What are you eating today? (v4)

Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

Tuesday was a ham, mushroom, tomato and egg wrap for late breakfast. At a meeting all afternoon so a couple of biscuits.
Tea was chicken katsu curry, rice and chilli dressed shredded mange tout, sprouts and spring onions. I saw a katsu curry kit in Aldi rtc to 50p. It wasn't bad actually. The panko alone were probably worth the 50p!

Yesterday, tangerine for breakfast.
Lunch was an awful tomato pasta pot from Tesco with crisps.
Tea was chicken and chorizo paella.

Today, am working from home for a couple of hours so will have a leisurely breakfast of omelette wrap I think. Although Leo's porridge, crumpet & pear combo is looking pretty nice too!
Not sure about lunch or tea yet. Dad's having the boy tonight so we may go out for tea.

Fruit and yoghurt for breakfast.

I'm working from home today and it is very wet and windy out there so I fancy something hot for lunch. We've got some smoked haddock so I might make a fishcake and have it with some wilted spinach and a poached egg.

Dinner will be a portion of beef bourguinon from the freezer topped with shop bought puff pastry and turned into a pie. With a small quantity of mash and some green beans on the side.

Bits and pieces grabbed throughout the day between racing around...cheese, toast, a few quality street.

We've got people staying this weekend but are heading to our local for dinner tonight.

Need to decide on dinner for 10 tomorrow though which doesn't require too much faff.

Possibly best served in the summer but I don' think it would stop my family, how abut a great big sharing mezze platter? - warmed ciabatta with olive oil to drizzle over, charcuterie in various forms, gorgonzola, roasted pepper, olives, artichokes in oil, melon, sunblush tomatoes

Missed Thursday
Had toast for breakfast
Made a frittata for lunch with spuds, some courgettes, and caramelised onions and a touch of garlic and a little cheddar. Had a pear too.
Out in the evening slices of several pizzas, salad. We were at a pub that has recently been rather nicely refurbished and now specialises in pizza. Rather good
Yesterday granola with berries and yogurt, more frittata, an apple, nibbled nuts and olives, made a Sabrina Ghayour lamb roll recipe served with salata mechouia (grilled pepper and tomato salad, bit of cheese
The lamb roll was a modified success, it tasted good but if I do it again I'll use the kind of shortcrust used for pasties, as the lamb took a long time to cook (I used a thermometer), the puff kind of fell apart
Today so far coffee, we spent a long time chatting and drinking wine last night
Today will be mostly leftovers.

Tea out on Thursday was a disaster as we drive for ages deciding where to go, got there to realise I'd forgotten my bag and OH only had 25 quid and no card on him... why would you leave the house with no card?!?! So we got chicken kebabs on the way home.

Friday a colleague asked me to lunch, took me to my least favourite place (nandos) and then told me she was leaving! Great lunch! I had a very average pitta with chicken, halloumi and some very jam-like "onion chutney".
My sister had a body shop party in the evening so she made lots of snacks... tomato, basil and bocconcini skewers, veggie wrap bites, onion bhaji, fruit skewers, bread, etc.

Today I took the plunge and joined slimming world. I had some melon whilst there.
Boiled egg and beans on toast mid morning.
Chicken, lots of veg and lots of tomatoey pasta which I managed to make 'free' and it was nice :tu:
It's so cold tonight, I need a shower to warm up (OH hates that I do that  ) and a cuppa.

Spinning first thing and then a fruit skewer en route home which my sister brought for me.
I'd put shakshouka (the sauce) on before I left so got back and had that (plus the egg) with some cubed cooked potatoes.
Banana butty around lunch time.
Alpen light bar before a long drive to Blackpool to try and calm a little un with his back teeth coming through...
Tea has been spiced cod loin, dahl and roasted sprouts & leeks. Not at all bad.

That would have been much easier! It turned out that their children we're a bit fussier so I cooked separately for children and adults...sausage, mash and peas for children, and rack of lamb with onion puree, green beans and rosemary potatoes for us.

Different friends popped round yesterday afternoon and stayed for dinner. We kept it simple with a giant metre long baguette stuffed with onions, mushrooms, cheese and strips of rare fillet steak and let people add their mustard of choice at the table.

I've just had a very lazy breakfast with DD of fruit, yoghurt, eggs, salmon, toast...as swimming is cancelled this morning and we're not in a rush for a change!!

Dinner will be chicken enchiladas with salad.

Lunch for friends yesterday.

Dim-sum with drinks (thank you M.Picard)
Carbonade of beef with braised red cabbage and jacket potatoes
Cheeses, Mont d'Or, Langioule and Basque brebis
Ginger roll for pud. A blast from the 60's. Gingernuts biscuits, dipped in Crabbies green ginger then stuck together and covered with whipped cream. Chopped preserved ginger on top. Not a crumb left!

