesn't make some gains in the next few months, and if he makes more losses, he will be in trouble.

We had snow here this morning. My north London colleagues didn't seem to have any.

I felt very nauseous over the weekend, but I assumed it was a migraine thing as I had a bad headache too.

Hey ! where are you all ??? It's still dark but still tucked up in bed with a couple of mithersome fluffs wondering if it will be time to be let out soon?

Ebay seller finally contacted me so will be going to collect my new/used pressure cooker at some time later today.

We need to move some gubbins from the side of the shed ready for tomorrow when part of the leyllandi hedge is removed. There is a new fence behind the hedge so we will loose some maintenance but gain some garden where I plan to grow a honeysuckle along the fence.

Looks like another cold one is on the cards for today, I wonder if we have any of the white stuff, the skies were clear last night, so probably not.

big lumps coming straight down. this is a rare occurrence - there is a confused cat sitting in the garden watching it - a black cat being polka dotted with white.
I've put the kettle on (it was a hard squeeze getting an arm through the spout!). i'm hoping that a hint will be taken.

Snow again here, and the early sunshine has disappeared just as it did yesterday. The birds are all very hungry and hoovering up the suet, oats and nuts and seeds OH put out first thing.

good morning, all.
chilly and a bit breezy.
i was back from the farm in half an hour as the weather had stopped play. there had been some heavy hail in the night which was hanging around and making driving difficult. it had taken one of the staff an hour and a quarter to do two miles. i think i would have left the car and walked! there were no such problems on the roads i had to use, but as the people i should have been working with weren't coming in, i came home.
i could have been paid for drinking coffee and sitting around but there seemed no point.
today, we are going for a meal with some friends - and i will be indulging in a sauna (thanks to the sun - and my mother!)
have a good day, everyone.

good morning, all.
sunny with a bit of cloud.
it was 9°c on the way home yesterday evening - rather different from the hour i'd spent sitting in 65°c with some cold (but slowly warming) ginger beer - bliss.
we had intended to binge on the last series of game of thrones today but we forgot to bring it home with us, in the same way that we'd forgotten to pick up the previous sets to return to our friends. i may just have to go for another sauna soon.
we caught up with mcmafia last night. it has a hint of aspiration to being another version of 'the night manager' without the glamour and polished acting. i can't stop seeing james norton in a dog collar.
hope you feel better soon, herbi.

overcast and breezy. the beeb says there's a hundred percent chance of rain - i think they may be right.
oops, got sidetracked for an hour.
this morning seems to be slipping away. i was all prepared to go to a ceramics meeting today but when i checked last night i realised that it was not being held where i had thought it was and that i should have booked a place as there were limited places. oh well, probably a good thing as i was awake for a couple of hours in the night and only woke up again at the time i would have had to have been in pz (or mens pants if you prefer a local nickname). it does mean i could do some prep for a meeting i have tomorrow - or some hswk (shudder).

The day has been usefully spent so far in unwrapping a consignment of art supplies, making a batch of mushroom soup and de-cobwebbing the house.
This afternoon I shall mainly be knitting the button band on DD's cardi and watching energetic people doing stuff on snow and ice, from the comfort of my cozy sofa.

Good afternoon
A lot of the morning slipped away from me too, I was thinking tof trotting to the farmer's market, more for exercise than for food, but the rain has just built up so not worth, it will just trot round the park instead if it ever lets up

Did a bit of clearing up instead and now doing all the little tasks that are better done on a proper PC than a tablet

Stay warm and dry folks, hope it is better tomorrow, we have a city walk planned.

Good afternoon all :D
Jolly blustery here ...
Drawers tidy, house tidy, lunch eaten, supper prepped .............. I'd better get on with this button band for DD's cardi ........and probably watch people sliding around on snow and ice ........
Have a good day folks :D

We had a couple of proper heavy hail storms. Typical early spring weather. Fantastic sky. :D
