Has anyone else caught this???

Quite scary, how true some of this might become reality...

Would you recommend? I have the house (and TV) to myself for the next 5 days... Russell T Davies has a good track record (maybe apart from Cucumber, which I couldn't get into...)

I have watched both episodes, it’s enjoyable, thought provoking and quite frightening in equal measure.

It’s set in the near future and the take on politics is what’s most frightening. It has a good ensemble cast

The cast and story are both brilliant - I'm really enjoying it so far. The politics are frightening, as you can see that it is where the country is heading, but that aspect is tempered by the humour in the script. I suspect the further it gets into the future, the darker it will become.

Well I have just caught up with the third episode, the darkness is closing in!

I’m still enjoying the series, give it a go Herbi - I think Russell T Davies has delivered yet again.

According to the Radio Times, the numbers watching this is dropping off drastically, but I think it's the best thing on TV at the moment.

I'm loving this, I was so disappointed when I realised I caught up with all the episodes so far. It's very, very unlike me to binge watch a series so I must be enjoying it. :D

Decided to jump on the bandwagon and watched all three episodes last night. Very clever, yes of course there is a dark side and sadly, many scenarios seem almost inevitable, but the humour is brilliant. Clever to pick such a short period of 15 years to set it in.

I agree ltc! I still feel that the cleverest thing about it was the way the changes over 15 years gradually crept into life as we know it now. It would be quite interesting to do something similar well with years we have already lived through (note the word well - such things are often badly done!).

Do you think it's been left open for another series going further into the future, with Edith 'alive' in the 'cloud' to still be part of the family? Perhaps to see the political repercussions of overthrowing Rook, and the on-going effects of climate change in a growing population.

I think it would be very difficult to write a new drama about the same family - Gran can't live much longer and the next generation hasn't got much personality or story-line yet, apart from the cyber-girl, Bethany.

I’ve just read an interview with Russel T Davies........definitely no second series, he has deliberately finished before we know if Edith’s consciousness has transferred.

A bit of a strange ending but ultimately uplifting. I could see Bethany having a spin off series maybe?

Thoroughly enjoyed the series and makes you think about the changes currently happening to society.

I heard on an interview that it was about as far as you could plausibly go without it becoming sci fi.

Yes I really liked the way the gradual changes crept in with most just been absorbed/accepted by folk as the "norm". In some ways this reminded me of "Threads" in the 1980s (which completely freaked me at the time :scared: ) which had lots of news reports re impending war going on the background while folk just carried on with their day to day stuff as it was happening elsewhere/to someone else!
I am pleased there are no plans for another series as I think it sits best as a one-off, though a Bethany spin-off could be an option I suppose.
