What are you eating today? (v4)

Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

I made a very wintery hot pot (?) type thing last night. Waxy potatoes, posh carrots, mushrooms, veggie sausages, onion, garlic and stock thickened with a roux. Also lots of fresh herbs from the garden - rosemary, sage and thyme. And butter beans, which were a mistake as not very good ones. I had left overs this evening, with cheese! Poutine has a lot to answer for. I would never have put cheese with a gravy type thing in the past. I meant to make dumplings but have run out of suet and forgot to buy some.

No breakfast, I had a dentist appointment first thing and arrived in the office to a huge queue of students

Dinner was an aubergine wrap from Pret, was tasty but not very substantial. Tea was a selection from Bundobust shared between the two of us: Bhel puri, onion bhaji, chickpea curry, okra fries and vada pav. Was delicious

We are having great fun going half board. Three nights of surprises and no choice!! :)

Tonight the courses were...

Terrine of smoked trout
Boudin Noir with grilled apple and pureed potatoes
Cheese board - a choice of local and other French cheese
Chocolate fondant and vanilla ice cream

Everyone else was on á la carte and eating stuff we would get at home - Pavé of salmon, lamb chops, steak, etc...

Friday, we had chicken kebabs for tea on really good naan.

Saturday was toast for breakfast.
Lunch at a cafe was roast veg and halloumi with a jacket potato.
I ticked off a life goal in the evening by going to an Asian wedding. My friend from work invited us to the bride's event and it was just soooo amazing!
We had papdi chaat and lychee drinks on arrival.
Starters were spicy salad, fish pakoras, aloo tikki and the most beautiful roast chicken.
Mains were lamb karahi, chicken karahi, saag aloo, lamb biryani and naan.
Desserts were carrot halwa and pistachio kheer.
Then there was freshly made jalebi, pink tea and wedding cake.
What an amazing night!

Sunday I had a great lie in!
I definitely had some lunch but I can't remember what.
Went out for tea and shared a roast pork dinner with Leo. He also had the curry and rice i brought along for him

Monday, lunch was a hot roast beef and onion sandwich with peppercorn sauce :tu:
I had bought some RTC capitalised butternut squash for 10p. I decided to try a kinda mac n cheese but swapping the mac for squash and adding salami and mushrooms. So actually nothing like mac n cheese. I wasnt impressed anyway.

Today, chips for lunch.
Tomato, mozzarella and pesto tarts using puff pastry for tea.

Lamb, spinach and potato curry last night, seasoned liberally with plaster dust, debris and broken builders promises.

Tonight we'll be having some delightful concoction of supermarket tortelloni with a sauce made with whatever is edible in the fridge. Plus wine.

Totally forgot to have breakfast this morning! That is most unlike me.

Early lunch of a cheese, tomato and basil toastie.

I've defrosted chicken thighs for dinner and I was thinking of cooking chicken cacciatore but we don't have any bacon in. I might sub a pinch of smoked paprika instead. I'm waiting for the veg box to arrive before I decide on sides but I'm thinking mini sautéed rosemary potatoes and whatever green veg comes in the box.

I've also promised Lilia that we can make some Cornish fairings later on if there's time so that will provide a mid-afternoon sugar boost with a cup of tea.

Testerday we had ham, tomato and cheese rolls for lunch with garpes afterwards, Supper was boudin noir (balck pudding) with crispy onion mash and flagelot beans. Tarte fines with apple afterwards.

I made a large pot of leek and tattie soup with fresh baguette for lunch and, of cours, more grapes afterwards.

Tonight I have a lamb neck casserole slow cooking in the oven and I'll put some spuds to bake later. I promised Mr R a rhubarb sponge afterwards but that depends on how smoothly the fidge delivery goes.

I am eating oddly and too much given that I have been very sedentary/supine - been off sick with a cold.
I had a late breakfast of toasted potato farls with butter
Lunch was some ratatouille (from a jar bought in France) with lemony feta baked with two eggs
for dinner I am going to have Schwäbische Käsespätzle - from a packet bought last time OH was in Germany. Hopefully I will be able to have the 'real' thing next month when I visit as he is near to if not in Schwabia. If they do a vegetarian option, that is.
I am tempted to return to project Zwiebelkuchen. Maybe this weekend and take some into work.

