The Little Drummer Girl

Well I’m two episodes in, and despite all the positive reviews I can’t get into it.

It’s all very confusing as characters slip in and out of playing other characters. I’m not sure I will bother with the rest.

Anyone else struggling or is it just me?

I’ve recorded but not yet watched
I couldn’t get into the book, and it went back to the library unfinished, many years ago
I was hoping the tv version would be easier

I can't tell which is the past, present or future! I'm not sure I can watch much more, either.

I love looking for icons of the late 70s though - like the chunky coffee set being used in one scene.

All I can say is that it less confusing that Black Earth Rising was! I still feel I missed something there. The Little Drummer Girl is a bit confusing but I think I have kept up with it - maybe ;) .

I do wonder why producers these days think it is clever to set such things in a confusing style. If we are confused then so must many more be. The novels are better written than that.

I had an inkling from the reviews that I wasn't going to 'get' the subject matter, and I decided ten minutes in to episode one not to give it any more of my time. I am not too keen on being reminded of the seventies either. So it's not one for me I am afraid!
