Down below the coffee shop is the cellar. Perfect for keeping the home made tipples a bit stronger than coffee or tea :-)

Just to start this off: :mug:
It has a good heat to it, a steamy nose, a touch of tannin, some flavinoids and a dash of milk

The only filtered water I have at home has been filtered through a bed of malted barley before having preservatives (from Humulus lupulus) added to it.

At the minute I am looking forward to going and pouring a small glass of very dry sherry from the bottle stored safely in the fridge. During the rest of today it has been ginger and lemon tea, chicken broth and copious amounts of water.

Peppermint Tea and cold filtered water at work but now, after a crappy day at work - a nice vodka with mango juice and lots of ice. Just a shame the sun's not out because it tastes much better when sitting outside on the patio with the sun shining down.

A very large glass of blackcurrent and fizzy water, tonight is a night off the demon alchohol, should have been last night but immindoors was already into his first beer when I got home at 5.30pm !!!!!

On the subject of drink.............I have just heard that the cider tax has been dropped. Hurrah for that, it is my poison, problem is I have 10 x 3 litre bottles in the garage I bought when they said it was going up from the day they announced it. Oh well, it should last well into the Summer !

Unless I misunderstood the report today, it's been removed from the current legislation in order to get the opposition to co-operate in getting essential stuff through, before Parliament is dissolved. The idea has not been abandoned, so if Labour get in with an absolute majority (why don't we have a "flying pig smiley?), then they say they'll re-introduce it.

Hi Ian, I won't vote for them so they won't get in !!!!!!

I think the young of this country (who love their cider and "do" computers) will lobby Soooooooo hard that Labour will abandon this ridiculous tax. I for one will go and live on a Greek Island because everything that affects me gets taxed sooner or later in this country !!!! Gets off podium !!!!!

Needless to say I am now happily drinking a glass of Frosty Jack cider with 10 more bottles in the garage that will not not be affected by this tax rise AAaaaah !!!!!

Not drinking it right now but also a fan of Frosty Jack cider. I keep a large bottle in the fridge and often use it in place of white wine - the alcohol content is lower and the taste delicious. A sort of low alcohol cava type from a full bottle and a bit chardonnayish when flat.

I am trying not to drink to lose the weight and only have gin, whisky and Frosty Jack in the kitchen. But I am dribbling at the thought of that sherry CC has in his mitt. A nice dry fino and some salted almonds would go down very well at the moment.

Get thee behind me Satan. Or shall I walk into town for a bottle? That would burn up some calories too.

I am not that keen on the smoked ones - I can only eat about half a dozen before my mouth loses all sense of taste. Elisabeth David's recipe from Spices, Salt and Aromatics in the English Kitchen is the business. I buy the big bags of almonds from Holland and Barratt and make them fresh when I want them. Something else that has not been tasted for a while until the weight goes. Only another thirteen weeks to go.

I think you should all know that CC has led me on the road to rack and rooney. If I fail to reach my target weight it is all his fault.

A fino by the left, some salted almonds on the right.

And he has started me off re-reading Elizabeth David again.

Santé, FCQ.

I'm just getting through my second mug of tea. We went to my SIL's birthday party last night, and returned at the ungodly hour of 3am, so the Saturday lunchtime beer will have to wait.
And, needless to say, I ended up in the kitchen most of the night because the girl who was supposed to come and cook MY snacks never turned up!
I've got nice bottle of Chilean Carmenère for later on,though!
