New Members - Introduce yourself here!

Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

Ah fair enough. I hadn't spotted those conversations on chatterbox.

The horrific events in Manchester were discussed on Chatterbox and elsewhere and from what I've read there has been massive support. What an amazing show of support by the people of Manchester. My nephew is a student there and I'm going to go and visit soon I hope. :)

If you want any food/drink suggestions let me know!

We had a very emotional minute's silence at work yesterday. So many people congregated in the centre of the University and you could have heard a pin drop. We'd heard the police helicopter flying over (there was a suspect package about 2 miles away from us that the bomb squad was investigating) and even that went away making it even quieter. At the end, someone started clapping, which spread through the crown and set me off crying. The scenes from the city centre made me cry too. It has been an awful week here in the city, but it has been lovely to see everyone coming together :luv:

I will smitch! Thanks. I imagine my nephew's choices are student orientated which is probably for the best for him!

I work with an enormous amount of people throughout the world and the messages I've received have been wonderful. Indeed it's super when globally people come together for a common ground.

Hi Andipandi:

The board rules can be found here:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=87

The only outright banned subjects are subjects which are illegal in the UK.

And we ask people to limit discussion on particularly contentious subjects like Politics, and Religion. But it's not banned, we just try and keep a friendly atmosphere.

It's always a good idea to follow the directions exactly the first time you try a recipe. But from then on, you're on your own. -- James Beard

We also try to avoid discussing Religion too... :)

Politics and Religion can lead to people repeating polarised views to no good effect. The odd mention of either in passing is OK.

Aren't there three things to avoid in polite conversation, politics, religion and money? Which is a shame re money, got a tax refund, £24 76p. Oh well if I keep quiet at least the begging letters won't keep coming.

I think it's not so much what you talk about, but how you talk about it ... But then that's so subjective ... So it's usually better to avoid politics religion and money .... Except ... Do allow me to congratulate you on your new wealth Miss Mouse ... Enjoy spending it :D