Egg on toast for breakfast.

No lunch yet - it might have to be some cheese and grapes or instant noodles unless OH gets back with something for me as I'm stuck in with plumbers and electricians.

We've got red kale, corn on the cob, mushrooms, pink fir potatoes and tomatoes in the fridge. Dinner will be based around some of that. Although I'm craving a Thai take away so we'll see

Hope everyone has a good weekend. for you Rocky if you see this. Hope you're ok

Yes, Rocky, you are very much in my thoughts and everyone's. I hope all is ok.

Wednesday was spent at home with a very sick boy. I mostly grazed throughout the day I think.
Tea was a kinda quick spag bol (definitely not spaghetti bolognese) but with rigatoni.
Thursday, meeting all day. I had spicy bean burger and fries.
Now, Dad was having Leo overnight and OH and I had decided to go out. But OH got kept on at work so only got home gone half 7. By half 8 when we got out, he didn't want to go anywhere 'proper' so we settled on dating like youngsters and sitting in a booth in KFC.
The idea was nice but I don't know if it was that or the bug that Leo had on Wednesday but we've both been up all night fighting over the bathroom. I don't think I've ever been so sick in one sitting before. We are still ill today and am currently led on the settee trying not to move and risk setting my stomach off again :sprout:
Dad is supposed to be bringing Leo back shortly :?

Breakfast was a small piece of leftover potato Rosti from last night topped with a fried egg. Lunch were leftovers again, prawn mayo in a crusty roll with salad. Tonight I made a bacon and mushroom risotto, then Tommi Miers chocolate and banana cake. Rather than a loaf, I made it in a springform cake tin, very nice, especially with the chopped nuts and mixed spice giving it a bit of a lift

Not what I had planned because the butcher had the first pieds et paquets of the autumn and they were asking to be eaten.
Lunch is a tomato tart tatin with goat's cheese.

Tomorrow we are going to our friends restaurant to sample his autumn menu.

Love cold curry for breakfast.

Breakfast was porridge with stewed plums and Greek yoghurt.
Lunch was fishcakes and salad.
Dinner will be a paella type thing.

In case that sounds too healthy I am currently enjoying a cup of tea and a couple of homemade almond shortbread biscuits.

Nowt wrong with leftover curry for breakfast. You could do worse. Anyhow, I'm a firm believer in thinking that there is no right or wrong thing to eat at set meal times. If you like it then you like it, it is right for you.

Brunch was Indian spiced eggy bread with a glass of juice. Got the train to Huddersfield to meet friends at the Magic Rock brew tap, where I had some lovely beer and a tasty veg curry. Just got home, think we'll have some Pollen sourdough with a bit of cheese as I'm starving. Really fancy a cup of tea too :mug:

Well even with lack of Internet, haven't been eating much of interest...

Have been cooking for 15 every night after a full day's work and largely from tins / dry goods etc. canned cherry tomato and canned salmon pasta was a particular highlight  . The shops have started to get in fresh produce which is very exciting but queues to get in are loooong. Managed a Thai green veggie curry the other evening so it feels like we have turned a corner. Have also been eating army ration packs very kindly donated and they are much better than I would have expected. Have found some pork so some sort of big pork stew is on the cards.

Yeah, I add a spice blend I picked up at my local Indian supermarket and add chopped spring onions and coriander to he egg mix. I find I have to spoon the onions onto the top of the bread once it is in the pan, but it is really tasty.

Thanks Rats, I let the env. health know via webform but i feel a bit bad now as I'm almost certain it was a bug now as dad and mum have both been poorly too :?

Saturday, I had a bit of cereal and some pasta during the day.
Tea was veggie burgers and wedges.

Sunday morning I went for breakfast with mum at booths and had a bacon butty.
Tea was ham, mushroom and vegetable egg fried rice.

Yesterday, I had a banana butty for breakfast and a cereal bar.
Lunch was homemade soup and a vegetabke panini.
Tea was a vegetarian paella topped with a soft boiled egg.

