Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

good morning, all.
overcast at the moment with a prediction of sun. 10°c and the wind from last night has dropped. the lazy boy cat woke me up at an ungodly hour - it had obviously been raining quite heavily - he dried off - not sure if he did it for himself or just used the bedcover while sleeping as i went back to sleep, thank goodness.
the car's cam belt is being changed - is it ok to go and do the shopping in the courtesy car‽
plastering starts on wednesday and i have to go and look at tiles.
have a good day, everyone.

I got some of the first set but the second set were all quite obscure ... I felt really sorry for the contestant ... I’m sure OH would’ve got some , there were several from the 80s which he is pretty knowledgeable about ... but he was at work this morning ... I’ll suggest he Listens Again tonight.

good morning, all.
the met says we have a ten percent chance of rain at the moment - we are that ten percent. it's also a bit breezy
yoga this morning then, this afternoon, a bit of prep before the plastering starts.
we have fruit and veg again. we dropped in to tesco for a couple of bits including some pasteis de nata. tesco's ones aren't the best but i now consider them to be par-baked - a few minutes in a hot oven cooks the bottoms and crisps up the walls of the pastry without effecting the filling. we're going to be piggy today.
have a good day, everyone.

good morning, all.
the downpour has stopped for a while and a blackbird is doing its best to out sing any other birds that may be out there.
the farm was given a very large box of 300g pots of custard by the local (very famous cream maker beginning with r) for some reason, yesterday.
it's use by date is saturday although i think a couple more days should be fine - i hope so as i came home with a dozen pots. it's not low calorie - it's 20% clotted cream - and gurt lush. i've handed some on to neighbours and i'm going to experiment with a pot to see if it will make ice cream (although it says it doesn't freeze). my diet, yesterday, was very poor consisting of custard, chips and a blood orange (the latter when i finally got in at ten).
i promise i'll do better today - although custard may be on the menu.
have a good day, everyone.

Good morning
Ooh, I’d love some of that custard. I’m sure the instruction means “don’t freeze expecting it to thaw back to nice custard”, ice cream should be fine

I had a very healthy meal last night; I had bought a pack of beetroot gnocchi and decided to dress with soft goat cheese and dill, then when I was flicking through Country Life at the clinic I saw a similar recipe finished with toasted flaked almonds, so added those. Just the thing.

Ooh the sun has come out. I’m off. Have a good day everyone

Good afternooon all :D

Back from a very blustery bus trip to the market just before the deluge arrived here!

Scully ... here’s an idea for your custard https://saffronbunny.wordpress.com/2014 ... s-custard/

Moules marinere with a load of Brancaster mussels for supper, so I’d better put my feet up for ten mins before I start de-bearding.

Keep those hatches battened and have a good afternoon everyone :D

definitely ice cream with most of what's left, it was glorious.
now i'll have to make space in the freezer.

i'm not sure it's available out of county - it may be a new line - or an experimental line.

good morning, all.
it's windier than when we had a weather warning the other day - but we don't have one today, and it's a bit wet.
a bit of stuff to do this morning followed by a trip south-ish to pick up some pottery gear, for the farm, from a friend who is winding down her pottery.
then dinner with the local young, tonight.
why do cats have to announce their presence when they come in before it's light, leap damply all over you and then go to sleep, leaving you awake? cooking fat!
coffilepathy is now being practiced.
have a cosy day, everyone.

good morning, all.
breezy and bright, dry cat.
wall prepping today.
i made ice cream with the remaining five pots of custard last night. it's amazing how much room you can find in a freezer when you need it - dinner last night was tagine that had gone in some time in the past followed by a pineapple - and a pot of custard that didn't get made into ice cream.
better get going.

Jolly windy but bright here ... and at least it’s dry. :D
Washing is in machine ... OH is getting ready for work and apart from a little light dusting the day is mine. Minestrone was made yesterday and supper is baked spuds and sausages so meals are catered for. Left knee was a bit irritable yesterday after charging around in the city on Thursday so will rest it and read and knit today.

raining.
off to finish the wall prepping in a bit - difficult stripping. we stopped at about midnight last night. there's a little left to do before a grit coat can go on today.
we had a pasty from the freezer for dinner. my pasty craving has been sated for a while.
have a good day, everyone.

ps. just spoke to builder. she says they have an emergency ceiling plaster job to do today so they'll be with us to grit coat on monday and the difficult stuff doesn't need to be removed - i've got back into bed with my coffee,

We drove in and out of driving rain and hail on the way down from Sheffield yesterday.

