I know he's very Marmite but I adore Rev Richard Coles.

Oh so do I ... he's a complete star!!! Lovely chap :D We saw him earlier in the year (I think it was this year :? ) on Cromer pier, on a Friday evening drinking a pint before doing the Saturday Live from the pier theatre :D Just being a nice chap, saying hello to those who said hello to him :D

I love him. Intelligent, witty, polite - what's not to like.

I do hope he does well and isn't the comedy act. I read both his books recently, he has certainly lived life! Both a good read.

Can't really see him as a great dancer, even in his pop days he sat still at the keyboard and let Jimmy do the gyration, but he will be fun

The rest not exactly a stellar line up, my money on Mollie from the Saturdays so far, hope some more intersting names to come

I know two people who cannot abide him. :o

Agree about the books BB. Graphic but excellent.

He's very good value on Twitter especially when he meets up with his mum.

He's vicar of the parish next to my mum's.

I won't watch Strictly as I can't deal with these sort of celebrity shows but agree with BB, what is there not to like? He is so interesting to watch and to listen to.
I now have the Strictly theme tune stuck in my head! From the ads not from watching it!

I was only thinking earlier today that Strictly will be on soon, that will be my Saturday night's viewing sorted. :D

I thought I recognised Rev Richard Coles but wasn't sure from where.

I read today that Aston from JLS is in it?
I'm not a huge Strictly fan, but do usually put it on and do my half watching, no contestants so far really interest me but, then I said that a couple of years ago and absolutely fell in love with Jay McGuiness who I knew nothing about despite owning one of his groups albums!

I think it could turn out to be a great series........looking forward to seeing both Simon and Rev Richard Coles. The reveal on Sunday Brunch was rather funny when they brought on a can of fake tan and a colour chart!

How did we enjoy last nights episode introducing all the contestants.
I have realised that I have seen Shirley Balas before when she Shirley Stopford.

Good start. I loved the rev's glittery vicar's outfit. I'm another fan. I like him on the painting programme too. lot

Mr R wouldn't admit it to anyone but he loves strictly - don't tell him I told you. He thinks it spoils his desire to be seen as intellectual

I love Strictly, but always find this first programme a bit tedious ... so I watch it on delay ... then ff through the bits I find boring ... I do though love the pro's opening dance and the celebs first dance at the end :tu: I reckon the little lad with the chin strap beard (no idea who he is ;) ) stands a good chance of winning.. after all he already does street dance in his act doesn't he ? I hope Jonnie Peacock does well though - how brave is he to do this :) :tu: My Fitsteps instructor ( being an ex professional ballroom dancer too) knows Shirley Ballas very well .. but then she also knew one of the 'favourites' for head judge very well too - Gary Edwards .. he is her Ex ! His tv interview was excruciating ! :(

At over two hours the programme was far too long.
I think that Brian Conley will be first to go.

I think you may be right Moira ... How good was Debbie McGee ? I think her talent took everyone by surprise.. and as I guessed, the lad who was on last also showed that he may be a favourite too... (Aston ???)

It was a bit tedious but there were some suprises weren't there? Debbie was amazing for example.

I was impressed by Shirley Ballas very positive and helpful I thought.

My firm favourites are Susan Calman and the Rev, their sheer joy in taking part was infectious. Debbie was a surprise in some respects but not in others, she was once in a ballet corps, but what a shot across the bows of the younger contestants?

I’m afraid I adore Anton, but Ruth is destined to be a bit rubbish. I love everything about strictly - it’s just a joy.

A great way of spending a Saturday evening in my book ... I love dancing as you all probably know (I could bore for England on the subject of Zumba and Fitsteps ;) so no surprise there) .. Quite often in the Fitsteps class I ask out loud " where is Anton when you need him ?" ;)

I have it on good authority that Debbie Mcgee is a trained dancer ! My Zumba instructor was in the same dance troupe under the direction of Dougie Squires back in '70's ! I suspect she has been keeping up her dance classes ever since .....

Down my local if you mentioned strictly you would be thrown out
As a matter of interest, it is obviously a very popular programme, how many of your OHs watch it with you & genuinely enjoy it.

This was forced upon me yesterday at a family gathering. I couldn't get the horribleness of it all, including the theme tune, out of my head until my nephew found a Postman Pat play toy that played much better tunes. Simon Rimmer should stick to food! I felt embarrassed for him!

Meant to say that I have an insider working on Strictly. My niece is a researcher on the programme and her name comes up on the credits. Look out for Laura Fairbank. :P ;) Until they go to Blackpool it's all filmed at Elstree which isn't far away from here.

There was a programme a few years ago, forget which channel which was a fly on the wall following Debbie McGee launching something to do with dancing or ballet.

I always record Strictly so that I can fast forward the training bits, makes it so much quicker to watch :D

D

I remember that programme too, it was a small company performing at small theatres, she was not dancing but was involved with the management. Paul Daniels made some of the effects, I remember a swan

Nevertheless I have been very impressed by her

Me too

Loved Susan Calman channelling her inner Betty Boop :D

No real idea who will win yet, there are a few you can't dismiss, but supporting Alexandra as she is my nearest neighbour (Islington). Did you know her mother died on August Bank Holiday?

You're totally right ... In my mind I was giving her the same age as my Zumba instructor who is 61 this year and doesn't look it either. They were in the same dance troupe :tu: :bounce:
