good morning +

Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

There's a pretty sky this moring. Golden clouds.
Office party this afternoon :(
Supposed to be going on a tour of Down St. but I think Iwon't go (in spite of expense and difficulty getting tickets :o ) as I am really not feeling well. Also only had about 4 hours sleep last night.
Husband is coming home for the weekend for the first time since October! I hope the shiny kitchen distracts him from the slovenliness elsewhere!

I hope everyone has a good day.

I escaped from the Christmas party half way through the main course :o I couldn't stop coughing. Seemed the merciful thing to do for all involved. Spicy Indian food (which was very nice) wasn't helping. I hope I don't get into trouble.

Why ever would you get into trouble? :? You were not well ... you did the sensible thing ... that way you could go home to get well and avoid spreading germs to your colleagues.

Because certain people high up are not sympathetic.

The last one I went to, I had a terrible headache and nausea and was told to take my coat off and eat something. I suppose a cough can't be denied though. They probably didn't notice.

Horrid weather, freezing rain coming in sideways..... Don't blame the brickies for not turning up today, it would be fruitless. Don't think I will attempt the chimney sweeping today, weather looks better for tomorrow.

Good morning

Won't be posting much as can't see my phone until I get new specs and I just ordered a replacement keyboard, this one is nearly 5 years of old, I must have written several books worth on it, and it cost very little

Looks like a good pottering day

Enjoy

Good morning, all.
Wet,breezy and a little chilly - although not as chilly as yesterday evening.
The film last night was entertaining - it could hardly not be with the music available. I'm not sure how many stars a reviewer would give it though - three, maybe four if they're lucky.
We were up early as our daughter had to be at the station before twenty past seven.
When they'd left I went back to bed. My partner did the same when he returned.
We are out to a Christmas party with bands and meal, tonight- a joint birthday present from the upcountry young. Should be fun.
Glad the eyes went well sue, and hope the cold is gone soon, herbi.
Have a cosy day, everyone.

Ps. My units look great, really pleased.

good whatever, all.
raining and not a cold as it was last night even though it's the same temperature (8°c). the wind last night made it feel way colder.
cat medicated, milk and bread bought from the village shop, and potatoes and a beautiful cauliflower (50p) from the farm gate - now home for a coffee.
i should do some more tidying in the kitchen shouldn't i‽‽ hmmm...
have a good afternoon, everyone.

i'm looking for a 90cm angled/vertical, wall mounted one. i've found one that seems to fit the bill but i can't find any reviews for it - it's an airforce one (it says they are part of the elica group). i've seen the hand driers with the name on so the company isn't an unknown. maybe the hood is quite new.

Ah I see. Well Which can't help you there. It's funny I realize I'd be reluctant to buy anything without reviews these days. Not sure how valid most reviews are anyway.

Quite windy out today. It says 15/16 (mph?) Lots of cloud. I am sitting in my dressing gown (I am wearing a black dress today. I have cats.) wishing I could just stay like this (at home) for a few more hours until I go back to bed for a sleep :o
No obligations today, other than work. Last night was one of my writers' group's Christmas dinner. Tomorrow, a friend from home town... (which will be a bit of a trial, I fear.) But today. Oh the post office :o To return some clothes. That could take my whole lunch hour!
I hope everyone had a great day.

A very pink and fluffy sky this morning.
The Russians have obviously been reading up on Cornish history ... apparently they’re blaming the Cornish for the beaching ... shame it apparently had no cargo eh? Presumably it didn’t have enough ballast either if it was so susceptible to the wind

The sun's out now. It looks more cheerful than I feel. Husband was 'asked to resign' this morning. Not a bolt from the blue, but obviously upsetting and worrying.

I have to go out tonight- to meet a friend. I really don't want to. (She is not a close friend, and is very self absorbed, but she's come for the day so I can't back out.)

Thanks.

Yes he will be home for a while Sue, but he will not be in a good way. He usually goes straight into OCD behaviours (I guess something to do with trying to regain control in his life) primarily to do with spending (anything. If I want/need to buy myself anything, now would be the time... ) and eating (as in, not.) His sense of self identity is tied up with working, so it's not going to be easy.

