Looks as though it'll be very popular place to go Grassy :chops: . Rather a long way from here to go for a cuppa though!

(Since when was serving tea in vintage china a novelty?).

Not my cup of tea either! I did wonder at the 'novelty' of serving in vintage china and milk bottles. We have a local cafe that serves drinks in old jam jars :sprout: :sprout:

I think the Ambridge Tea Room got there ages ago!
A long way for me too and I'd have to remeber my sunglasses if that cake was on display

Have just found out that we are losing our branch of Patisserie Valerie :( Not that I've ever eaten in there, but it's sad to see it go, and all because of someone's greed.

The new Cake 'Ole will probably be a big hit with students.

I have refused to go near a Patisserie Valerie since my visit to Cribbs Causeway shopping mall in Bristol. I asked for a toasted sandwich and as I paid I saw them take a ready toasted one from the display (which looked almost fossilised) to be reheated :( . At that point something happened to the tall glass shelved display of coffee syrups and it tumbled onto the counter covering everyone near with glass, syrup and anything it had hit on the way down. I and several other customers were in the firing line and half my cup of coffee had been knocked over my tray.

They made a fuss about clearing up the shop but continued to take the money, offered no assistance, apology or fresh coffee or tray and the fossilised sandwich was inedible. It was an extremely miserable experience and I never want to go to one again.

Their cakes always looked nice though.

Mr S loves them. I bought him a Patisserie Valerie cream tea voucher for his birthday which we were intending to use after the half-marathon in March but I fear we may not get the chance.

EM - at the prices PV charge, one would expect everything to be freshly prepared!

This is where me & Sis like to go...

Their food is always freshly prepared. They don't even have a microwave! If you want a baked potato, they do a batch of them daily, the old-fashioned way ......

Yum!

We took our goddaughter to PV in January last year for a pre-theatre bite to eat. I must say we were very impressed with the standard of the food - although it wasn't cheap it was what I would expect to pay in the West End. I had a rather fine toasted cheese sandwich IIRC.
