Although I've dropped it now, I had been listening to the Archers for as long as I can remember (wasn't it on at 6.45pm for years?) as my mother used to listen to it every day. (That, and Children's Hour with Uncle Mac :lol:

Much as I dislike “Emmer” I thought the acting from her and the guy who plays Ed was superb tonight. The way the scriptwriters have built up the nastier side of her this week has been upsetting but very realistic. I think she is her mother’s daughter after all!

I don't know if any Archers' fans were listening to Feedback on Radio 4 on Friday afternoon but there was quite a long and interesting item on the current story lines.

I said to Mr R at the start of yesterday's episode that the baby would arrive in the middle of the Flower and produce show and that joe grundy would be found dead in his chair. So far half correct!!

I have a question.

I've never listened to the Archers but think I'd like to give it a go. If I start will I be able to get into it or is there too much of a history and would I be totally lost?

you'll slot in ok, there're often little snippets of back information dropped in that will give you some information but i'm sure there are folks on here that could answer any queries you may have.
i doubt any of us has been listening from the start and there're gaps that we will all have when we were busy doing other things.
i suppose it's a bit like moving to a new house - you may not know everyone straight away but you quickly get a rough feel of the neighbourhood before long.

Next week's Radio Times prepares us for Joe's death. They do a slightly cryptic precis of what the week's episodes bring usually but this time they are saying that it's time to say goodbe to Ted/Joe. It's something to do with the broken cider press. I hope he doesn't get drowned in cider . ..

Yes I see that panning out.

Scully I have been listening since the first episode. My gran was hooked from the start and we listened together. When we lived in the WI my Dad used to send me tapes of the omnibus. The same when we bought this house before we were able to listen to the BBC, I have not missed all that many episodes. It would be my first choice as a Mastermind subject - there would be no need for any others :lol:

Although it’s a bit daft I really enjoyed the Tracey/Russ encounter at Lower Loxley! She’s hilarious and he is so awful. Can’t think what Lily sees in him! I do hope that’s the beginning of the end!

I used to listen to the omnibus while I did my ironing as that could do that without any concentration … but rarely iron anything these days and besides Sunday mornings now are the only time of the week when I don't have any other commitment, so I'm back to that. But you can also listen on bbc4 catch-up on your pc … so really whenever you have a spare 15 minutes during the week. :tu:

My sister listens in the evenings once she has finished her chores for the day. Or you could listen at 2 pm while you have a tea break. Then again you can set your tv to series record...…
