Albino carrot !

Out by the shed, near the chicken coop. The place everyone hangs out to discuss the various edibles they raise in their gardens/allotments.

Albino carrot !

Postby Zosherooney » September 22nd, 2017, 6:23 am

Yesterday I pulled a carrot from the garden, they are in the next row to the 'snips'. It was white with a pinky purple shade down one side ! For a moment I thought I'd pulled a snip but no, it had carrot tops. I know that carrots used to be purple but this one was deffo white except for the tinge.... How odd is that ? Mr. Z has take half of it as batons in his lunch today. I bet he thinks its a snip..... :?

As Herbi says ... there's lots of them out there nowadays as different coloured 'heritage' carrots are being more widely grown again the chance stray seed getting stuck in the packing mechanism and ending up in the wrong packet is happening more frequently.

My local greengrocer sells white, purple and orange carrots routinely
The purple ones give borscht a lovely colour.

You can buy seed to get a mix of colours including yellow
