Quiet in here. Loads of newer photos if you click on the above link.

Now Saturday morning. My Internet link is up the spout again, so I'll drop in when I can. Being Easter probably won't be until Tuesday at the earliest. :(

Happy Easter to you all and don't eat too much chocolate.

Another edit.

Too much chocolate??? Can that be??? This is what the Easter bunny left for the kids in our house.

Image

The fungus is super, almost scary. The prunus, however ... rabähhh!!! We still have frost and snow every day here!!!

The fence and the lamppost are very pretty, too!

And that's all she wrote for tonight. Thanks for your wonderful Easter card! I'll comment properly once I've had some sleep.

Happy easter to you all, still wading though the mountain of chocolate.

Lovely Sunday here and it is living up to its name as it is very sunny but also very cold

Back to your pictures, Jane, the architectural shots are wonderful. I like the glimpse of the tower, for instance.

Not much from me, just a few snow pictures from Good Friday.

Great photo, Terry! What's the plant? (Sorry if I missed that).

I think I've finally managed to stop saying 'un photographe' for 'a photograph'. French 'un photographe' is a photographer. It'd be nice if 'photographeur' was the word for 'photographer'. They just do it to confuse, us you know!

Hi Phil, stop asking akward questions  , not a clue, I do birds, Uschi is our flower expert perhaps she will know.

It is a wild flower, I took the picture last year on a day out with Mamta at an Orchid meadow.

I have looked in my wild flower book but cannot see it, if I find out I will let you know.

That dandelion head looks positively futuristic! Great photo.

Terry: yes, you learn stuff on here.

Talking of which, does anyone have any idea what this is? My teenage daughter just took this. It's not all focussed, but the central part is. she had better photos, but there were bigger than 2 Mo.

I'm fairly sure that's a corydalis. They come out fairly early in the year and are very attractive little plants. We had yellow ones in the garden and they even grew out of cracks in the walls. :D

Hi uschi lovely vibrant colours.
I would take the second picture & crop to just show the colours & hide the box, also pic 5, once again crop to lose the boxes to the top & left hand side of the photo just leaving the colours & thw two brushes, look forward to hearing how you get on

Some more from me, but not many as I've got to find some time to get out, if I can stand the cold. Lovely and sunny here, but freezing cold. Doesn't exactly make you want to go out. :(

The tunnel has a bit of "Time-Tunnel" about it. Did you have that on TV way back then???

The thuja cones look like ancient reptiles somehow. Great!!

Don't know what the little flowers are. Something mustard-y???

Doh, "Colour Rush" isn't today but in a fortnight. Time for a few more attempts.

I don't remember a programme called that Uschi, but we didn't have a TV until I was 5 and then I was only allowed to watch certain things, Dr Who being one !!

Last night's dinner and a few other things. It rained yesterday, is doing the same today and there's a snow warning in the north. :o

We're meant to be getting a better day on Sunday, before it rains/snows again. They say look for spring around the 15th............ :?

I was lucky, mediawise I had a very varied upbringing. I was allowed to watch TV (not all day, but within reason), read all the books I wanted and listen to audio records. And my parents had nothing against comics, which was unusual for the time. Many believed that reading comics would lead children straight into illiteracy and moral decay. And this in a country where Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse had a translator who held a full degree in history. We grew up with a wealth of literary and historical quotes without even knowing it.

I was allowed to read whatever I wanted, comics to classics whichever, the radio and records were fine too. Cinema fine as long as it wasn't Walt Disney we wanted to see, mum couldn't stand it. My sister and I didn't see "The Sound of Music" until our teens and that was on TV with mum hiding behind a book. As for "Bambi" didn't see that until my early 20s. I sobbed my heart out and the family I'd gone with (young kids and their mum) were all howling with laughter at me and passing the tissues.   Just the telly, which was odd, but it didn't last too long. We then had free range of what we watched.

I've never seen "Sound of Music", either. There is a German version which covers the Trapp Familie, too, but is less of a musical and more of a "Heimatfilm".

In the sixties, we got a bit of black and white telly, in the Scottish Borders, via the 'Relay'. No ITV. But, when I was 8, I got to watch Dr Who, which our kids will watch tonight, all those decades later.

My mum used to switch off 'Top of the Pops' when the Stones were singing 'I can't Get No Satisfaction'. She said it was disgusting, but I had no idea what she was talking about.

Such innocent times!

Going up north in a motor home tomorrow, maybe get in touch with Capt Lightening on the way back. Going up west coast and down east coast. That is Scotland I am talking about. Will take lots of photos and post them when we get back. Hoping to get as far as Cape Wrath. Will have to see how the weather is.
Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.