We treated ourselves to Ryvita and Primula cheese spread while watching Blue Planet.

Today: porridge and maple syrup - for himself
Bacon roll for lunch
Supper Pot roast with left over red cabbage, roast parsnips and roast baby spuds
Faisselle and raspberries after

Yesterday, breakfast was raspberry waffles with maple syrup :chops: No dinner, too full from breakfast but we had a few lemon & chilli lentil chips mid-afternoon after sorting out a load of stuff in the living room. Tea was kimchi fried rice with Korean BBQ tofu.

Today, no breakfast. Dinner was a boring sandwich with some edamame beans. Think tea is going to be leek risotto but it depends what time we get home tonight. Traffic was awful this morning and we have to call at the vet and the supermarket after work.

Saturday night I had chip shop chips for dinner!
Yesterday I had a veggie burger with chips (again! That's my usual year's worth.) and a large slab of iceberg aka salad for lunch :( We were in a real throwback to the '80s pub, and this was the only savoury vegetarian thing on offer, even taking into account the starters. A waste of calories imo. It was 'scourge of Sunday Roasts' day, but even so. Interesting place though.
Dinner was potato, rosemary and cheddar gratin with peas. (Followed by a mince pie and cream)
today I had a 'Christmassy' Pret salad - apparently it involved Roasted Butternut Squash, Sprout and Apple Slaw, Broccoli Spinach Wensleydale and Cranberry Crumble, caramelised Pecans, Pomegranate Seeds, French Dijon Dressing. I didn't notice the Sprout and Apple Slaw. It was quite nice. A smallish portion though.

Hello all

Lovely sounding food. Mine has been relatively simple. We are home which is fab and have a generator so can have a bit of electricity for an hour in the morning and a couple of hours at night. It isn't enough to run a fridge though so we are having to be creative with cool boxes and ice. And we haven't quite perfected it - a few evenings we have had to decide whether to chill food or white wine - that has been an easy one ;)

Have made omelettes, a few curries, a few pasta dishes. Over the past week or so there has been very little cooking as we have had a visitor - and I had to plan the visit!

https://www.facebook.com/TheBritishMona ... 7603189063

I don't know if the link will work, but the shot of him with the umbrella is our only high school - amazing photo.

So Saturday was leftover noodles for breakfast and a cereal bar late afternoon. When the visit was over we cracked open the prosecco and had that with crisps - very nutritious.

I managed a run first thing yesterday which was fab. Then had my usual miso soup for brekkie. We then had a team brunch and I had west indian chicken curry that was :chops:

Had an afternoon snooze after that and when OH nipped to the shop to buy ingredients to make dinner (this is where the lack of the fridge is a pain!), it had already closed so we had to go out again for dinner. We shared a chicken, pesto and feta pizza.

Had a boring salad for lunch and might go for a thai curry for dinner - if we get to the shops in time....

Sounds wonderful Rocky, well done you! I hope you managed to get one one of the photos with him yourself!
And definite progress... running and miso soup for brekkie :tu:

Mexican egg and cubed spud for breakfast.
Lunch was brown rice, dahl, green beans and spiced cod loin left over from last night. Plus a banana and a tangerine.
I had a ham and tomato sandwich when I got in from work but have since had tea too! Pork bulgogi, veg, rice and kimchi.
Not sure how eating this much is ok on slimming world but here's hoping.
Might even have a yoghurt and a brew still yet.

Thanks both. I have never said on here but I work for very closely with government here so since Irma have organised visits from Boris J, Priti Patel and now HRH and the new DfID sec - quite amazing experiences. Even more exciting is that we have come home tonight and there is a brand new electricity pylon at the bottom of the hill. Don't want to get excited but would they put it there is nothing was to happen. Depressingly though, we also got home to find someone had been to the house and had nicked the generator. So we have had to come out again to eat this evening and no power or water til we replace it....

I should say that our visitor was absolutely delightful. He brought a few small gifts for people who had worked hard and I was one of the lucky recipients - when I said thank you so much, he just commented that he wished he had been able to bring something useful like......'windows'. Really empathetic.

Huge apologies for posting this here . Nothing about food at all!

Don't apologise Rocky. All fascinating stuff. Though you might have done some people a favour if you had managed to get Boris somewhere like a shark infested lagoon !

Bad luck with the generator. I suppose some people are jus plain bad but some must be desperate.

