Good morning everyone
Hail the Natster! (That's what we call Nathaniel)

Was out last night, met friend down from Edinburgh at the Hokusai exhibition at the British Museum then we came back here and nipped out to my new local for shared small plates :hungry: :hungry: We had some huge olives stuffed with and wrapped in a forcemeat, crumbed and deep fried to resemble little Scotch eggs, terrine on sourdough toast with home made chutney and cornichons, and a plate of lovely sweet potato fries with guacamole to fill us up. Very pleased to have that on my doorstep :D
Friend has gone out so I've put some laundry on and I am thinking of what to cook tonight. I think I had a hint that fish would be welcome... so need to go and see what there is

Sue - did you rate the exhibition?

Both DS and myself enjoyed the smaller exhibit at the William Morris gallery a couple of moths ago. We may come down again for the British museum.

Enjoyed the exhibition, quite a lot to see
I was a bit worried if I'd be able to see the detail as many of the prints are about A4 sized, but a lot of people were waiting to push their noses up against the glass.
It was quite hot and fairly busy, booking is essential unless you have a Members card, it sells out every day.
Looking forward to going to more exhibitions and lectures
We are going to see the Canaletto exhibition at the Queen's Gallert tomorrow, Italian lunch first

I'll be interested to hear what you have to say on the Canaletto Sue. Have had 2 reports from friends, one very positive and one very negative. :o I like the Queen's Gallery and especially like poking around all the tat in the gift shop afterwards.

Congratulations on the new baby :D

Good afternoon everyone,

I've had a very lazy morning after a fairly uncomfortable night with my toe aching. That said although it is swollen and bruised I'm fairly sure it's not broken as I can wiggle it :D . My younger son is making a curry banquet for tonight and I get to sit back and enjoy some :cocktail: :D . I'm now the delighted owner of a dehydrator - I've wanted one for ages so looking forward to using it :D

I hope everyone has a good day :)

It's far more than mini here Moira. This is the third day running it has hit 40C. All us oldies are supposed to stay indoors and drink litres of water and not exert ourselves - can't think what that might mean   Never mind the sun will soon be over the yard arm so we can swap the water for something more interesting. Not that we didn't at lunch time.

Morning everyone.

Well finally after months of issues with internet, TV, phone and electric connection it would appear relative calm has been restored. All the problems stem from the building of two properties directly opposite us and just off the main lane in the village. They have been building these houses since we moved in (3 years!) and when they moved to the latter stages of having all the amenities connected that's when all the trouble started. To make things worse it wasn't a big developer building them but a well know family in the village(who already live on our lane) so people felt for a very long time that they couldn't complain. Yesterday we received communication that all connections had now been finally restored, the necessary safeguards put in place to prevent it happening again and that we would be receiving compensation for all our hassles and the loss of said connections.

Off to celebrate by attending the village carnival and sorting out DD's massive stash of toys which is threatening to take over the living room!

Happy Sunday to you all

It's Scrumpy's birthday today, he is 8 and woke me up at 5.24am, he paws at my head and even when I pull the quilt over it, he fiddles under it with his paws.... Bless him. We have sung to him and he is getting a sachet of wet around 5pm. :D

Nuther mole hill..... I swear this house will disappear underground one of these days

I bought some coleus plants the other day so need to put them in pots today, raspberries need picking before the blackbirds nick them all.
Pub quiz tonight so need to look at this weeks news in a bit more detail, there are always questions on this.

Lunch will be a mezze of leftovers ! :chops: :chef: Brekkie will be scrambled eggs with courgettes - as recommended by Moira, I have a lot of courgettes !

Missmancs, your situation with the new build opposite sounds very Cypriot, a local firm taking three years then trouble with the amenities. Been there, done that
Uproar in Pissouri Bay, someone has bought a piece of land currently used as a car park mostly by visitors. The current feeling is that a car park is more important than two villas that will probably be holiday lets but the owner has planning permission.

Meanwhile I had a nasty experience about an hour ago, I was driving the car down to pick up the papers, nasty sounds from the gear box, it is an automatic. I turned round came home, no more nasty noises, Deb drove it around the block, it was OK. I hope that all is well as gear boxes are expensive.

Hope the car's ok Moira :)

Good to see you back Missmancs :D :tu: DS is having similar problems since new houses were built in his road ... he's been provided with some sort of boosting equipment, and as he plans to move shortly he's going to leave it at that.

We had planned to stay up and watch the Foo Fighters on the Pyramid Stage last night, but we were too sleepy  and went to bed to be serenaded by Tony Hadley and Bananarama who were performing in the park not far from here - not quite the Foo Fighters - glad we recorded them.

Morning everyone

The weather forecast says we will have cooler weather and rain today. Fingers crossed but don't believe a word of it. We were going out for lunch but it has been altered to this evening as it is just too darned hot during the day. I bet the storm hits just as I'm recording Poldark :scared:

That cake looks beautiful LTC. Glad you had such a wonderful birthday

We are all staying well out of the way of the village todayEvery year they have a vintage tractor rally which involves ancient lumps of metal parked in a field without any shade and then processing round the steep narrow streets belching diesel, or more likely vin ordinaire, fumes.

Have a lovely Sunday.

I bought a Ciabatta loaf at Lidls last week so it was Bruschetta for lunch, a mixed tomato/red pepper/cucumber combination, roasted red peppers from a jar together with sundried tomatoes on sundried tomato paste and a mixture of chopped preserved artichokes and parmesan flakes. All ingredients from the store cupboard or fridge (smug smiley). Cherries to follow, all with a bottle of not very distinguished white wine.

The big floor fan has been bought out of the shed for the summer. A couple of geckos had to be evicted :?

It's like april here ATM heavy showers and then sun then back to showers. All the garden geraniums have flopped everywhere and have been trying to tidy up. What is it with buttercups, garden thugs, they start off in the grass and before you know it they have strayed into my beds (garden ones) and root, move on, root, move on. They are so sneaky !

Good evening everyone,
The cake has been fairly demolished and was as tasty as it looked, I keep telling my friend that she should start a wee business doing them but she prefers it as a hobby. :D
Lovely LO curries for dinner tonight and I've got the duck carcass from the duck I cooked on Friday in the slow cooker for stock. As they say round here "back to old clothes and porridge" tomorrow ;)
