good morning +

Order yourself a latte, and a pastry (The virtual cinnamon buns are excellent today). And have a nice chat.

Good morning all :D

OH is cooking a curry this evening so has gone to the shops with his list ........ I'm drinking :mug: and slobbing about generally while the washing machine does its thing. The house is so clean after our efforts this week that this weekend will be very laid back.

Have a good day all :D

good morning, all.
dull and drizzly.
the coffee machine is making its welcome noise.
the redcurrant was pruned and the six blackcurrants i was given last year have finally (temporarily) been potted up while i decide where they will go, along with the two whitecurrant bushes that i've recently acquired. i have shoved most of the redcurrant prunings into a pot - lets see if any of them take.
the hswk is still being, successfully, avoided. i may do that again today.
have a grand day, everyone.

Good morning
Wet and dull here so I will get on with some of the stuff I didn't finish last week when I felt rough
I am slightly disoriented as I was working up to do some special cooking for Tuesday, but I checked my diary and it's for Wednesday so today is available for catch up
Need to clear a space in the loft for my propagator which is currently in the living room, misting nicely, the light is better up there
Have a good day everyone

I must cook something tonight...

Good morning all :D

Not raining ...... but damp and still not gardening weather ..... I think I'm turning into a fair-weather gardener

Washing is in the machine, a chicken is poaching for tomorrow's pie and the makings of a carrot and cumin soup is also chuntering on the stove ... I need another :mug: before I do anything else. :mug:

good morning, all.
bright/sunny but with a little cloud at the moment.
i would like a walk on the beach today but high tide is around three so it would be just doing laps rather than the long stretch towards chapel or round to lushington. less satisfying but better than nothing.
the other job i may get on with is filling in screw holes where wall cupboards have been removed.
ok, coffee has been drunk - it'll be down to me to get a re-fill.
have a lovely day, everyone.

off to the farm in an hour and after, a trip in to redruth to get tickets for the live broadcast of julius caesar being shown next week - and to buy milk.

Good morning :D A lovely sunny day here and considerably milder than it has been of late ... 8.8C and rising ... the garden will be drying out just in time for the next lot of snow ... apparently it's heading here Herbi
Plans for today include making some wholemeal bread (it can have its first prove while I go to tennis) and a mushroom risotto.
Now that I have written evidence for the therapeutic effects of knitting I will happily get on with OH's sleeves this afternoon while watching the Cheltenham Festival ... not that I've ever needed any evidence other than my own, but it's nice to see that others are catching up with me.
Not coming back as a cat Scully ... think of the irritations of fleas and collars etc
I have thought the lifestyle of a hump-backed whale looks quite good ....... if you can avoid the human interference ....... at least dodgy knees shouldn't impact on mobility ;)

Good morning
We have some brightness here
A Man is coming to put the Yale lock back on my front door, the cylinder came loose yesterday and I had great trouble getting in to fortress Stokey. I had a good look and I cane fix it myself, I found some videos but tgey all demo the simple night latch, not the more secure version I have.
Quite safe overnight, as the lock was on the gate, and the mortice lock still on the door.

bright, dry, but breezy. it might start raining in an hour or so.
yesterday it rained non-stop.
tomorrow, hopefully, it will only start raining when we're back in the 'classroom'!
there was something i was going to do today but i have been distracted by doing a virtual beach clean. hopefully it was only hswk - so that's ok.

Good morning all :D

It started bright here Scully and I fancied a walk, but it's raining now so that won't be happening ... I've cricked my neck again (carrying a basket of shopping rather than pushing a trolley yesterday is chief suspect) and following the application of liniment, swallowing of Panadol and wrapping of a scarf to keep it warm OH has banned me from going out in the cold and wet.

I may well have to join you on your beach clean ;)

Good morning, all.
It's predicted to be dry and sunny-ish today but it's not really bright enough to tell yet.
The trouble with going to bed, comparatively, early is that you wake up early and if your brain knows it has to wake up early it adds that on and you wake up even earlier than you need to. I have been awake for over an hour and the alarm is set for an hours time. Oh well.
Off to the south coast this morning with shopping on the way home.
Have a good day, everyone.

Lovely and sunny here. Been up since 6. The weather forecast for Sheffield has gone back to lots of snow though. Rather anxious about it, but I think I have to go. I suppose if I get stuck it won't be terrible (although I do have to send a book off to production on Monday). It will be worse for my husband.

Decided to postpone. Waste of £260 for OH but it’s not worth the risk and worry. Will probably end up taking a day’s leave next week too to go up as I need/want a bit of the weekend to prepare for holiday departure the 28th. Also means this weekend in my own again :(
Ah well...

Good morning all :D

Miserable weather here today ... we must go to the supermarket - we're running low on essential stuff like toothpaste, mouthwash, loo rolls, laundry stuff, washing up liquid ... I've even used all the strong bread flour ......... and some food for the weekend would be good too ...

Have a good trip Scully

Enjoy your day everyone :D

Herbi, . I have just driven over the Pennines, the weather is awful so goodness knows what it will be like i n Sheffield. I’m having my haircut at two then coming straight back. No lingering around today.

