Spring ventures forth to plant the grain
And Summer dries the straw
Autumn gathers in the harvest
And Winter shuts the door

The coin floor is one we are going to have in our new bathroom. Dad left a sealed bag of £5 worth of old pennies, we took it to an auction room for advice on its value - just scrap ! It will be sealed with a waterproof seal but should look good and be a nice memory of Dad when it's done.

The wood burning stove in the corner - we are having ours like that except our stove will be raised off the floor on a platform so we can store logs underneath.

I still have a fruit bowl which one of the retired borrowers at my mother's library made for her out of wooden lollipop sticks. It's nicer than it sounds!

A friend makes and furnishes doll's houses, she finds that the wooden coffee stirrers that you get from MacDonalds make excellent flooring.

Make sure that your platform is made of a non-flammable and heat-resistant material as otherwise the logs could combust from the heat from the log burner and your insurance would be invalid.
I know this as we had a log store to one side of our log burner and had to move it when we let the house - our letting agent had personal experience of her log store igniting just from the heat from the burner and it caused a fire. The insurers wouldn't meet the claim as they said she had been negligent.

Thanks MM, it has already crossed my mind and looking at the paperwork that comes with the stove, they have been very careful with information and given very very clear instructions.

That happened in a cottage in the village where I used to live ... the logs smouldered, then ignited beams in the wall during the night ... the next thing the whole cottage was in flames!!! :scared:
