What are you eating today? (v4)

Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

Toast and peanut butter for breakfast,

A surprise wild mushroom risotto for lunch, the surprise being that the girolles were a gift from a neighbour,

Trad quiche Lorraine with a watercress and orange salad for supper and I have a huge mango which it will roast with honey and chili flakes and maybe a splash of rum.

Tomorrow I am stirring up and friends are coming to "help"
We are having an Alasace-style lunch.
Foie-gras and pain d'epice with fig preserve.

Choucroute garni with 6 different meats and sausages

Munster cheese

Mirabelle tart with a glass of mirabelle eau de vie.

Yesterday, I was off work. I had boiled egg, beans and cubed spuds for breakfast.
Lunch was out at a really nice garden centre but it was PACKED and they could re-stock sandwiches as quick as people were eating them. I got a tuna roll, a salmon roll and OH & I shared.
Tea was chickpea and spinach curry with spiced potatoes and mamta's cabbage and pea bhaji but using sprouts.

This morning, I'm having a ham and tomato omelette with beans.
We're out for lunch to a lovely, tiny nursery cafe for my brother's birthday and I'm very much looking forward to it.

Happy birthday Rocky, hope you have a great time!!

Dinner on Friday eve was camembert baked in my new lovely le creuset baker (thanks black Friday!!) studded with garlic and fed with a splash of white wine. With crudites, salad and too much crusty bread.

Long walk in the snow yesterday with friends followed by a well needed pub lunch in the forest...lots of pies, mash, sausages, local real ale and mulled wine and cider ordered.

Breakfast will be crumpets. Heading to the monthly market for coffees and cakes later and dinner will be a roast with my mum and dad who are coming round. Possibly roast chicken.

Ate very well yesterday. Breakfast was a lovely buffet with lots of interesting bits. I had some tortilla, arepa, lots of fruit and a glass of Buck's Fizz - oh and some bacon and maybe a few other bits. For lunch we shared a sort of open sandwich of pesto and Serrano ham, and guacamole and salsa. Dinner was lovely. To start we shared chorizo and prawns in red wine and a really unusual deep fried apple slices with prawns. Then we shared beef tartare three ways and tuna carpaccio with a tonnato sauce.

Breakfast will be more lovely buffet. Lunch at the airport so who knows and I will think about dinner on the way home. Maybe a curry or something simple.

At the nursery cafe yesterday, I had ham sandwich and a mountain of salad and a small pot of crisps. They do wonderful chutney and coleslaw there which I didn't even touch in an attempt to stick to SW.
OH had a huge burger so wasn't hungry for tea. So I didn't bother either, just had a yoghurt, banana and half a curly wurly.

Today, potato waffle, bacon and grilled tomatoes for breakfast.
Lunch was jacket spud with tuna crunch and salad.
Tea was vegetable paella but with a paprika dusted chicken breast sliced on top.

Last night we had the last of the chilli from the freezer. With rice, salad and melted cheddar and jalapeno topped nachos.

Bacon and maple pancakes for breakfast. Hot chocolates mid morning out in a deli.

Dinner will be a use up risotto or soup...there is sage, butternut squash, chestnut mushrooms, greens and some cooked chicken which all need eating.

Breakfast was a veggie sausage sandwich and a coffee. No dinner, was still full from breakfast.

Had a slice of Colin the Caterpillar cake with a brew mid afternoon. My boss keeps going to the cake factory shop for office treats :o

Tea has been a very spicy tofu and veg stir fry with brown rice. Probably didn't need to add sriracha, the tofu would have been spicy enough without

Last night I had roasted sweet potato and halloumi drizzled with some smoked oil which had smoked paprika and fresh lime juice towards the end.

Lunch was left overs, bound together with a little tomato sauce and cooked in the oven.

I have been pressing tofu today and have just added it to a marinade which has all sorts in it, but there is a smoky, hot and sweet theme. I will have it tomorrow. Tonight I have having a bowl of smoky chilli with cheese.

Boring food day...
Breakfast of a veggie sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes and an egg.
Alpen bar and banana.
Lunch was leftover salmon, veg and noodles plus a tangerine.
Hectic evening (work late, pick up boy from mum, drop off boy with dad, watch in awe at how amazing boy is :luv: , rush home, meet decorator, listen to him waffle for an hour, sort house, put flowers in vase, get changed, warm tea and...... breathe!) So had leftover chicken & spinach curry with mushroom rice from the other night. And half a curly wurly left over from Saturday night.
Loitered in the kitchen for hours before mooching to bed with a cuppa and another alpen bar.

