Only Connect

Just to remind fans that the new series starts tonight. I am hoping to improve my average of answering one question correctly

I was reminded last night that I am red hot at the missing vowels round, but other than that, I'd have to get my coat.

I love doing the Walls ... was successful with both last night (polishing halo ;) )

I'm not so hot on the missing vowels tho'

Well done Suffs! I am still wondering what the first wall last night was all about! I usually get the ones the teams get stuck on and vice versa.

I'm out of practice with the walls. I completely forget about words to which you can add the same other ! Or perhaps I'm just showing my age?

J absolutely loves it.
He's pretty good at the connections, we both like to have a go at the walls.
I can't be bothered with the missing vowels round.
Strange really because I also tune out for the final round in Pointless.

Really enjoy the last round of Tipping Point though.

Really cannot be doing with Pointless ... I find it so tedious ... pointless in fact

I'm not the only one to think Pointless is pointless then, phew. So boring! I'm not sure anything out there at the moment could beat Letterbox for being a waste of time though. :? I think I managed five minutes of the first episode and that was enough.

Totally agree Tezza ... even Mel G appears less than enthusiastic about it ... in fact she seems totally unconvinced that it's of any use whatsoever

As Eggheads is on earlier nowadays we record it and watch it when Letterbox is on ... that's fooled 'em ;)

It's not as good as Hangman ...at least with Hangman someone gets to draw something ... Letterbox is just plain boring.

I found Only Connect tonight … did get some of the connections, but didn't fare well on the walls … however, perhaps that's because I am jet lagged, or is that just an excuse ;)

I got the mathematics one tonight no problem. 1+1=2...whatever the rest of it was... flowed quite easily for me right up to the fourth link, and I said it before they said it and I was dead chuffed that I got it right! Then I hit the two walls, then the missing vowels on politics for starters left me wanting to turn the TV over! So it was a topsy turvy episode for me which resulted in me needing a bit of moon watching and a cuppa.

i caught a little of letterbox yesterday (i had had the budget on) - even mel seemed to be struggling to be interested/enthusiastic - dire.

Bill Turnbull also hosted a quiz show after leaving the Breakfast TV sofa … that too was dire. The current male host on breakfast tv (can't remember his name) is also hosting a quiz show of a similar calibre.

I enjoy Pointlesswhen I watch it with someone else on a Saturday night with a glass of wine - we can play along and we tend to wander off into conversations related to the categories, not so much if I watch it alone. It’s meant to be a different kettle of fish to Only Connect of University Challenge and at least it’s not as dull as Eggheads (nothing is as dull as Rggheads)

I find Only Connect quite difficult, as you need to be able to read the screen at a glance, but I did quite well on the various sequences and then I seemed to know more answers than usual on UC

I find the same problem with Pointless. My eyesight is alright but they flash the questions up then concentrate on the players. I want to read all the questions, I have less interest in the players!

I am now so used to having to remember what people say, because ther will be no legible notes, and Alexander Srmstrong reads very clearly, so I’m fine with Pointless most of the time

We must have been on the same wavelength last night Sue! I somehow found some chemistry in the depths of my brain :bounce: :bounce: and Mr R said in astonishment "How on earth did you know that?" I hit him

I am enjoying the quirkiness of Richard Osman's "House of Games". It's in the old Eggheads spot and is far more entertaining than more news of Brexit.

Loving House Of Games too Will. Definitely more watchable than Pointless, Eggheads, Letterbox, and Only Connect is about as frustrating to me as playing a round of golf - I can't do it.
