Wildie Day Out - London Dec 13th

Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

Have we agreed on which time slot we should buy exhibition tickets for?

I could probably get away for lunch. Question is will my manager notice that I am booking off the afternoon of the office party...

I know, the cheap tickets are ridiculous but there is no rhyme or reason to the pricing. It’s our 20th wedding anniversary tomorrow and we are going to London and seeing a matinee and evening show, staying over in the hotel we had our honeymoon in and returning home tomorrow.

I did the same thing and set a ticket alert up for when the tickets were released, we are both travelling to Kings Cross return, first class for £144 in total. The difference is staggering. Maybe because it’s Christmas time?

It will be that but also because it’s a Friday. Tickets out of London are at a premium then.

You're right PP. When I looked up the fare earlier the outgoing wasn't too bad but coming home was much more than I'd usually expect.

Sue - 12 noon was mooted but not confirmed. If we meet for coffee from 11 we can then either do the exhibition then lunch or vice versa. It doesn't look as though Herbi could make both whatever order we do them in so personally I would book for 12 noon - would that suit everyone else?

12 noon suits me.

I have to admit, I haven't checked my trains yet. Sorry to hear extortionate prices are getting in the way of attending. I hope mine are a lot cheaper. Should be, I'm only up the road really. Will look at the weekend.

I am paying er hum £85 for a first class up to Sheffield on Thursday, rebooked last Thursday, travelling peak time. Coming back by car. I have had seats at that price on a Friday booked a week before too. I did always think it was cheaper to get to London than to leave it too.

It's naughty indulgence but it makes the whole thing slightly more bearable, and I shall fill my boots with fruit cake and peanuts in the 1st class lounge. (Not really...)

Please don't plan anything aound me. If I have a mother emergency, or need to take aday to reccoer from a trip to my mother's, I may end up using what little is left of my annual leave (after Lisbon, that is... :) ) anyway.

£200 though. I could have booked to go to Paris and back three times for less than that last week. (One of their £29 each way offers. I was very tempted.)

There have been some PMs going on. As no-one has objected we are going for the following so people can book tickets and transport:

12pm entry to the Mary Quant exhibition (Friday December 13th), each person to procure their own ticket in advance but happy to help anyone who can't do this.

Meet in the main restaurant (not the Courtyard or Garden cafe) for coffee from 11am (through the main entrance in Cromwell Road, straight on right through the shop, down steps and out into outdoor courtyard, cross courtyard to other side, go through door and you're there. There are several small rooms - maybe we could try to sit in the room on the right as you go in. If you enter by the entrance in Exhibition Road it should be signed). Happy to give my phone number by PM to people I know who haven't got it in case anyone is late or lost. Might be an idea to have more than one, in case I am late or lost :).

Pot luck lunch somewhere in South Kensington afterwards unless someone wants to organise something.

I haven't mentioned until now that I may have to cancel due to a number of personal reasons I would rather not go into right now. I reckon you will all have a cracking time anyway! And before anyone wonders if my decision is FB related.....no, far from it. I wish it was that simple. Let's just say, I have had a number of let downs which have scuppered my plans!

If I can come along I will book later on and will join you all! But for now, it is looking a bit doubtful.