He will have to go back after Christmas to tie up loose ends and arrange to have his stuff sent back to England. (So he won't be around to supervise the new boiler installation...)

good morning, all.
the sun is shining and birds are singing. nice not to have deluvial levels of rain.
we are off to a funeral at lunchtime. septicaemia hits any age - a sobering thought.
how to give someone a rubbish christmas! - but is it possible that this may be a time for your husband to think about a change in career, herbi? has he been truly happy in that job? maybe there's something else out there, that would really suit him, that he hasn't considered doing before. you're never too old to retrain.
better shift, i have stuff to do before we go out.

I do like the word 'deluvial'...

I hope the funeral goes as well as it can, Scullion. My aunt died of septicemia in her early 60s.

My husband does love what he does. It's going to be hard to change direction. But necessary, I think. If not now, then soon.

I think how enjoyable Christmas is will depend on him. tbh it wasn't going to be much fun anyway, at my mother's... :o It can be what we make it, though.

Fast moving cloud outside that's so low it almost look like smoke. I just popped out to put some bird food out and it's very mild. Spottted a huge (leopard? It was quite dark( slug in a plant po.
Last day at work today, and finishing at lunch time. Husband comes home for Christmas too, today. I told my mother he staying for two weeks and she said "Oh perhaps he could come up and defrost the freezer with you." :( I think not. I told her he needs to rest and not travel (but didn't say...up to Sheffield twice in two weeks, especially as he will not be seeeing his own mother) I will go back later in January to do this. (She originallly wanted me to do it on Christmas Day, but I had already dissuaded her.)

May go off in search of a bigger chirstmas tree stand, but I fear it will be a wild goose chase. I think the one we have is the biggest people stock at th best of times. We used to use a bucket with bricks and soil when I was a child.

good morning, all.
murky and damp but not raining at the moment.
the funeral had been planned by the subject (?), in the past - and not to be sad . the last song played was 'intergalactic laxative' by donovan. this was followed by a new orleans type jazz band leading through the village to the aggie. the weather behaved itself, too.
caught up with friends - why does the song 'ten green bottles' come to mind‽‽‽
i hope your christmas isn't too arduous, herbi, and that it's a case of doors and windows for your husband.
have a good day, everyone.

Good morning
Herbi to be honest, if Dyas don’t have a more suitable tree stand I’d give up and trim

I don’t think defrosting freesets is suitably Christmassy either

Done the only thing that had to be done today which was to call the DWP, did it at 9.30 am as I doubt they would be very interested in me after noon today

Good you got away with the weather for the funeral scully, I’ve always quite fancied the New Orleans parade, for Mum we went out to Humphrey Littleton’s Bad Penny Blues; she was a huge Humph fan and could jive so it seemed suitable. Know what you mean about 10 green bottles though

Have a good day everyone

Good afternoon folks :D
Shopping done ... washing washed, dried, folded, put away and more in the machine ...
Jolly windy here ... hold onto your hats everyone and have a good day. :D

Good morning. Bright and promising looking here at the mo.

Husband managed to get the tree to fit in the stand last night. The lights are on it. I will do the rest this evening.

Not sure what we are doing today. We are carless for some of today, as the car's just gone in for an oil change.

I hope everyone has a good day.

good morning, all.
sunny glimpses and the breeze is decreasing.
off to do some shopping in a couple of hours, when my partner comes back with the car - do you think there'll be anything left in the shops? we need mainly the ordinary stuff - like fruit and some veg. i don't need to think about christmas dinner other than a couple of indian dishes. i may get some gluten free filo pastry though, as one of the people coming is a coeliac and i fancy making samosas.
i have found a really good use for the large amount of ground carob we were given, while in portugal, earlier this year. a couple of teaspoons in the aeropress makes a good drink to have in the evening as the caffeine in cocoa tends to have the palpitating effect when i go to bed. i will have to go on the hunt when the jar runs out.
have a good day, everyone.

Will try to get out in a while

Don’t really need to go anywhere in particular though was thinking of walking down to the Chinese shop for some bits and pieces