Can't really think what we have had this week. Monday was an omelette with cubed spuds and salad. Tuesday was a Thai red veggie curry. Wednesday we were out for drinks and as cooking is not the easiest at the moment we got some takeaway noodles. Last night we met friends for dinner at a restaurant and I had seared tuna to start and then pork tenderloin stuffed with Italian sausage :chops:

Tonight might be steaks if I can find any.

We're supposed to be having lasagne tonight with garlic bread and salad. I've defrosted a portion of ragu from the freezer so apart from making white/cheese sauce it'll be an easy assembly job.

But i've got that cough/cold/lurgy thing that is doing the rounds and what I REALLY fancy is some kind of pie with gravy <ponders> and a mug of mulled wine (for medicinal purposes)

Yesterday after a poridge breakfast we had chicken salad rolls and then clementines and grapes for lunch

For supper I made a kashmiri chicken, saag aloo, popadoms, c ucumber raita and chutneys followed by roast pineapple with rum and honey.

Today we were going out for lunch but the unexpected snow prevented this - restaurant being at the top of a very steep hill. So our friends came to us and I quickly made chicken broth with lentils and 5 or 6 vegetables. This was served with a sharing bread I had in the freezer
. Cheese and biscuits then a blueberry and apple oat crumble with lots of cinamon and real custard.

I don't know if we'll have any room for much later on but there are possibilities when I have the energy to think about them. Eggs being the obvious start.

Yesterday
Breakfast ... muesli
lunch ... leek and potato soup (homemade)
supper ... macaroni cheese and a couple of Serendipity Encore sausages ... a new brand being stocked by the farm shop ... made with Lacons' Encore Ale ... they had lots of fennel seed in and were very pleasant ... I wouldn't go out especially to get them but they were better than many 'flavoured' sausages I've come across.

Yesterday, I made a breakfast butty, SW style... Wholemeal toast, egg and mushrooms.
I wasn't organised enough to make lunch which was a mistake. I had a really authentic (I.e. deep fried) veggie samosa brought in by a colleague for prophet Muhammad's birthday. I also had some lentil soup and a little bit of a jacket potato with beans.
Dad had made my tea when I went to pick Leo up. A chicken curry type thing with rice cooker rice, tahdig and all...

Today, I'm having a SW style "grill up" but with crumpet.
Not sure about the rest of the day yet.

Ah, that explains the fireworks maybe, there was obviously some kind of jolly going on

Thursday yogurt for breakfast (I think)
Made celeriac and porcini soup and had some with a bit of cheese and a couple of crackers
Supper was the last of the cold beef small jacket spud, broad beans, tomato and onion salad before I dashed out to a local history talk
Yesterday toast
Soup and cheese and chutney on Ryvita
Prawn laksa for supper, it was going to be salmon but I stood there with a package in each hand and put the wrong one back in the freezer. Never mind, was very nice
So far today, toast. No idea what is to follow

We had ribeye steaks with bacon and leek risotto on Friday. Yesterday lunch we went out and I had ..... West Indian chicken curry. Last night I made a Thai red curry and then early to bed. It was a very scaled back BVI half marathon this morning but a great turnout. I had a piece of pitta with banana and honey at 5. Then a bit of fresh fruit after the race (which I won bizarrely - I know no one has had time to train but...) and then went to a lovely low key place that had live music and I had a breakfast burger with bacon and a fried egg :chops: :chops:

We are meant to be meeting friends for dinner. Not sure I want to go out for a second time today although I actually think we are doing well eating in given the circumstances.... Might have something light and fishy

Yesterday we had lunch out in a newish and new to us place in Herne Hill. I had delicata squash (butternut, is soooo passé ;) ) lasagne followed by peanut butter and chocolate mousse. OH had 'cuttlefish and ink' risotto followed by 'steamed Guinness sponge' which came with a caramel sauce. I think they would have actually done themselves a flavour by going into more detail in their descriptions of the dishes, in this instance. It was all much nicer than I expected. Very nice indeed, in fact. We will be going back.
Dinner was 2 Quorn sausage pattie things and spinach mornay. Not a terribly good combination. OH had a fish pie from Sainsbury's.

Today we went out again to another new to us, and fairly newish, very local to us, pub. I had a so so lunch tbh. Stuffed aubergine, the contents of which were too oily, and the aubergine shell was inedible. It came with rather mushy cauliflower cheese, almost-mushy roast potatoes, some oddly flavoured (orange juice?) roasted carrots and cabbage that came with part of the hard not-very-cookable bit you usually cut off. (The base of the stem, I guess.) It wasn't as bad as that sounds, but not great. I wasn't actually expecting the Sunday roast trimmings. Husband fared better, I think, with his mushroom ragout with polenta. I had a flourless chocolate cake with chantilly after, which I didn't really enjoy enough to justify the calories. Nothing wrong with it - just not my thing. They hadn't finished preparing the crumble I attempted to order.
A few slices of tomato and rosemary foccacia for 'dinner' after all that.

