Moving home

Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

Australia Day is Jan 26th and I thought Hogmanay was the Scottish New Year celebrations?

Glad to hear it's all still going well for you, Hicky, apart from the sickness - definitely something one doesn't need when trying to move

We put our house on the market the Tuesday before Christmas, had 2 lots of people looking on the Thursday and signed a contract on the Saturday!! The buyer wanted it all signed before Christmas!! Didn't expect anyone to look until early January so it's all happening very fast for us too!
It's a cash sale with no conditions, which is great. Over here the buyer has a 2 day 'cooling off' period after signing the contracts, and she had the building inspector and pest inspector come around in that time. So that finished last week and she's paid her deposit - we have to be out by Feb. 9th so have to start sorting things now. Well, we've done quite a bit but have more urgency to get organised now.
It takes removalists between 5 to 10 days to get stuff from here up to Queensland so we'll be in limbo for a while, which will be interesting ;) Moving house is really very stressful - I thinks it rates 3rd after death and divorce :o

Thats great news Rainbow & they say Christmas is the worst tine to sell a house, hope it keeps going smoothly

Against 5-6 days our 2 hour journey seems like a trip to the local

Thanks Hicky.
Christmas here is the summer holidays, and being a beach-side tourist town we have a lot of extra people down here at this time. So it's considered quite a good time for people to be looking at houses, apart from the actual public holidays, of course. Not like the middle of winter in the UK!!
The distance to move certainly seems a bit daunting at the moment. We'll get our car trucked up there rather than driving - it's a small car and we both hate long road trips. Also the price isn't very different!

well, there is 'going back' but it would mean you lose your deposit.

I would have 'hand washed' and not bothered repairing...... :? We hand wash if a few days before a holiday as ours only goes on when full and that can take some days to do....

But if you're selling the dishwasher with the house it's your responsibility to leave it in working order.

We bought this house with a shower/tap situation that we only found out about when we actually moved in. There was no way we would have known that there was a complex way of coping with the problem until needing to actually use the shower. We have tried at least twice to have the problem rectified but both (different) plumbers have scratched heads. Hopefully when phase II is underway we can sort the situation once and for all - time will tell !

A complex and unusual way of using something ... as long as it works ... is one thing but a broken down non working appliance is something different.
