Roses Lime Juice - back on sale!

Postby Bubbles » October 27th, 2018, 2:46 pm

Was shopping in Asda yesterday as they have a wine offer at the moment, and as I passed the soft drinks I spotted some. I have been looking for this all summer so very happy as its not been available. Although I might not use it now till next year when the sun is back in force, I bought a bottle to look forward to! Thought I'd share as I know some of you have missed it! :D

Lime in general has been away from the shelves for most of the summer Thankfully because I drink a lot of it I had stockpiled it ! We were wondering how the pubs had faired ?

Was out with friends a week ago - one drinks soda with lime and the other lemonade n lime. I tasted the soda as friend hardly drank any and was leaving a practically full glass. It definitely wasn't Roses, yuck. Incidentally they were charged 70p just for the lime!

We bought some Waitrose lime cordial in the summer - we're not great lime cordial drinkers so I had no idea Roses had not been available. It seemed to be fine ....

Remember the days when it was served with vodka?

Oh yes ... I think I put myself off vodka by having a bit too much of that

Oh dear- I had forgotten that.... wish you hadn't reminded me! :D

Roses lime juice always seemed weirdly exotic when I was a child.

I have always hated the stuff - even with vodka!! Having lived in the caribbean for 6 years and got used to the fresh stuff the awful sickly sweetness of the cordial is a nightmare. having said that I would never drinkorange squash or similar eaither.

I was very briefly a vodka and lime girl... also underaged teen experimental drinking :? The word was that it could not be detected (by parents) on one's breath... (That info possibly came from the same source that said that smoking coffee could get you high. I didn't try that one though.) The taste of it takes me back with very mixed emotions.

My default drink in pubs is lime and soda, but I prefer it made with fresh lime. The cost of a lime soda varies from £0 to about £3 and everything in between in London. £1 is the norm though, I find.

I used to quite like Pulcro... it's a bit enamel removing though.

I remember having lime juice cordial as a kid - loved it.

I don't mind lime cordial as a soft drink, I like a slice of lime in my g & t...
... but I never managed to enjoy vodka and lime.
I tried really hard to enjoy it in the 70s but matured into vodka and tonic eventually.
Actually I rarely drink it these days, someone gave me a bottle 2 years ago and it still isn't finished.
I usually have some in because I have a couple of pals who enjoy it.

I prefer Morrison’s own brand, and it has been back for a couple of weeks