Ooooh how exciting Rocky! The visitors and the pylon, not the generator thief

I had a banana butty for breakfast today.
Off site meeting all day so a tangerine at break (successfully avoiding pastries and biscuits on offer)
Sadly, a buffet lunch was provided which was sandwiches, chips and salad. Not very SW friendly.
Yoghurt layer on (avoiding the mini muffins!).
Feel a bit ropey, headachey and dizzy so couldn't face cooking. I had more pork bulgogi, rice and veg for tea.
Early night me thinks.

Poached egg on a slice of brown toast, lunch out - I had a baguette with brie, bacon and cranberry sos. Mr. Z had tuna mayo and we shared a portion of nice brown toasty chips.

Supper was a small portion of cajun meatloaf with crushed hazelnuts and a eggy custard topping with bay leaves and a medley of veg.

Great photos Rocky! Shame about your generator though

Relatively boring food here over the last few days...enchiladas, chilli, pizza. Tonight it's going to be a sausage, sage and squash lasagne I think.

Breakfast was yogurt and fruit and I had free coffee and cake at John Lewis this afternoon.

I'm feeding 5 toddlers here tomorrow afternoon with various levels of fussiness which i'm not used to! I'm considering a choice of homemade pizza or burger with lots of salad bits and pieces with crudites, bread sticks and humous available as well. Fruit salads and rice crispy cakes for dessert. It sounds so boring but hopefully they'll all eat something!

Yesterday, I had a breakfast tray type thing. I put some diced cooked potato, halved hcerry toms, halved mushrooms and strips of bacon in a foil takeaway tray and put it in the over while I was getting ready. Cracked an egg on top for the last 5 mins - lovely brekkie!
Lunch was jacket potato, beans and salad.
Tea was salmon with a pasta dish of taglietelle, pine nuts, cherry tomatoes, spinach and green beans.

Today, same breakfast.
Lunch was asian style salmon with brown rice and asian dressed brocolli/mange tout/leeks. Treat myself to a costa coffee too.
Tangerine in the afternoon.
Tea has been pork, peppers, smokey aubergine and paprika stew with rice/quinoa.
Just having a brew, alpen bar and a yoghurt.

Yesterday Breakfast was porridge and maple syrup for the porridge eater

Lunch was a wtaercree, cheese and marmite sandwich followed by a couple of clementines each.

Supper was chilli con carme on tortillas with cheese, sliced avocado shredded lettuce and chilli and tomato salsa with masses of fresh coriander and lime wedges. Rick Steins progemmes are inspiring me - and Mr R because he made us a margherita each before hand :cocktail: :cocktail:

Toasted muffins with marmalade this morning

Beetroot and grilled goat cheese salad for lunch

HM fish cakes with parsley sauce and steamed spinach for supper followed by cherry pancakes - and I hope another cocktail first!

Yesterday was a little odd as out nearly all day
Started with porridge
Falafel wrap and lemonade at Southbank, expensive, not many falafel, no dressing, left a lot of the wrap
Coffee and carrot cake in Cafe Rouge at
St Katherine's dock
Veg curry in Wetherspoons curry club, left most of the rice and naan bread, but somehow they'd got the poppadums perfect so I ate mist of them

So far today, porridge

Hello all (from Santo Domingo where OH has, as a treat booked a birthday weekend :bounce: - direct from BVI!)

Did have a Thai curry in the week. Also had some takeaway Chinese noodles. On Wednesday we had an evening reminiscing with the person we spent the storm (and subsequent weeks with) to try to piece things together. We had jerk chicken with rice n peas and veg. Yesterday we had a thanksgiving dinner with some American friends. Very nice but who has a roast without roast spuds?!

We had lunch at the hotel quite late. We shared chilled tomato soup that had crisped jamon of some sort in it and a boiled egg :chops: , also had a sort of roasted veg thing that I will struggle to describe but was great and a garlic octopus thing. I can't tell you how exciting it was to have such sophisticated food. AND I have just had a hot bath. Can't get over the excitement of it all. We probably won't leave the hotel this evening. Very tired and the restaurant was so good. The hotel is very old - an old governors mansion I think and is arranged around loads of European style courtyards. Beautiful.

Breakfast was porridge and dinner was an awful sandwich from the cafe in my building. Meant to buy something on my way into work but got distracted buying Xmas decorations for the office

Tea was lovely. It was my husband’s birthday yesterday so we’re celebrating today. We shared some fab Indian food at a restaurant (Mowgli) in Manchester. We definitely over ordered but we’ll visit again. We’ve also been for cocktails at a couple of ‘secret’ bars including one hidden behind a fake launderette. Had a great evening!

Mr. Z had pigeon and chorizo on puy lentils with the bread from my (large) baguette and half of my chips. Supper was megrim :chops: delicious, half a sm. baked tato and roast 'snips.
