Yes, I think it may be down to the quality/type of food that is available. I bought what I thought was a good value sack of seed mix from my local garden centre last week, but it turns out to be almost entirely of wheat grains; very little else and as my BiL pointed out, only pigeons would really eat that. The 2 feeders that were filled last Saturday have hardly been touched, so you obviously get what you pay for. I am now blitzing it down and mixing with the fat/dripping that I have accumulated from all the bone stock I have been making lately and making fat cakes. I usually place a large order with the RSPB as the quality from them is good ... unless anyone else knows better

No-one knows if you've done your housework, but everyone knows if you've done your gardening !
