I'm going to be a grandma!

Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

Mary I used to have a tiny Indian lady gynaecologist, there was something very reassuring about a brisk, no-nonsense, person in a glamorous sari and a disposable green plastic apron discussing the merits of deposable speculums, I always felt that she had everything sorted.

Well he eventually arrived at 3:00 a.m. on 15/05/15. Unfortunately her partner had to go into hospital for an eye operation so wasn't able to be with her BUT his loss was my gain and I was privileged to be present for his arrival. She had a water birth which was so calm and stress-free that he just swam into the world! No screaming from mum or baby just beautiful. I even got to cut the cord. I don't know whether it is because they were both so calm but he is such a contented baby. I know I am biased but I think he is beautiful. We have spent a fantastic week with them all - the eye operation was wholly successful - it is an issue as he has already lost the sight in one eye to cancer - so all in all I am a very happy grandma or as I have now been christened Glam-ma!Image

Many thanks to you all - I do feel truly blessed. His name is Archie after my late father-in-law - my daughter was very close to her granddad. I'm hoping this little one has the same kind of relationship with us!
