Poorly Pusscat!

Postby Grasshopper » October 6th, 2018, 7:08 pm

One of my mogs, Dolly, isn't well. She has a very sore eye and we think it could be a third eyelid infection. She hasn't been to a vet since she was spayed between 5 & 6 months old, and she's now nine and a half, and a senior. Astonishingly, the vet down the road from us isn't open at weekends, so we are just bathing her eye until we can get her looked at properly. She seems otherwise healthy tho, but a sore eye needs seeing to.

Just hope it's nothing serious - she's my baby & I'm worried.

Poor thing. I am sure that the vet will be able to help. Mine all started to need more frequent visits to the vet as they got older ... but all lived to average age 20 so although they didn't much like going there it was worth it!

one of our cats had a bad eye, a few years back, possibly a scratch from another cat. i bathed it with a weak salt solution until the vet was available. the vet gave him the usual metacam pain killer but also took a little of his blood, centrifuged it and gave me back the serum as eye drops which did the trick in no time.
good luck with dolly.

Well, it looks like we may not need to take Dolly-pop to the vet after all. Her eye looks a lot better today and is almost fully open. Mum now thinks she got something in her eye which irritated her and caused the problem.

Might be worth getting it checked. One of my cats had to have his eye removed after an infection didn't heal. Better to catch it early.

Dolly's eye looks much better today. We didn't need to take her to the vet after all, but we will keep an eye on her.
