Tonight it is 'Top of the Lake'

I missed the first series, but this one has got me interested ... :tu: Seems that Nicole Kidman is almost unrecognisable as a Lesbian (foster/step?) mother ;)

I'm on the last episode of the first series...........I have binge watched it over the last three days, it's excellent. Set the in beautiful New Zealand.

Will be watching the second series, I believe the whole series is available immediately on I player.

The story has now moved to Australia apparently ..... I hope I can catch up with the characters, not having seen the first series.

I think all the characters, apart from Elisabeth Moss's character, are new.

What a disappointment..... I could only manage 30 minutes of this last night ... really not my cup of tea - couldn't stand the language, the attitude of that young girl and the storyline .. What did everyone else think ?

We are currently watching it, I have just commented to OH that it makes the first series look very understandable.

I think you have to bear in mind that the policewoman is a specialist in sexual crimes.

I think it's probably well sited on bbc2, it's definitely not mainstream drama.

I didn't see the first series and this one clashes with something else I like to watch but I caught up with it today.

I think it shows promise. I am sure that missing the first series won't matter so much as this one goes on and the background is revealed further. I liked it and will certainly watch next week, it was never going to be teatime family viewing.

I'm completely hooked, now watching episode 4.

The two series are intertwined but it's still watchable as a standalone. More humour as series 2 progresses.

I recorded the first series thinking it was this series when they started the re-run a few weeks ago. I'm not upset as I didn't see it the first time it was on. We'll watch them on a wet day - like it is today.

I couldn't watch it either, Patsy, I lasted a bit longer than OH but didn't even get to 30 mins! I don't remember seeing the first series, or maybe I gave up on that too. We're watching In the Dark on BBC1, which we're enjoying - if "enjoying" is quite the right word! It's not exactly a barrel of laughs!

Just watched it tonight. Thought it started off very slow but built itself up quite nicely. Just the right level of menace and intrigue for me. Looking forward to the next one now!

I have binge watched the whole second series, so, so good. I love Elizabeth Moss, she manages to show such emotion and Nicole Kidman is so unlike able......

I actually think that it might be hard to follow if you don't watch the first series beforehand- the first sows the seeds that make the actions in the second more understandable.

I don't think the subject matter will be everyone's cup of tea, the sexual themes and casual sexism displayed are breathtaking at times. I wonder if Australia is quite as overtly sexist as portrayed here? I do hope not, I am revisiting in a couple of weeks, it's been nearly 26 years since I lived there I can't believe that feminism is as lacking as portrayed.

I have stayed the night in the pub in the first series.
It's the Glenorchy Hotel, we stayed there before we set off up the Routeburn.
Just the first 2 stages, not fit enough to do all of it.
A truly beautiful part of the world.
