Nope, that’s a major road into York! I actually went through the flooding there yesterday but it’s impassable today. Son had to go to work In the Land Rover yesterday as our lane connecting us to the village was flooded.

Good afternoon all, Been awake since 2am !!!! :o Saw Mr. Z off the premises at 5.30 and cement has been poured and is now setting, it will be polished later..... Cats don't like all the big machines. We had to drain yesterdays rain out of the pond with plastic containers before the cement could be poured. 3 of us must have looked like something out of a game show.

Fab weather here, washing on line, DW has been on and is now cleaned and emptied. I have put my tomato seedlings in the greenhouse, they are doing well, especially as the seeds were out of date !

Might sneak off later and rest my ankles and eyelids.

Quite dull here. I woke briefly at 7 (didn't get to bed until 2am) and it seemed sunny. It is forecast to be sunny today/right now...

Currently on hold to see if I can get any info out of Eurostar on my strike day journey. Ten minutes and counting...Next up, phone call to John Lewis to see if I can detailed instructions for the delivery of TV tomorrow to my mother.

Good morning all :D
Overcast with bright spells here this morning ... shopping must be done and then possibly some gardening if the chilly wind drops ... (at the moment it's roaring in the chimney) .... don't want to get my dodgy neck/shoulder chilled. Apparently tomorrow will be much warmer and OH has been booked for gardening duties.

Good morning
Been busy already
The builders can't come to fit the new steps to the loft, as the fabricators haven't fabricated them so long conversation about that
The man from Virgin has been and installed my new TiVo box (originally booked for next Tuesday :tu:)

The weather is looking as if it might rain but the forecast is warm & dry
Not sure what best to do with an unexpected free day, other than finish the book before book club tonight. Really should get on with some filing really

Have a good day everyone

good morning, all.
overcast - looking at the forecast it doesn't actually seem to have changed from what was predicted for yesterday.
i'm going over to a friend's for coffee in an hour and to see the new place they've moved into. perhaps i should get out of bed and head for the shower!
this afternoon will be taken up by qualifying, and some painting or planting squeezed in around that.
have a grand day, everyone.

Bright currently, but the cloud is sitting very low and showers are forecast.
Want to combine a walk with some food shopping, so thinking of where to go, choice is Tottenham or Broadway Market via London Fields....

Good evening  Well don't know about the rest of you, but we have just had our second day of almost wall to wall sunshine 8-) I did a couple of hours in the garden yesterday after the usual morning Zumba class and almost regretted it :( :!: I don't half feel my age today - I have been awake since 3 am and only just beginning to feel human again, but still couldn't resist popping out to do a bit more planning and potting :bounce:

Yes, stayed warm and sunny here too, I wLked up to Tottenham, did an Aldi shop, and caught the tdain back. A little disappointed that Aldi no longer stocks German products like bratwurst, they seem to be more English than the English now, but still some good buys

Dull here. Heavy rain forecast all day. The end of the week and next week look lovely, but until then...

Not been in an Aldi for ages, but I did used to use that one in Tottenham. Our nearest one is tricky to get to. They want to demolish the two lovely gasometers at Bell Green to build a large one and a Nandos... In Germany they have Aldi Sud and Aldi Nord often in the same town - two brothers quarrelled... maybe I'll pop in next time I'm there.

I still haven't properly unpacked (food) from Normandy yet. I should do that today. Back to work and OH back to Germany after his medical appointment, tomorrow :(

good morning, all.
sunny with some of the white stuff in-between.
loads of bits and pieces to do today but it'll all be dropped when the f1 starts - even if it's still sunny.
i got very little done yesterday. by the time coffee had been drunk and i started home it was past half one. i stopped to pick stuff up and drop paint off and was grabbed by someone else who then talked at me for another hour. i think i must have 'listener' written across my forehead sometimes.
i managed to get home in time for qualifying, though.

good morning, all.
bright with a bit of overcast at the moment. the radio forecast differs from the online beeb forecast for us which is not unusual - the radio is south east oriented when it comes to the weather! it says we're going to have rain. online they say we're going to be dry with sunny periods - the sun is peeking through now.
off to do stuff elsewhere today along with positioning my sown stuff in a bright place.

Good morning all :D

A very wet day yesterday, followed by what appears, so far at least, to be heading the same way ... nevertheless, I think it's time to get the propagator out and start the tomatoes and courgettes. When they're out of the propagator the sweet corn can take their places.

Talking of having stuff written on our foreheads ... I think I have 'Potato Farmer's Sister' written on mine ... in the supermarket the other day I was asked, yet again, for advice on which potato variety to buy :?

