I know the above link isn't exactly surprising but I wonder (idle musings without looking into it further) if we had a lockdown period every year whether it would have a lasting effect on our environment or whether we'd just make up for it afterwards.
I like the thought of an annual lockdown, perhaps around this time of year (a whole new meaning for Lent!). No flights, no socialising, no panic buying or travel to get to nice places allowed in the run up, just time to calm down where you live and make the best of what you have. I wonder if the world economy would, after a while, adjust accordingly as well?
Without a pandemic to worry about, vulnerable people could be catered for.
Some would say the World Police were at large if it were even suggested but I can see so many advantages!
