Am I Strange?

Postby Grasshopper » August 7th, 2018, 8:16 pm

I'm sat here, at this time of night, eating a bowl of dry cheerios. We have milk, lots of milk, but it's supper-time, & they actually taste quite nice dry, and are healthier than crisps & peanuts. :chops:

Am I strange to be eating cereal like this?

Perfect bedtime snack. Lots of people in my family have cereals at bedtime ... but then my family could be considered a bit odd ...

The lovely thing about being grown up is that you can do what the hell you like! I think certain cereal is lovely eaten without milk as a snack. You must eat it in your fingers though.

I don’t mind Cheerios eaten dry, like popcorn, but I don’t like the way the sugar glaze goes a bit slimy in milk. I’d probably prefer them without so much sugar to be honest but that’s just me

I've never eaten Cheerios, but I am sure you are not strange eating them naked, as it were! I love bitesize shredded wheat straight out of the packet. Could easily nibble dry granola if the urge hit.

If it hits the spot, whatever time of day, I say go for It! :tu:

It's probably me who is strange because I loathe all cereals at whatever time of day and I don't like milk either

I only eat a banana before I go to bed, have done for years. Mr R has a fat free yogurt.

A few years ago, one of the cereal companies started selling pots of luxury granola, designed to be eaten dry, as snacks. They didn't stay on the shelves for long - presumably people who liked dry cereal realised it was cheaper to buy the standard bags.

I like Mornflake granola (cheap and less sugary than most) I find the container empties rather more rapidly than you would expect from the frequency of granola breakfasts  Gets eaten in place of biscuits

KC2, it's not just me then..... I used to do that many decades ago !

Eating cereal at night saves time in the morning  I know some peeps have cereal and pour orange juice over it.

On the odd occasion when I need a chocolate fix I eat dry chocolate pillows (Cereal) from Lidl.

Me too on the Coffee Mate. Also St Iceland 5 pints dried milk

Couldn’t do cereal with orange juice, but not really liking milk I have been known to use apple juice or yogurt with my granola

not a cereal fan here - maybe granola at a push - but i did like mapleton's 'fru-grains' especially eaten straight from the pack. i have not tried the prewet's (take-over?) version as the reviews are not good.
as these are the Ingredients:- Fruit (dates, figs, vine fruits), wholemeal flour, dextrose, molasses, bran, hazelnuts, peanuts, almonds, wheatgerm - maybe some sort of experimentation could happen...
they looked like a cross between bits of a chocolate flake and lumps of rotten wood but tasted wonderful.

I remember the first time I had Cheerios - it was at the GYS (about 20yrs ago?!?!) - served dry, in a tiny polystyrene cup. They were delicious, and to me, just like Sugar Puffs. :D
