Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

Good morning
Clearing up, a bit of packing, book club. At some point a walk in then sun
Off to Bristol for the weekend, annual backgammon tournament. Forecast is cold and bright, so I need layers and my good coat.
Chicken salad for lunch, nibbles tonight

Good morning all

We've just had a heavy shower but now it's sunny. I needed the broad beans watering in so that's a job done :tu:

Pastys to make today ... so I'd better get up and at'em

Have a good day folks.

good morning, all.
the weather seems to be swinging between sunshine and hail. we're back in the sunshine - no we're not.
eating too much of an indian takeaway with the local young, last night, meant a very uncomfortable and disturbed night. overloading my microbiome may have added to the greenhouse effect rather considerably. you'd have thought i'd learned my lesson by now - but then i couldn't refuse the massive portion (which i couldn't finish - shock horror) of home made, sticky toffee pudding and ice cream.
i think a bowl of veg (and lentil‽‽ ) soup may be all i need today.
have a good afternoon, everyone.

bright sunshine - and predicted so for the rest of the day.
brilliant night's sleep, thank goodness. please remind me not to be so piggy next time we get a takeaway.
bread will be cooked today, either by the sun or conventionally, - and a little bit of dough held back.

This morning's heavy rain has been superseded by brilliant sunshine ... let's hope it lasts ... we're off to one of our favourite Suffolk coastlines with our cameras ... we're taking pasties and a flask of coffee ... then we'll be delivering his winter woollies to DS ... he doesn't have much storage room on the houseboat but he needs his woollies now.
have a lovely day all :D

It can't decide what to do here either. Rain one minute and bright sunshine the next. Sometimes at the same time. Quite windy too.

I am sometimes surripse that we all have similar weather when we are quite far apart. When I'm in France you can drive thouigh and out of one weather, seeing the next lot on the horizon in ten minutes.

Your trip sounds perfect, Suffs. I'd love a chance to get my camera out, especially out in the countryside.

good morning, all.
sunny and a bit chilly.
the bread got cooked by the sun and a lemon drizzle cake got cooked by the more indirect, conventional means. it would have been a polenta cake but i had no ground almonds - must put that on the list - along with more lemons.
removing the rest of the old roof from inside the garage is one of the jobs for today, along with the associated trips to the dump.

Good morning all :D

We had wall to wall sunshine a little while ago so I prevailed on OH to hang the first load of washing out while I kneaded the bread ... now the sky is clouding over and looking ominous ... I've explained that it's the job of whoever hung it out to get it back in again if it rains when I'm at the shops getting some fish for supper  :tu:

Love polenta cake ... I'm thinking of an orangey one for Cmas rather than the conventional cake which never gets eaten ... Tom Kerridge has a good recipe :chops:

Have fun with the garage roof Scully :tu: and take care ;)

Getting the strength back is good scullion, I need to start working on my right leg, I think the injury has actually healed completely at last and need to build up the strength

Overcast and cool here, need to do various things I haven’t done since I got back from holiday.

good morning, all.
sunny with patchy cloud is predicted for today but it's sunny at the moment - and a little warmer than it's been for the last couple of days.
off to the farm today. the kiln will be emptied of a load of rather colourful stars for which i must remember to take in a roll of invisible thread. some plain white ones were glazed, too which are earmarked for making a couple of mobiles. i will need to sweet talk the man responsible for the wood in the tractor shed for some thin doweling.

Chimney balloons do the same job but are plastic and fiddly, sheep sound more fun as well as more practical. Just need to block the flue with something easily removed and replaced

patchy sun and cloud but no rain forecast - not that that means anything as it wasn't predicted yesterday but pelted down in the afternoon.
off to do some gardening labouring in a bit, after drinking my coffee.

I suppose strictly speaking it should be pasties ... but you see it so often in Cornwall spelt pastys ... and they should know ... when in Rome etc (although I'm in Norfolk just now).

Good noontime - ish all :D

Just looked on the Aspects holidays webcams ... there are loads of folk in the water on Porthmeor beach ... even in wetsuits I wouldn't go in here ... too chilly.

good morning, all.
the weather has changed, it's now windy and with an eighty percent chance of rain in a couple of hours.
pumpkin soup/chowder will be made for lunch as i bought home a massive pumpkin from the farm on wednesday that needs using (it had split at the end of it's growth). maybe a thread for using up pumpkins would be an idea (i'll go and check out the squash recipes thread first). we may be eating this one for a few days
i think a coffee is first on the list, though - my partner is using the dry bit of weather so i'll have to make my own.

Good after-morning all :D

I have spent the morning doing laundry and prepping the ingredients in order to assemble a biryani this afternoon for supper this evening.

Tomorrow we'll head for MIL's and onward to a family funeral up north ... soon we'll have to leave an extra helping out for the hedgehogs as they're still visting every night ... NDN is laid up at the moment so we can't ask her to feed them ...

Enjoy the pumpkin :D

Good morning
Overcast and dull here
Getting on with bits
My chimney sheep has been delivered to the sandwich shop as when I went down to collect it from the postie I found I was locked in. The number pad lock is broken, no handle on the inside, and some idiot closed it behind them instead of leaving it ajar and locked me in. Quite easily opened with a hefty pair of pliers but I need to make sure it is replaced, which was on today’s list anyway, only broke late on Friday. Now lock held open with a piece of Gorilla tape, which I also used to waterproof my mail box which was leaking where the top lid is hinged

Onwards and upwards

Good morning
Cold didn’t develop so I went to the Tower, will post pics on the Remembrance thread. It was much more marshalled than the Poppy display, as everyone has to see it in the three hours after sunset, whereas the poppies could be seen all day.
In some ways there was less to see than the poppies, as there isn’t the scuptural element. Still glad a I saw it though

Won a small backgammon tournament on the way home so made a profit on the evening

Have a good day every

Good morning all :D

We're back from northern parts ... avoided the Mersey Gateway and took the scenic route home through Tintwistle and over the High Peaks ... the sun was glorious and the autumn colours amazing ... larches, beeches, grasses, heathers ... all different shades of gold under a blue sky ... stunning!

Drizzly here today ... washing will be draped.

I stubbed my toe (ring finger one if that makes sense) and it's flippin hurts! Hobblin' around in slippers ... thankfully I don't need to do much today and at least I'm not driving all day as I was yesterday.

There's a woodpigeon been purched about 4' along on the ridge of the house opposite ever since I got up this morning ... he looks very disgruntled.

Nice to make a profit on an evening out Sue :tu:

Have a good day folks :D

Dull, dark and damp...

Lots of colleagues have colds. I am supposed to be going to Paris next week, so upping the garlic (I ave a sore throat.) Last visit but one I had a terrible cold, and spent half my time in bed in the hotel.

I say supposed to, as I went to the passport office yesterday to get as replacement for my faulty (chip) one - I had been told it would be done in a day, but after the passport had been whisked away I was told it should take a week!!! I am booked onto a Eurostar train on Thursday. This has replaced all the excitement about the (very expensive replacement birthday) trip with anxiety :( The rang the passport office when I got back to the office and they say there is nothing they can do to hurry it along, or if it doesn't arrive in time.

On a more positive side though (although I am not quite feeling it...) I am going to a book awards ceremony tonight. The food book I worked on has been shortlisted. A first for me!

I have to say, my general outlook at the moment is a bit negative. (Grim weekend at mother's.)
