Sue's Memorial Walk (Alzheimer's Society)

Postby StokeySue » October 7th, 2017, 3:47 pm

First, please don’t feel any obligation to do anything at all about this. You are welcome to ignore

A huge thank you to several who have already donated. :luv: :luv: :luv:

I’m doing a night walk in the Olympic Park on 14th October, in memory of my Mum and Grandma, both of whom had Alzheimer’s. The walk is both a memorial and a fundraiser.

I’m only doing 5 miles, so well within my reach (I hope!), even at night :terrified:

You can help me to raise money for this cause by donating directly to my fundraising page - where you can see some background information and some photos (those who have already visited - there are two new photos.
https://www.justgiving.com/mw248094?utm_source=Sharethis&utm_medium=fundraisingpage&utm_content=mw248094&utm_campaign=pfp-email&utm_term=y4YDdmnya.

JustGiving sends your donation straight to Alzheimer's Society and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more.
Thank you for your support!

I promise to donate as soon as I can.

What a lovely thing to do for a good cause. I hope you enjoy the event. You'll 'walk' it. :hi5:

Good luck Sue! For some reason I was thinking you were doing a London bridges walk - DD did one for another charity last weekend. This one looks pretty good - I have never done a night one but they are supposed to be fun and it is lovely to do something useful in memory of loved ones as you are. We'll all pray for good weather!

Well, I did it, along with 3 000 others
It was rather nice walking briskly through the Olympic Park on a warm night, much of it was interestingly lit (some of it wasn't, I did wonder at points why anyone with virtually no night vision should have done a night walk). The Anish Kapoor structure was lit up in red, still didn't look very appealing to me but definitely a landmark
So thanks to everyone who supported me, the Just Giving page will be open for a while if anyone is still interested

Well done Sue! An especially big effort from you with the vision problems. I hope it was rewarding for you as well as the charity close to your heart. :cocktail: :cocktail:

I took my first ever phone selfie while crossing the start line (thought I might look awful by the finish)