I’m going to have to bite the bullet and find hairdresser for me and the dog in Yorkshire, this winter has been illuminating. I’d forgotten how bad the weather can be as we have been spoiled by so many mild winters.

Well the snow has just started. Big fat flakes coming down quite fast, although the ground is wet - it must have rained in the night.

Feeling a bit vindicated... :?

Basil is out in it. A true outdoorsy cat. Lily is semi-comatose next to the oil heater I have just put on.

I think today will be marmalade day, or marmalade day pt 1. I just need to decide whether to to the whole orange or the juice method... decisions, decisions... etc.

good aftermorning, all.
it's not particularly chilly here at the moment but is overcast. it may be drizzling but i'm not looking (- shrodinger's rain?).
nothing planned for this afternoon other than to put my new lot of potatoes to chit a bit more and find a load of pots for pricking out and potting up chilli seedlings.
i had thought to do a bit of hswk but a quick shudder has dislodged that, thank goodness.
the thought of moussaka for dinner is a good one though, - thanks, suffolk.

sunny. whether the snow we are, again, predicted appears, we will just have to wait and see. it didn't happen yesterday. they're calling it the 'pest from the west' but i think that's more to do with the rhyme than the reason.
we are invited for dinner at the local young's, i think it's a delayed mothering sunday event. i say dinner - we are invited for anytime we want to go but i think we'll wait 'til after midday.

Good morning all :D
We have not had much and most of it has been blown into the hedgerows ... but the wind is bitter ... OH took stuff out to the bin and came in chilled to the marrow. This house is relatively modern and draught-proofed and insulated beyond normal standards, but it's letting the cold in today ... rads have been turned up and I've got the oven on to roast squash and peppers for soup ... that'll warm the cockles ;)
Scully, I've looked on the webcams down your way ... Cornwall looks like a tropical island ... blue skies, sunshine and calm seas ... what've you done to deserve that? 8-)
Herbi ... hope your mum and her neighbour manage to avoid dramas this weather.
Keep safe and warm everyone  :D

Good morning, all
It's sort of bright out there but I think I may stay in bed rather than look and see if we still have snow.
It was crusted onto the windscreen, when we came home yesterday evening, and took quite a while to scrape off. I think my nectar card has had more use as an ice scraper than as a point collecting medium! It took me nearly a decade to amass the princely sum of about £2.50 on it, which I used the other week.
Have a cosy day, everyone.

Definitely warmer outside now ....... 13.2C  virtually tropical ... no wonder we're sweltering as we forgot to turn the rads down to their normal setting when we went to bed, so when the heating switched on this morning they heated downstairs to the level of a steamy glasshouse at Kew
Didn't sleep too well last night ... brain wouldn't stop going around in circles ... hopefully I'll sleep better tonight as we're off to the opera tomorrow evening and I don't want to doze off mid aria

I’ve been down south for a week. Friday was a t-shirt or lightweight jumper day (definitely not a coat!), Saturday was very snowy, and had a feel like -8C temperature  . How did the weather change so quickly? Sunny here today, but still bitterly cold. Hopefully it’s going to get warmer this week.

There's sunshine outside and a load in the machine, but whether the two will get involved with each other, or whether the washing will be 'draped' by the radiator in the study remains to be seen. :D

I'm going to have a lazy day today as we're off into the city this afternoon for a light early supper at The Lamb then we'll wander up the hill to the Theatre Royal for Madama Butterfly :luv:

envy.

good morning, all.
sunny with the odd fly past of cloud and quite a bit warmer. today will probably be the day that the plant pots will be gathered together - a job delayed from when it decided to snow. it'll be interesting to see if the rather pretty, variegated,'calico' chillies grow true or were hybridised. as i have quite a few of them i may put some in proper pots and the rest in folded newspaper pots.
coffee calls.
enjoy the exhibition, sue.
enjoy the opera, suffolk.
have a good day, everyone.

Frosty and bright. I should take a camera in for lunch time, really.

I'd take sandwiches if I were you.

Good morning, all.
Overcast-ish but at least it's dry with a forecast of dry. The forecast yesterday morning said it would rain all today.
Off to the farm. Better start rushing.
Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning
Cold and sunny with the odd little cloud here
Must get out, might walk down and get some knives sharpened at the newish specialist shop

Had a great trip to the BM yesterday, the exhibition wasn't crowded and was well displayed even for my eyes though there were a lot of small objects
Going again on Monday for the pre-exhibition talk on Rodin and the Greeks - I won't be in the actual lecture room but in the live relay next door, which may be better for me as I think we get a bigger screen
Have a goid day

back again.
i had just picked up my keys when i had a phone call to say that people in my little group were on holiday and still sick so i decided to stay at home. i could have gone but what would have been the point? i would rather be able to go for a long walk in a couple of hours time (low tide is a little after two) than get paid for doing nothing (well, something but nothing i want to do).
i have already weeded one and a bit raised beds instead and am back in with another coffee - and being crowded by a pushy cat.
i have some more chillies to pot up, too.
