Lighting a candle

Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

Thinking of you Sue. Raise a nice glass and treat yourself carefully. Remember the good times and eat something you really want as a treat.

Please light a candle tonight for our lovely neighbour and friend of many many years who died yesterday evening.

Marthe was the first person to welcome us to Les Yves and she has been a huge part of our life here. We thought she had overcome the bowel cancer with with she was diagnosed last spring, it was said to have been detected early, indeed she was due to have surgery next week to reverse the stoma. However she had a massive heart attack.

We are all devastated. The requiem mass is tomorrow and she will be buried in the village where she was born - her 90year-old brother will celebrate the mass.

She leaves an unmarried son and another who was widowed this very same week last year. Three grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren

The lady whose house I 'visit' once a week lost her 48 yr. old son to a massive heart attack - they are all shocked and devastated, coroner and police involved. Seems he was not found for about 6 days, lived a pretty solitary life in a large house in the middle of nowhere. He will be buried on 1st Feb.

My brother in law is having a liver transplant today. We got the news last night and they are supposed to have started at 6am. I believe it can take up to 12 hours. He's been in hospital since Christmas with a very rare (1 in a million) complication of a rare condition (Polycythemia) that he suffers from. It's a positive but terrifying move forward (I hope.)
