Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

Indeedy!

Mum didn't go this week, as she was quite poorly with a cold and sinus trouble.
I was UP a lb - I am not happy!

Awww, never mind Grassy ... I expect there will be extra off next week! I went 2 days early as I was away and was quite pleased to have remained the same as the week before as I had had nice meals out, birthday cake etc during the week. As the group leader said, if I had gone on my usual day I might have been down some (I didn't tell her I was off to enjoy some more birthday treats ... I must starve myself for the next few days :) )

NO NEVER DO THAT....sorry no please don't do that. It will screw up your metabolism and your weight loss will be all over the place. Apart from that, no diet is worth the misery of starving yourself.

Well done Grassy and Mum! That's great news.

Despite the afternoon tea and other treats I managed to lose 2lb this week (much to my amazement) and at last got my half stone certificate. It is certainly a bit of incentive. Now that the birthday celebrations are well and truly over I hope to do better from now on, the group I went to this week is run by someone else and I liked it better, I will go between the two depending on my shift pattern.

Tonight I tried one of the SW ready meals from Iceland. They are expensive but I bought one just to have in the freezer to try sometime when I was in a hurry. It was Sweet and Sour Chicken and so revolting I actually threw it away (and I rarely waste food!), the chicken was a large piece rather than cubes and tasted as if it had gone off. I won't be buying any more of those for sure!

We find the meals to be somewhat under-seasoned. Sausages & burgers are the same.
Try the Heck sausages - quite tasty!

Well done! No gain is what matters!

Yes, someone recommended Heck sausages to the group and they are lovely. They showed them making them on TV the other day, I think it was a news programme about small businesses or something.

I was trying for 3lb off last week as it would have taken me down into the next stone - but I only managed 2. I don't think this week will be very good as I haven't had a chance to go shopping until today and have eaten up some things I had in the cupboard which are not very SW friendly. I am still quite surprised that their system works but it does seem to. I was a bit disheartened in the group meeting at the discussion with 2 women who have stayed at their target weight for 5 years saying that on holiday they would be really careful and not eat this and that (even though they wanted to) - which IMO were all the treats you might have on holiday, even if in small amounts. I think you have to have a treat sometimes, especially if you have kept on target for that long!

Couldn't agree more PP! They were talking of removing all the batter from fried fish even though they liked it, forgoing the chips and only eating one half of a scone with jam and clotted cream. I can understand (just) doing so if I was trying hard to lose weight - but not when I had been on target for 5 years, that's just sad. I wonder what they do at Christmas etc. It must be pretty miserable, I think if they gain weight they have to pay for SW though  .

It does seem a shame not to be able to enjoy yourself more freely food wise on holiday, but I guess for some people this can be a real trigger to lapse back in to old habits and undo all the good work. If someone knows this could happen then they would not put temptation in their way and will know what food to stick with to keep them on track. For others a holiday is a treat but they can keep it at that and get back on track once home.

I mean those who are on Slimming World.

ETA. The fact that you are on holiday means that you may not have access to cooking facilities which enable you to tweak ordinary recipes to the SW requirements. Chips for example, overnight oats is another. But if I'm on holiday I want real chips for a change, and maybe the odd fry-up for breakfast.

However I treat a holiday as a holiday from SW and budget my food intake accordingly. I know I will put on half a stone if I'm off plan for 10 days (and that doesn't mean I will be wantonly stuffing myself, it's just the way I am) so I try harder before and after a break.

This week's result:
Mum - up half a lb
Moi - up a whole lb!!!

BUT - I have an excuse.

Last week we had a choc-free cake & bake sale at 'W' in aid of the BHF. There were so many goodies donated that it took three days to sell them all.
We raised £130.

Excellent excuse Grassy ;) ! Well done for raising so much. I tried really hard this week as I had put on 0.5lb the previous week. Managed to get 2lb off - I'd hoped for 3 but wasn't too disappointed. I am trying for my first stone award next week. If I go on eating the kind of thing I've eaten today there'll be no chance (but my Mothering Sunday cupcake was nice, as was the roast dinner with Yorkshire puds so light they couldn't possibly aid weight gain :).

Quite a good morning! 2lb off and finally, at long last, got my first stone award! It took long enough (9 weeks), but that's the way you're supposed to lose weight so I am more than happy as it hasn't really been much of an effort. In addition to that, I was third in line for the most weight lost this week and the other two went home before the meeting started so I got the bag of goodies! It really is the little things that give one a big boost at SW I think!

Our SW group has fallen victim to anarchy! I haven't been since pre-op but the FB support group makes hysterical reading.

The old leader (of 6 months or so) got a job as cabin crew for BA. The substitutes who've been in have attracted great ridicule. Tonight's came with her daughter who did the weighing and made sure everyone could see the scales. :o :o :o

I'm not going back yet although still losing . . . :tu:

Mmmm, chocolate crispies! Not as nice as that, but we had one of those sessions where people bring food in to try last week. I don't know what they are called but one person brought in some oat things which are from a SW recipe. It involves a daily quota of oats, half a tub of flavoured Mullerlight and an egg, mixed and baked. I thought it sounded revolting but actually was surprisingly nice. Most of those kind of concoctions I'm not really enamoured with.

PP   .. how entertaining! Glad you are still losing - though if your food is still tasting nasty that's a shame.

Well done grassy and mum! I put on 1lb, I blame a lovely huge beef and salad baguette I ate during the week :). Aiming for 3lb this week as I'm not going until Friday - the hot cross bun has been eaten - and a sticky bun and slice of cake to celebrate someone's birthday at work so now it's lettuce for the rest of the week

My free sessions run out this week. The leader I had last week pointed out that when you pay to go, each time you choose to eat something which takes you over the limit it will mean an extra week or so of classes before you reach target - so in effect. a sticky bun for instance, works out to be quite expensive!

Never mind grassy - you know next week your body will have done something completely different to what you expected

I had a huge surprise at SW this morning. After a 1lb gain last week I decided I needed to tweak the rut I had got into.I dread that stepping on the scales moment. Despite the large Costco iced bun and piece of sponge at work over the Easter weekend I had lost 4lb :woohoo: ! To be fair, it was 9 days between weigh-ins but even so I am dancing on cloud 9. It has given me huge incentive. 3lbs to my next half stone award and 4lbs to my 10% loss award, so those are things to work for this week. It is interesting how the weight fluctuates, I think that to continue having a varied diet, not getting stuck in a rut and to (sadly) avoid one's biggest trigger foods is key.