I felt cold when I woke up this morning, but there's no frost an it was sunny. Clouded over now.

Nothing planned for today other than work, which frankly I don't want to do either, but needs must...

good morning, all.
sunny at the moment and no rain predicted for the next couple of days.
the wall was finished last night so the grit coat goes on today and the plaster tomorrow.
coffee has been offered. we are out to the local young's for dinner tonight - it had been postponed due to migraine. some interview practice will be done at the same time for our son's partner. she has two next week. if she gets it it will mean that both of our young will be upcountry (our son's work want him to move to the london office). good for them, sad for us.
i think we may be off to falmouth today - but not before coffee.
maybe it's time to write your own books, herbi?

overcast.
there's a blackbird doing its best to herald in the spring, out there. either that or its trying to imitate the alarm on my phone. whichever way its loud and beautiful.
yoga this morning and dropping something to the young before that and before they hop upcountry.
dinner with them, last night, was lovely. mushroom burgers with spicy cheese melted on top of the garlic buttered mushrooms.
didn't go south yesterday, may do this afternoon.
better shift if i want a coffee before yoga.

overcast but dry. according to the car it was 11°c yesterday - the forecast says the same today.
the blackbird is giving it large out there again. it's probably trying to attract a mate.
at the farm today. we have a load of stains and glazes to go through, put into better containers, and test - if i can put my hands on a load of test tiles, quickly, before i go.
better move or i'll be late.

Bright here. Nice weather forecst for the next couple of days too.Work then writing meeting tonight. Was so not with it this morning, I tried to take a contact lens out of my eye rathre than put it in. (Involves stroking iris/eyeball with finger.)

This is in spite of (because of?) taking yesterday off to recovwr from mother's. Went to Rainham Marshes, took lots of photos of geese... then camera card corrupted, so lost most of them :( But it was a nice trip and lovely weather.

Good morning
As I’ve said elsewhere, I’ll have to get Niki’s books on Kindle as there is way too much text for me to wade through even with my improved vision and new specs, means missing out on the illustrations a bit but I don’t much like them

Itamar did a good chat with her in a Honey & Co podcast, the date is January so will be around for a while, they cover both books
Better get on

No the illustrations are kind of ultra modern (? or maybe it's passe now) infographicy, but oddly the overall feel to me is more 1970s or possibly '60s. I have to say, I get a plot of pleasure out of looking at food photos in cookery books, but this is one to read, primarily, anyway.

Niki dislikes photos of recipes, she feels they are too prescriptive - "it must look like this!" which it never will, even if yours tastes better. I see her point.

I think it's a given that my food will never look like it does in books :) Presentation is not one of my strong points. Sometimes it is useful to have a visual guide, if it's something very new to you, but at the end of the day, I like looking at pictures of food. (Food porn, my husband calls it.) But this just isn't that sort of book, which is fine.

I should have brought my camera - I want to go back to Liverpool st/Spitalfields with it - but tired and it will be a bit stressful to do it in my lunch hour, and the sun will come out again at some point... Temps set to not dip below 12 for the next couple of weeks. Should't get too complacent though. We had snow at the end of Feb last year :)

good morning, all.
overcast but no forecast of rain - a bit of sun later. we haven't had frost since the hour or two of snow last month.
i finally got round to planting some spring cabbage, purple sprouting broccoli and chard plants that should have gone in at the back end of last year - they've been in pots outside but i have no doubt that they'll do better now.
while i was putting the washing out i noticed that the blossom is out on the nectarine growing in the hedge and we also have primroses out (we've had daffodils and snowdrops for weeks, of course).
the seeds arrived safe and sound yesterday, suffolk, and your foxgloves are thriving in their pots. they should flower next year if they like your garden.
i have a bit of potting up and seed sowing to do. time to start off chillies and tomatoes.
i was offered a coffee about an hour ago...
have a good day, everyone.
