Just Call Me Sherlock!

Postby Grasshopper » July 10th, 2019, 8:24 pm

This morning, while walking the last bit of my journey into 'W', I found a purse on the steps. I picked it up & took it straight inside.
It looked like it belonged to a female & said 'Armani' on the front. It looked quite expensive.
I had a good rummage inside to see if I could find any ID. There was at least £20 in there, along with various cards, and even medication! :o
I found a couple of cards (loyalty cards, they looked like), with a FEMALE NAME on! 'Aha!', I thought, 'I wonder if she's a student?' (A couple of the cards looked uni-related.)

I took it to the security desk, along with the person's name, and they had a look to see if they could find her on our system.

Bingo!

It turned out that she WAS a student, and they were able to contact her, so that she could come and claim her purse back.

She hadn't showed up by the time I was going home.

Still, nice little pat on the back for moi.

Well done! You'd think anyone would be quite anxious to get a purse and the other stuff back, but perhaps she wasn't so bothered once she knew it was somewhere safe.

Well done Grassy

I once left my purse on a pub counter and the only Id in it was my organ donor card, so the bar maid called my dad, who’s details were on it, and he phoned me and told me to pop back for it.

Well done Grassy! Good to be around kind and honest people on here. :hi5:

Last week I was queuing for the bus home from the library and thought I was travelling a bit light. I suddenly remembered I had left a whole bag of Asda shopping in the toilet cubicle that I had used before I left, complete with all my medical records which I had popped in there for ease of carrying. I nipped back to find the toilets were disabled which locked with keys and had codes which I had to get from reception which was half way round the building. How relieved was I when I found my bag still there when I finally got the door open. And I still managed to catch my bus. Losing my medical records would have been very inconvenient!

I once found a wallet with £50 and medication and id. Took it to the block of flats where the owner lived and rang the bell - no answer so took it into the housing office and got a receipt. Never heard a dicky bird. Housing office couldn't believe I had driven over with it and handed it in. Never crossed my mind to do anything else. Must be because I was brung up proper!

Well done Grassy!!! Clever and caring!!! :hi5:
I hope she will remember to thank you somehow. Over here it is customary to give 10% of the money's worth to the finder. If someone cannot afford that, a proper thank you or a token of esteem like a chocolate or so are also possible.

Apparently she turned up about 10 mins after I left. Haven't heard anything since, (but there might be something on my e-mail tho).
She is VERY lucky it was moi who found it. I've told students 'till I'm blue in the face about leaving belongings laying around. There are also warning signs about thieves, but they don't listen!!!!!

Exam times are the worst. We are talking stuff worth HUNDREDS of pounds! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

Have just had a shifty at my 'W' e-mails. There is NOTHING there about the purse, not even, it seems, a thank-you from the owner!

I wasn't expecting a reward, but a civil thank-you would have been nice.

*sigh*

If you left the purse at the security desk maybe the person wasn't given your details.

The security guys knew it was me who found the purse, so they could have passed on a message of thanks, if she had given one.
*sigh*
Students, eh?