Today, cereal bar and banana
Lunch was leftover paella, cashews, strawberries and a tangerine.
Tea has been... pizza! Dominos variety

Good to hear from you Rocky, I can't even imagine what you must all be going through. Please let us know if there's anything I/we can do to help or to send to you.

Hope you and your family are on the mend Emma!

We had a tapas lunch out on Saturday and were still full in the evening and so picked at some bits of cheese and fruit

On Sunday we had a bit of a party at our house and I'm not remotely embarrassed to admit that I did a bulk order from M&S party food and wine service and that did the job nicely :D Luckily the weather was beautiful with all the kids playing outside (thank goodness ) so we set them up with a trestle table of sandwiches, fruit platters, crudites, dips, olives, salad, fruit tartlets etc and they were happy.

Inside we also had loads of canapés, different types of salads and spicier chicken lollipop things, sushi etc which some of the children also tasted. The only things we made ourselves were spiced minced lamb filled and wrapped vine leaves, rice stuffed peppers and a large tray of dauphinoise potato.

We've been living on bits of leftovers for the last couple of days but tonight we're making a chicken, chorizo and prawn paella on the paella stand outside if it's dry, on the hob if not.

Yesterday we had poached egg on Marmite toast from breakfast
For lunch, cottage cheese cheese , fresh pinapple and Serrano ham salad.
I turned some of the cold lamb into rogan Josht with naans, cucumber raita and chutneys and I made a breton Far for dessert as I had loads of eggs and some milk that needed using. I soaked th prunes in some armagnac, but don't tell anyone

We had our usual coffee and croissants after shopping and lunch was accras with some hot pepper dip. We pigged out on grapes afterwards.
I've got aubergines sliced and ready to cook in the oven so I can use the rest of the lamb into a sort of moussaka, tonight.

The 'diet' is not going well. Banana as usual for breakfast. I was weirdlt starving at lunch time, so I had a pot of Eat mac n cheese, as they call it. And a lemon yoghurt and a biscuit.

And dinner was two little truffled dauphinoise cakes that came with my Ocado shop... with peas. And I am still hungry. Wondering if I can risk not eating anything else (if I want to sleep.)

Ooh it's ages since I had poached egg on marmite toast, Rats. YUM!!!

Breakfast: Fresh orange segments then a slice of bacon and a couple of spoonfuls of beans on toast ( I couldn't eat it all last night)

Lunch: Ham with a sliced tomato on a sandwich thin. We did well with the tomatoes this year only 4 green ones that didn't turn and massive supply for friends and family and only 4-5 left to eat. :D

Dinner:chicken and mushroom pasta followed by bananas in custard :chops: I have also left some beef out to defrost to make a stew for tomorrow.

Lunch will be a sandwich filled with cheddar, prosciutto, thinly sliced red peppers and spring onions and chipotle mayo.

Dinner will be sausages, mash and loads of veg - probably cavolo nero, carrots, broccoli and green beans as we've got lots that needs using up. I'm going to make a sausage and veg frittata for tomorrow's lunches at the same time to use up a load of peppers and mushrooms as well.

Yesterday breakfast was porridge and dinner was a sandwich eaten on the bus on my way to a hospital appointment. Tea was lovely, kimchi fried rice with tofu in a bar in Manchester. We'd gone for a Magic Rock brewery tap take over and they'd made donuts with beer infused custard, so we tried both varieties :chops:

Not sure about today. No breakfast as yet, I've only just made it to work due to signalling problems  Lunch will be a sandwich and a salad pot, no idea about tea, we're going for more drinks so it will be something quick and easy to cook when we stagger home

WE had wild mushroom omelettes and saute potatoes ffor supper last night followed by the pear soup I mentioned on the autumn fruit thread. I served it with cubes of poached quince and a scoop of caramel icecream.

We both had a slice of Far for breakfast.
Lunch our butcher's lovely pate with mushrooms and some fresh crusty bread
Supper is to be cod with a topping of aioli then grilled and served on cauliflower puree and buttered spinach. I've got two rum babas for afterwards
