Good morning
Sunny again here so exercise will be taken, muscles are beginning to recover from 8 days of disuse but need to keep it up. I thought of buying a static exercise bike at Xmas, really wish I had now

I am expecting the council to announce changes to our rubbish collection schedule, I’m on the shops/businesses round so currently collections at 9 in the morning and 9 at night daily, this obviously won’t continue indefinitely as the businesses are shut up.

Have a good day everyone

walking up and down stairs is really good for you. maybe a bit boring unless you listen to an audio book or play on the radio but at least you know you're not going to tread in anything untoward.

Good morning everyone ... how exciting today has been so far... first shop at Tesco since last week.. I only wanted the fresh stuff and plenty of that apart from cabbages, but that could have been because of the recent wet weather. I am now just about to start a live streamed Fitsteps class. I'm so easy to please.

Good morning everyone,
Slightly less chaotic here, my sis, nephew and their cat were able to move back into their flat last night. The work has obviously been suspended but the important things have now been done.
My younger son arrived home in the early hours of Tuesday complete with most of the contents of his flat or as much as he could fit safely in his car! Yesterday was bedlam but we are more organised now. He's set the dining room up as an office so can work in peace and I can still get on with my day without us getting in each others way. My son's fiancée has volunteered to assist the NHS (her PHD is in immunology) so they are waiting see what happens with that. At present they are both WFH thankfully although their flat is small it's got two bedrooms so they both work away in relative comfort.
Things are still busy with the out of school club but much less frantic, I've got some chores done this morning and Tesco is due soon then I'll get stuck back in to the admin. I wonder what will and will not come but I'm sure we can manage round any gaps.
As someone who usually doesn't get out much the current confines are probably less of a challenge for me than most, I'm used to get my exercise with my home and garden and have my daily physio routine as well. It did strike me yesterday that I'm not going to be able to get my usual garden supplies and plants this season. I've plenty of veg seeds so these rather than flowers will be my focus. I've lots of nasturtium seeds so they will give the place some colour this summer.

My lovely neighbour has added bread flour to her Ocado order for me.
Out of stock this week but available next week apparently.

We had a good chat, at distance, over the garden fence yesterday while her kids let off steam on the trampoline and the cats negotiated the climbing frame.

Morning all!. Loving all this sun :luv:. Nice to see people present and correct here ;).

I had a go at the much publicised Joe Wicks exercise for kids at 9am today. (on YouTube). It's quite good but I think you can find it and do it later in the day. At 9am I had just had breakfast and wasn't wearing a sports bra which wasn't the ideal situation.

No shopping for me yet. I will have to fetch a prescription in about a week so may have to go then as my fresh and frozen fruit/veg will be very low. I am eating less to make stocks last (and may even come out of this lighter!). GD and her mum are self isolating and not even going to shops (she is paranoid about it and has a small health issue but nothing more than many). Her mum has been too and I will for as long as I can then we will have a support network if anything goes wrong. DS doesn't live with them and is key worker with some risk so they won't be doing the child sharing thing which is still allowed but he can get essential supplies if really needed. Once I've been shopping I'd have to do 14 days again but am happy with that.

Someone on Twitter commented that they planned to lose 5kg while quarantined with total control of what they ate

Currently they only have 7 kg to go :D

It’s a lovely afternoon here, walk has been walked

Does anyone use Amazon Prime Video? If so how do you find out what’s available?
I open the app on my TV and all I get is a series of sets of thumb nails, which are quite difficult for me to identify but I can do it. However there is no structured catalogue, so if I want to watch, for example a classic comedy the only way of finding one is to keep swiping through the thumbnails until you find one that you fancy. There are 4000 items on Prime. The alternative is to choose a film and then search to see if it is on Prime.

My Prime app sorts films by genre and/or another category such as ‘oscar winners”. That is on my iPad though, will check the fire stick app later.

  - how lucky for the dog to get a parcel BB!!!

I had a lovely walk, made some oat biscuits because all the ingredients were in my box of things to use up and then, phoned some older distant relatives I've been meaning to phone since Christmas. Such a relief to have done it at last and actually quite a good time to do it as they are usually very active and feel very cooped up despite having hobbies.

Tomorrow's main event will either be cleaning the windows or the bathroom tiles ... spoilt for choice there!

Re Sue's question, sometimes I can't find things on a screen because I'm looking in the wrong place or because the screen is distorted on a small phone screen. Where should she be looking for the menu?

You can but they're not the best - a bit sweet. Kavey posted a recipe on FB recently which looked as though it worked well. I'll have a look (later though as need to do something else now).

Chinch - this is the one I used today (also hidden somewhere on the biscuit thread!). I hadn't made them for years, I think they are very sweet for today's tastes but not bad once left and crisped up. I froze half the mixture as it makes a lot.

Oat Crunchies (from The Sainsbury Book of Baking by Carole Handslip. 1980)

125g rolled oats
50g medium oatmeal
150g soft brown sugar
120ml vegetable oil
1 egg
½ tsp almond essence (try vanilla if you don't like almond)

Place oats, oatmeal, sugar and oil in a bowl, mix well and leave to stand for 1 hour.
Add the egg and almond essence and beat together thoroughly. Place teaspoons of the mixture well apart on a greased baking sheet and press flat with a damp fork (supposed to make 30) .

Bake in a preheated oven 160C, gas 3, for 15 - 20 mins until golden brown, Leave to cool for 2 minutes then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.

I didn't get to bake Christmas biscuits ... I am considering baking a few simple ones in the next week ... ginger maybe or summery macaroons (the coarse German kind, not the fancy French version) and some cake.