Well done on the race Rocky! Herbi, that first lunch out sounds lovely.

Yesterday we had sliced lamb steaks served with pitta bread, shredded carrots, gem lettuce and cucumber, herby yoghurt and some little mini roast potatoes with a hint of lemon oil. A slice of pandoro later on.

We're at a friend's for lunch today. She's asked people to bring bits and ours is a fruit salad so I need to sort that out.

Dinner tonight will involve pork belly or sea bass. If fish then I'll go down a spicy route but if pork then it'll be with sprouts, chestnuts, shallots, sage and apples etc

Re: What are you eating today? (v4)

Saturday ... Breakfast was probably muesli, lunch was a crab and baby gem salad and supper was a sirloin steak with a peppercorn sauce and broccoli.
Sunday breakfast was coffee and more coffee, lunch was leftover macaroni cheese from Friday and supper was rare roasted top rib of beef with roasted potatoes and parsnips, Yorkshire puds, sprouts and gravy :chops:

Yesterday, breakfast was mushroom pate on toast with a coffee. We went over to Magic Rock's brew tap in Huddersfield for a few beers and their 'winter food festival'. I ordered from a stall I've heard good things about and have wanted to try their food for a while. Unfortunately, it wasn't a great experience, the food was nice but a very, very long wait. Now they're arguing with me over a review I left on their Facebook page  Don't think I'll buy from them again, especially with their response to my complaint.

No idea about today, breakfast will be porridge, maybe soup for lunch? I am coming down with a bit of a cold and don't feel very inspired :(

Congratulations Rocky!

Saturday I had a lovely falafel wrap with no pickled turnip but extra chilli from the Lebanese guys in the market for lunch

Didn't fancy cooking in tge evening, had some goose rillettes, a bit of cheese, pickled walnuts, a pear and some nice Cypriot style bread in the evening
Breakfast yesterday was more of the bread with butter and honey
Last of the celeriac and porcini soup for lunch
Two dates and a dried fig as a snack
Made a sort of chicken chasseur style dish with some partridge breasts and ate half with mashed parsnip and Brussels sprouts

Ooooh well done Rocky, you're so good!

On Saturday, the breakfast was plenty so I didn't bother with lunch.
I made pasta at night with Turkey, salami, passata, peas, cream cheese, red onions and garlic. And had that with a load of broccoli and sprouts.

Sunday I had boiled egg, beans and cubed potatoes for breakfast.
An early tea/late lunch out with my grandma, mum, her OH, my uncle, my OH and the boy. Only at a cheapo beefeater (my grandma is very particular!) But it was lovely anyway because of the company. We took grandma after hospital visiting hours because my grandad is in again and she'd be on her own. I had flat iron steak, big fat chips, grilled mushroom and tomato.

Today has been a disaster. I had no breakfast for one reason and another and then got tempted by the pain au choc that someone bought me. Still... one bad meal doesn't ruin everything.
Pasta for lunch.
Tea is going to be veggie fried rice with fried egg.

All I've eaten for a week is baked potato, beans, cheese and yoghurts.
I've made a chilli today, which we'll have with cheese, sour cream, salsa, maybe rice.
I don't fancy it at all so with probably have a few mouthfuls then eat a yoghurt!

Fried egg on a slice of toast, battered courgettes for lunch and ckx., bacon, and m'room with yoghurt/cream and whole rice. Oh, and a small mixed plate of salad, a shared third of avocado and scrapulings of smoked salmon.

Yesterday's drama relating to my poor review of that business ended with the woman who owns it sending me a nasty message from her personal Facebook account. Needless to say I'll never buy from them again, even with her offer of a free meal  Very strange way to respond to a legitimate complaint anyway.

Today, breakfast was a veggie sausage sandwich from the cafe at work with a poor Americano. Was very late for work today, unfortunately there had been a fatal accident on the road ahead of us so traffic was awful. Still, a bit of inconvenience is nothing compared to what the man's family will be going through now

Dinner was fab mezze as usual from the Otto Men at the work food market. I got a few extra bits added to my meal, was really, really tasty.

No idea about tea. I'm at book club tonight at the annoying time of 7pm. I don't normally get home until 6.30 and I don't really have time to then go back out to book club. Don't really fancy hanging round in town so will see, might end up dropping my book off and heading straight home!