Have a good day everyone :D

Good morning  Very damp and miserable here :( Off to Zumba soon, then the usually brunch with other Zumba girlies at the Dog's Trust. :chops: I am in the middle of attempting to make bread using kefir as a raising agent. Someone posted this on the relevant facebook group page and as I have plenty of kefir to spare - and bread flour that needs to be used up - and it is a no knead recipe, then I though I would give it a go. Never mind that I have put on 4 lb over the last couple of weeks and there is only me here to sample the outcome ;)

It's so dark...! And grey (in central London.)

Back at work :(

OH had a doctor's appointment this morning. He was not good when we parted ways earlier. I think it's exacerbated by stress (he plans to fly to Germany this afternoon.) Good to go to the doctor's in a non-optimal state though, I suppose.

On a brighter (although physically darker ;) note, I have just booked two more Hidden London tours - Charing Cross Access All Areas next month and Clapham South/subterranean shelter for September.

Good morning, all.
Bright but overcast. The forecast says rain for the morning but it's not at the moment.
Yesterday was (almost) wall to wall sun. Potatoes planted, first coat of (dilute) paint on the pantry and a couple of other walls, a bit of indoor sunbathing with the living room doors open and, with my partner, the fence repaired that has been waiting since winter (and a gap in his time schedule) - oh, and washing on the line.
Today will see the next coat of, undiluted, paint on the walls.
Hope your husband improves soon, herbi, the stress/anxiety at work can't be helping.
Have a good day, everyone.

The nice weather seems to keep being pushed back. But 22 degrees predicted for a week tomorrow?!! I had better quickly get my in between weather clothing out of storage. (If I can find it.)

good morning, all.
sun peeking through at the moment - it's not forecast.
i didn't see 'the life of brian' until it was broadcast on the telly - it was banned in cornish cinemas. cornwall used to be very methodist.
nothing planned for today, although i have some homework to do so maybe i'll get some of that done later.
i'm cuddling a lovely cappuccino but my partner tells me i need to service the machine - it's my job - i'm the one with more practical ability with things like that - and smaller hands.
he has asked me if i meant to leave the lettuce outside. i've told him it's hardened off. if i plant half the tray (it's a tray of 'living salad') the slugs might leave enough for us - if we're lucky.

Good aftermorning all

Three rhubarb crumbles made and cooling to take to MIL tomorrow ... we can eat all of them when we're there if the rest of the family come over, or she can freeze them ... that's why they're in foil containers each containing two large or three 'normal' portions. MIL does like my rhubarb crumble :chef: and our rhubarb is growing for England; actually there's almost enough for the whole of Europe at the moment.

Planning on trips to MIL's local garden centre at the weekend, as well as a plant fair at a nearby specialist nursery ...

Have a good weekend folks :D

good morning, all.
cloudy.
the problem with going to bed early is that you wake up earlier than usual (trying to set a better habit) - i woke up just before four and didn't get back to sleep. i may have to have an afternoon nap!
pulled off, and put into water, a couple of sweet potato slips, yesterday. i also washed off the few aphids i found on them (grr). i must check everything else in the propagator for the little sods.
as it's still the easter holidays i don't have to go out today so i may do my homework instead (last week was a catch up day cancelled from the snowy weather).
i may have to check my rhubarb now, crumble sounds good.
have a good day, everyone.

good morning, all.
the wind is subsiding and it's a little damp - with more rain forecast for this afternoon. jam tomorrow, sun-wise.
watering, shopping and homework started plus changing a lock that seemed to dislike the door all got done yesterday - in fact it may not have been the lock at all but never mind, at least the wind can't blow it open now!
nothing planned for today other than tacos for dinner - haven't had those for a long time.
have i said that i'm very pleased with the soap i made a few weeks ago (my first foray)? the scent is good, the lather is good and it's palm oil free. the next i'm going to have a go at is a liquid soap - i have enough plastic pump things to re-fill care of the bodyshop shower gels that are coming to an end - i think it would be a good re-use.

A busy and expensive morning (see Cbox) but a big male frog is in the pond noisily summoning any lady frogs in the vicinity so that has cheered me up. :D
Also had an email from an old (and very successful :kneel: ) art school friend who will be in the vicinity on Friday arranging to meet up has put a smile on my face 8-)
Now I shall make the pastry prep the filling for a haddock and leek tart/quiche sort of thing ....
Have a lovely day folks :D

good morning, all.
i think we know what the weather is going to be like today, all over the country - remember to wear sunscreen.
off to the farm in an hour - i think i'd rather be in the garden or at the beach. it's likely that i'll spend most of the day indoors. my partner will be cooking dinner for tonight with the help of the sun; we are having thai yellow curry with quorn cooked in a sambal pecel type sauce.
better get a wiggle on - i want a coffee before i go.
have a glorious day, everyone - and top up your vitamin d.

I would like to do this ...what site did you use for info Scully ?

I ask because I googled yesterday after reading your post and one of the 'recipes' listed palm oil :scared: :td: :td: :td:

thanks :tu:
