Mengen, Turkey, where Turkish chefs are born ....

Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

Mengen, Turkey, where Turkish chefs are born ....

Hi all
With apologies for nepotism  I thought some Wildies might be interested in DS's short radio piece on the place in Turkey that has given birth to many of Turkey's top chefs. If it's not ok, mods please do get rid of my post.

So sad that tourists don't get to/want to get the real flavour of the country. I would love to, especially after listening to such an interesting piece!

Glad you enjoyed it, Sue! I gather there's going to be one on Georgian wine as soon as he's finished writing and recording it ...

Yes, I agree EM :( but we fortunately have the food festival cookbook so will be able to recreate some of the recipes :D The wild apricot soup DS mentions has pekmez in it, which seems to be a boiled and condensed grape juice I'm hoping we'll get at a local newly-opened Turkish supermarket as well as chickpeas, bulgar and walnuts.
