Went to Bellanger a couple of weeks ago, one of the sister restaurants.
Very enjoyable too and located in Angel.

I think the tarte flambée at Bellanger has to be one of the great bargains in London, I can't eat a whole one, it's lunch with nice biere d'Alsace :D

I love their menu. French onion soup for me followed by cassoulet and maybe sorbet and espresso.

Looks like very good value, but I'm not sure I could actually eat all that in a day! You would have to roll me down the platform at kings cross.

Do they charge extra for the milk of magnesia served on the side of your coffee!

Actually - it sounds like a bit of a challenge........

On the other hand it would make a great present for a Special Birthday or Anniversary

You'd need two though wouldn't you? Need someone to egg you on / hold you up!

I have a feeling that Zedels don't/won't do doggy bags, you would have to take your own.

I think it looks a fabulous day out. One would need to be ladylike and not eat everything in sight, then it would be very pleasant. A large handbag with some plastic bags and boxes wouldn't go amiss either :). Would one need several changes of outfit? That might be a bit of a pain.

I spotted this earlier, reservations open today.

BOOK AHEAD: Bastille Day at Brasserie Zedel

If, like us, you've a penchant for Breton wearing and decadent French food, head over to London's iconic Brasserie Zedel on 14th July to celebrate Bastille Day in style. Those wearing a Breton and a beret on the day will receive a free three course meal, coffee and a glass of vine. We'll be pairing ours with a statement red lip and an air of nonchalance – naturally.

20 Sherwood St, Soho, London W1F, reservations open from 1pm on Friday 16th June

According to the girl I spoke to they do not release the email at the same time every year. They do have a number of walk in reservations but at this distance would not risk it... next year perhaps ????

Well I don't see a report from Patsy but if I missed it then sorry !

Last night was SUPERB ! The meal, the service, the Music was Splendid ! I think we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening, Starters were all the same for us 3 a terrine of ham hock with the french version of picalilli loads (too much) of gorgeous french stick and butter Num Num Num !!! Mains was confit of duck on puy lentils for Mr. Z. and Patsy and I had the filet of sea bream on artichokes, a Zedel half glass of wine and then a full bottle of Pic Poule Mr. Z had half a carafe of red with his duck. Then we had a musical interlude with the LPO, 18 of the string section, excellent they were ! Patsy took the leaflet off the table so I will let her list the Music. During the interval we had our dessert, Patsy and Mr. Z. had Il Flottaines and I had the profiteroles and chocolate sauce :chops: :chops: :chops: Very delicious. Then more music - fantastic !

It was a late finish but well worth it. We stayed over at Patsys nearly forgetting my yoghurt I had bought in Southall at lunchtime. We were going to go to Brixton market but traffic was bad and we assessed that time was not on our side so we ended up in Camberley at the HUGE M&S where their 60% off sale was on......... Bargains galore, I have almost a new wardrobe coupled with the new trollies I bought in S'hall, for only a small amount of money..really....

I did go a bit ballistic in Quality Foods in S'hall :? :? :? I do need a few more cupboards to store it all in.
