Supervet - Noel

On ITV (I think)

Noel is officially my absolute hero. There are a few upsetting moments in this series, such as when he decides the time is right to put a family pet to sleep (been there done that twice) but on the whole a thoroughly uplifting series showing a very dedicated man doing a job he loves saving the lives of pets. Hydrotherapy always makes me cry! Cats swimming! And people being reunited with much loved pets sometimes with cones on their heads.

My admiration of Noel is tempered by the realisation of just how rich he must be.

You have worded that beautifully PP ... ;) How much must the insurance premiums be to get that kind of treatment ???

Good on him if he is rich and if people need their pets treated they will pay anything. Been there and done that and I suppose many of us have.

I dont watch the Supervet as such, but I have seen Noel on other programmes.
I like his
Concept of One Medicine, in so far as I know what he means by it, surprisingly little on his various websites

I do admire his pioneering attitude to permanent prostheses - seems so obvious ... shame that humans can't benefit from that practice too :(

I recall a radio interview which he did where he explained that the techniques he has pioneered have led to use in humans. Likewise we had a long discussion with our canine orthopaedic consultant (our Scottie has a degenerative disc disease) about a referral to his son at Bristol uni who is also doing pioneering work on dogs which provides research for human disease management.

Fingers crossed- we are not at that point yet.

Thank the heavens for the NHS ............. at least we don't have to get into thousands of pounds worth of debt if our children become ill .........

Maybe we should have a pet NHS.

I think the one for humans is in too much financial difficulty, let alone one for pets :o
