I'VE JOINED SLIMMING WORLD!

Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

3lb off this week but not really cause for celebration. I have been going up and down within that 3lb for a few weeks now - I know all the reasons why and am pleased to have stuck within that parameter. Now it's time to move my a**e and get down some more. There should be nothing in the way this week, no visitors, no tea and cake out, just lots of glorious fruit and veg as far as my eye can see ....

We had a tasting day at SW yesterday, someone made a very nice bean and pepper dip (for crudites). I am going to try something similar but using Pepperdillos. I think it should be rather good. Several people made those 'pasties' using wraps for pastry which have featured a lot on Facebook recently, they seemed very popular with people who have young families to feed (fill a small wrap with suitable filling of choice, fold over and crimp, brush copiously with egg, bake until golden). They look fabulous but taste like shoe leather. The wrap is so tough it is hard to cut or bite and so stays in the mouth to be chewed after the filling has gone. I shall not be making any.

BIG news this week!
Mum lost a lb while I maintained (dunno what will happen after the b-day celebrations for younger Sis tho), but that's not the big news.

This is:
Last week we had nominations for our group's Woman of the Year.
We are BOTH on the shortlist! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
That has NEVER happened to me! :o
Gosh!

We've been asked to take 'before' and 'after' photos to group on Weds. I don't know about an 'after' photo (the only one I've got is a group shot), but I have a 'before' one which is MOST unflattering! :terrified: I not only look huge, but I also look like I've only got one brain cell!
It's in a frame on the stairs.

Great news Grassy! We had ours this week and the 'before' photos were really inspirational for those who had not been going for so long. We had about 6 contenders, all with their own story which made it hard to choose. The final votes were cast by all the members in the room. There is one lady who comes every week who has been a target member for some time - originally she wanted to lose a stone, that was all she needed to lose and she lost it quite quickly but it meant a lot to her. I was a bit surprised that she was our final winner because although she is nice and I admire her for sticking to target etc we had others who have lost up to 7 stone and been through all kinds of things on the way. You can never tell!

Good luck, you have a good chance!

She wasn't by any chance surrounded by friends was she ? Cynical; Moi ? ;)

I left the group once I realised that I was never going to lose that final stone even though I easily lost the first 3.5. I suppose staying at target weight must mean a concerted effort to stick to plan ?

I recall in my SW group when I was attending that groups of friends all sat together ... after the Tuesday morning weigh in they would scuttle across the road to the local garden centre for a full English

Erm ......... we didn't win ..... AND we've both gained!
Mum 4 lbs
Moi 1.5 lbs
BUT we have been celebrating Younger Sis's B-day ;)
We'll be taking a couple of weeks off from SW so we'll have plenty of time to get the weight off. Days out coming up & stuff.

I hope that the winner was very deserving Grassy! It was pretty good to be a runner-up though and nice to have flowers.

Enjoy your 'week off' with a few treats:).

I had to get weighed early this week and that stupid 2lb was back on   - it comes off one week and goes back the next for no apparent reason. I'm on meagre rations this week and weighing myself every morning as a reminder. I will get off the 2 stone plateau I always seem to hit!

I am having that problem too :( mind you, not helped by me trying my first attempt at a chicken and mushroom risotto in my Instant Pot .. (only took 10 minutes) and needed to make a tea loaf as the fruit that I soaked in tea last Saturday needed to be used up .. I don't suppose either of these are SW friendly ;)

Latest update:
Last week - Mum - up half a lb, moi - up 1.5 lbs!
This week - Mum down 2.5 lbs, moi - down just a lb- I even had to PAY! :x

Had a SW curry from Iceland for my tea tonite. I find them somewhat under-seasoned, so halfway through cooking it I added a little salt. Taste was much improved :tu: :chops:

Well done Grassy's mum! Not sure why you had to pay Grassy, I have not yet worked out what you have to do to go free as a target member (it's a long way off for me as I haven't even hit my first interim target yet!).
I'm still losing very slowly with a few blips in between (like food festivals, fish and chips at the seaside and pizza on special offer in M&S  ). I am hoping to get my next half stone award very soon.
I was going to buy some SW meals today but remembered just in time that my freezer is full. I have only ever tried one and it was really nasty (the chicken tasted off and I wouldn't finish it) but most people seem to quite like them so will have another try sometime, they would keep me on the straight and narrow for a week or so which would be helpful as I only have 7lbs to go to my interim target.

Well done EM, and Grassy, that will soon come off. I have had an up and down month too, various commitments on fast days have made fasting difficult, however planning to be back on the straight and narrow this week, hopefully until C******** Pleased to report that I am still alcohol free though, that's 8 months to the day today, never thought I could do it :o

EM - if you are at target, you don't have to pay as long as you stay within 3lbs of your target, either above or below. This effectively gives you 6lbs to play with. If you go too far above or below your target, you are given one week to get back into your target zone. Should you fail, you have to go back to paying until you are back in your target zone.

HTH ;)

I'm just back from my first visit for 3 weeks, put on 1.5lbs which, considering everything, wasn't too bad and as I can go to my group next week I have incentive to do well during the coming week. Are you having a Christmas taster session next week? If so, what are you taking?

There's been a bit of heated chat about SW on another thread. Let's just say that you are supposed to be able to eat what you like when you like if you stick to the rules. Some do say that cutting down on Syns is a good idea as you progress and I tend to agree .. a lot of regimes do suggest cutting down further when you reach a plateau.

Anyway, a certain person has mentioned losing a stone before Christmas so how about a little (friendly) challenge between SW Wildies and anyone else who wants to join in?
I saw this recently and rather liked it .. get the crayons out!!

I'm up for that definitely, although I don't really getonwithSlimmingWorld. I found I got quite obsessive about counting Syns and I don't like how they sell certain foods as free , which are very processed. I'd much rather have some fruit with Greek yoghurt than muller lights .

The best way for me is to up my fruit and veg, lots of protein and slightly reduce my carbs. It's all the little extras like a cheeky glass of wine or crisps to snack on inaneveningthat are my downfall

Ah yes BUT, as mentioned on the Bateaux thread, it was a set meal paid for by my children, booze included. Actually it wasn’t that far off the SWmark but even so it would have been churlish to refuse anything.

Grassy, does your consultant push Super Speed weeks? Many of my last group swore by them when they really wanted a loss.

What a hero doing the tea/coffee. Well done. 8-) 8-)

We eat tons of fruit & veg anyway.
Our stand-in consultant seemed quite surprised to have help with the clearing up the 2 weeks she was with us.

Are you joining us in the Christmas Challenge Grassy? I must say it has made me go back to basics and count syns carefully - and given me a bit of incentive. I'm hoping for a decent loss next Friday (if I can keep this up for 3 more days!). I have also remembered all kinds of things I ate and enjoyed when I started all this that I'd forgotten about. Loving Baxters soups (the HE listed ones) at lunchtime with a smattering of cheese on top :chops: .

Write this very sentence out and stick it on your fridge and cupboard to remind yourself what is important to you. Hopefully it will at least stop and make you think about making the right choice, or if you really need to eat something at the time. If you still make the choice you were going to then fair enough but sometimes if we just stop and think, it stops us. Also try having a glass of water every time you go to snack. It takes the edge off hunger

Good luck Grassy! I know you are on target so maybe don't want to lose a stone - I do think for most who aren't on target that a bit of a blitz sometimes is a good thing or you get stuck in a rut. I agree that generally the slow route is actually quite good (especially for helping the skin and wardrobe adjust!). Hoping I'll be colouring in some of my tree on Friday!

1.5lb for me this week. Followed everything religiously but didn't get much exercise which is the thing that really helps I think. A bit disappointed but still, at last I am below any weight I have been in my little book before so it's onwards and downwards - and I have coloured in 1.5 stars 8-) .

Well done EM. I haven’t swum this week as I have an open wound. I miss the exercise very much.

We've BOTH maintained this week - so I'm STILL 1.5 lbs outside my target zone! :x
